need info about pumps

Hi guys, i'm italian and I'm newbie here but not so in the watercooling. We usually use acquarium pumps, with a lot of flow but low pressure drop. I need to choose a new 12v pump and I'm busy to decide witch is better between aquaxtreme 50z and mcp655/dangerden d5. I need info about noise level and all info you can give me, because, these pumps aren't easy to find in Italy, specially the 50z. I prefer this.
Here is my setup:
Black ice pro 2
reservoir
1/2 tubing
and a italian waterblock with very low flow restriction (350 lt/h with a small hydor seltz l20).
I need a secure, silent, powerful pump that can be used also with block like g4, mp-05 and the other high restriction block.
I posted also in the guide, but no response.

i litri/ora contano poco se non c'e la pressione dietro. se non hai la pressione di testa puoi avere 1500l/h ma appena gli piazzi su uno storm sta fermo.

comunque usando i buco in cima come entrata guadagni 50% di flusso massimo, al costo di un po di testa, che comunque rimane meglio della testa della D5 e 50Z, e ha lo stesso carico termico della 50Z (meta` della D5).

e` molto probablilmente la miglior pompa a 12v al mondo in questo momento, per raffreddare i computer.

IMHO the DDC Ultra is the one to beat for performance/price/silence balance.

DDC with top inlet actually has closer to 750l/h. Which is 3.3gpm. (little less but good enough figures for this purpose)

Now youre asking me if this is not enough but:

Even with the most powerful pump available to us - Iwaki RD-30, with 33ft head and 5.3gpm max flow - you wont break 3gpm in an actual loop.

Generally its much lower than this. 2gpm at most with a D5 in a low-restriction loop, more like 1-1.2gpm with a Storm in the loop.

So basically, any max flow figure abive 3gpm is just fluff with a pump with 15ft head or less like a DDC, D5 or 50Z. With pumps with lower head, its even worse, you just get worse flow than a lower flow, higher head pump but loads of extra heat dump from the pump - high-flow pumps make lots of heat.

That 350l/h on your block with an L20 is going to be quite a lot lower once youadd all the tubing, GPU block and rad.

yes, the flow of 350lt/h is only for the waterblock. thank you for the info.
I read the guide of maxxxracer about cleaning of the components before mounting them in the loop, I've done that, but my tubes continues to became white:doh:

The intersection of y-axis and a pump curve tells you the maximum head at zero flow. The intersection of x-axis and a pump curve tells you the the maximum flow at zero restriction. They both tell you very little about the actual performace which lies on the intersection of the pump curve and the system restriction curve - as shown on the image. The green curve represents one single WC setup. If you replaced MCW6000 with Storm the system curve would have a higher slope and the resulting intersection would show you less flow: the intersection would be positioned more to the left on the pump curve.

wow thank you very much. from that graph, i notice that the 50z is in the complex a little bit better then ddc isnt' it?

That test is for the 10W DDC with the side inlet though, isnt it? Curve is quite a lot better for the DDC-Ultra (18W).

Yes, it is the 10W version. I just wonted to show that the maximum figures don't tell the whole truth. (The test is still very interesting. It shows that DDC is probably the best pump out there. It gives almost best possible performace and the lowest noise.)

Well, there's really 4 versions of the pump: 10W or 18W, side inlet or top inlet. As you can see, the 10W side-inlet already performs very well in an actual loop...

ok, thank you very much. i'm going to sleep (here is midnight passed). the last question... what abuot the noise level of the three pump? I heard that the DDC 10w il very silent, the mcp655/D5 has 5 position and level of noise (at max is noisy?) and i've no info about 50z. thanks guys.

The 50Z used to be very quiet. It seems that recent pumps are quite noisy, and quite a few here have reported that thair 50Zs have gotten noisy as well.

Hence, atm i cant really recommend it when the DDC and D5 are widely available and quieter.

The previous review posted also has noise level readings...

My italian is rusty as far as writing goes but I can read. So in english my response will be.

In any case. The 50z is a mutch better overall pump than most aquarium pumps. But it is also noisier than my l30. (hard to belive I know, but my experience)

Now in that case I would recomend the Eqivalent of the mcp350 thats found in europe. And modding it for a central inlet like they sujested above.
