Conroe uses dual channel, so for 1333 you only need 667 ram for XE stock clocks. And DDR2 1000 (PC8000) has been on the market for months.

Although slightly misleading there with the title.

Anyway Imnot bothered about it. All these benchmarks shows is that someone who owns a AMD and is currently the top of the 3DMark05 benchmark spot will shortly fall.

Good news for us all because most of us will be running these clocks and if you have money you can run this on air with the 3.3Ghz Xe :)

Oh yeah, an FX-60 on LN2 @ 3.5+ with oc'd gfx (on dice?) is still faster than your setup? Lucky for AMD I guess. So when a stock XE @ 3.33 gets on LN2 with gfx on dice blows all current scores out of the water (not quite a true order of magnitude, but in the computer world, it'll be sorta like that) I wonder what the excuse will be.

Thanks again for the posts and info. I can hardly wait to upgrade (or maybe just a whole new rig... can't decide)

To answer a couple questions. 1.500v vcore, cooling is by a modded VapoLS. I feel the wall is silicon based, not vcore or cooling based. The 2.4Ghz Conroe ES that FUGGER has will go to 3.6Ghz

3.33Ghz - 2.13Ghz = 1.2Ghz OC
2.4Ghz + 1.2Ghz = 3.6Ghz OC

hmmm....makes sense ;)

I hope to get a 2.66Ghz Conroe under phase soon. I think we may see just shy of 4Ghz on early silicon VERY soon. Should be sub-11's in SPI with a sky-high FSB.

The XE chips are going to be crazy. :eek:

But other hardware is required to be the same IMO it's only wau to see real gaming performance: K8 (either AM2 or 939) vs. Conroe, same RAM (for AM2),
same VGA and "fresh" XP SP2.

So it's better to spend more time and get XE or Conroe B1 with decent multi and check the potential.

I dont think the title is misleading since he put Conroe XE in quotations.... It's just a conroe Overclocked to XE speeds.. a lil difference in FSB but close enough to see what we can expect from Conroe XE. Thankyou FCG.

Also.. I thought Vcore could not be changed on any of the baords that Conroe is on (badaxe).. How did you get 1.5V core?
