Can you say Liquid Gallium cooled Xeons?

So a friend of mine bought some server cases the other day and low and behold there was some sort of cooling included with them...

So turns out after some reasearh the company that made these made them for special high stress situations in the military. There is liquid gallium running through the hosing and the pumps are completely magnetic and very quiet. Unfortunatly the fans are EXTREMELY loud but I think there is some way to use this card to control. Not sure if any of you know anything about them or any tricks on how to use/manipulate them for "practical" application on desktops = P:banana:

I don't think it's pure gallium but more likely a alloy like galinstan which has an even better thermal conductivity. The thermal capacity however is a lot lower than that of water and its viscosity a lot higher.

The main advantage of these cooling systems it's their durability and toughness in harsh environments.

Don't see that too often... I wonder what kinda pump is needed, that gallium is probably pretty heavy and viscous. Is it an electromagnet type pump?

Also, What kind of fans are those, they look sorta like a dual counter rotating Sanyo Denki or something....

There's like 2 or 3 fans in that tube assembly.

Well, its one fan with 2-3 rotors. Delta sells double-rotor fans as well.

Theyre screaming loud and very high pitched, those tube fans, you can find them in a lot of 1U and 2U rackmounts.

jeez. must be perfekt to cover an heatercore with those!

I dunno. The dual-rotor Deltas have lower static pressure than the single-rotor 9-blade deltas.

Ive never seen specs for those server tube thingyes. If anyone "in the know" could link me the stats, im interested.

Is the rad split in half with 1/2 doing one cpu and 1/2 the other?

wonder how much that cooling setup costs?

I think it's like Kwik (don't know the English name of it), -> dangerous gasses.

At the current point in time i'm waiting on some proprietary controller card that will adjust the fan and temps accordingly. I also am missing the mounting for them but am working on some sort of alternative solution (if you guys have any ideas/suggestions)

The gallium is infact an alloy and the pumps are electromagnetic and very quiet, have run for testing but have yet to actually mount and play with it.

The fans are actually two fans next to each other in some sort of opposite direction can get pictures later but they are VERY loud but with the controller sound should be bareable.

The radiator has two seperate loops going through it as each cpu has it's own, but they share the same radiator.

Once I can figure out some mounting solution looking to get up with maybe some of the ES chips i have (woodcrest?)

I think its paralelled at the radiator.

Each of those units are probably something simular to the apogee direct drive, only it uses magnets to pump the gallium.

Those are 60mm fans that move around 50cfm @8k rpm or something like that.

This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

If I remember right this was looked into and the capabilities of these coolers wouldn't handle todays cpu's.. This was very old and limited in usage but a great idea just not sized properly for what we need and it was EXPENSIVE.
