EDIT 2: Let me further clarify the significance of this score. This is on an Intel 975X chipset, not ATI for best CF scores, 975X. Second, this is an Intel board. Not bad for a board built for stability and not all-out speed. Third, all stock cooling with absolutely no modifications to any component. And lastly, I am severely limited by FSB on this board. This Conroe could go much higher if I had the right board.

We wont know which is the best until they come out but one of the Albatron boards is already getting alot of attention.

Problem is, as FCG has already said, the current 975X motherboards that are out do not support Conroe because of the necessary missing components that Intel themselves have only just recently released the specs of.

The only confirmed board we know of that does work with Conroe is the Intel "Bad Axe" board. I'm not even sure the Albatron board will support it, which would be a terrible shame. :(

I don't think the problem is going to be with the ram. The chipset on the board may top out before the cpu does. On this processor he will need 375fsb to reach 3ghz.

Seems to have about a clock+(600-700Mhz) equivalance to AMD cores from the limited results so far .. nice work :toast:

Conroe XE 3.33 = 4GHz AMD FX60 ?? Happy times ahead for us air cooled folk I think.

I see that you have good memory modules. Can you run some of the test Victor Wang ran with his Conroe (Cinebech 9.5, 32 and 64 bits version, winrar 3.6, superpi) to see how it scales with better memory latencies and higher fsb.

Well, there's no point sticking something like that under phase until you know what its capable of under simple air cooling. Only when you hit a barrier do you consider other options - that's imo the best way of overclocking. :)

If you straight up stuck a Conroe under phase you'd have no idea whether any instability you had was due to some freaky problem (e.g. coldbug, etc) or an actual fault with the CPU.

FCG, is the stepping correct on that Conroe? Stepping 1, Revision A1?

13588 puts that setup at the bottom of page 2 on ORB. That's simply incredible. Good luck on the XFire and additional OC. Hope that fsb is up to the task.

What temps are you getting?

How good is Conroe benching 64bit optimized code?
This is a future CPU that might have to run under 64bit Windows Vista with lots of memory.

ORB score doesn't seem to work...i wanna compare FPS!!

Forgive me if i've missed something, but havent you run that at 2d clocks? I can see it is curently clocked at 500/600, and the "Set Default" button is grayed.

Or does "nothing changed" mean stock clocks, if so, my bad. Otherwise, you should get a nice boost in nature with the card clocked up a bit.

Well, I wasn't looking at price performance ratio or overclock potential, just trying to compare 3D clock for clock comparison.

But I completely agree with you, if an E6600 can do 3Ghz on air, which I hope it can :p: , it will be out of control for a ~$300 chip.

Just out of curiosity but is anything holding you back from clocking that E6400 ES any higher?

perhaps 333 is the FSB limit for this mobo, kinda would make sense being as Intel ain't exactly looking to get everyone overclockign their own boards.

That's a sick score Kris....everything comparable on the ORB is at 3+ GHz (or 6+ GHz for the sole netburst) and on higher clocked cards. To think that this board isn't nearly as CF friendly as the RD580 boards are either :slobber:

...and on stock cooling and volts to boot, just damn.

Time to load up IDK and see if you can go +12.6% on that 333fsb to get to 3.0G (I think I got that right). Good luck with your fun over there.

Wow....scores like a Presler on the CPU tests (though still not OC'd much at all), but scores like an X2 on the GPU tests (better it seems actually). Best of both worlds (and it's still not OC'd much at all, neither are the GPUs)!

From everything I've read, the retail 2.13 (E6400) will only be 2M cache as your chart shows. FCG has a 'special' chip. I assume its an ES. The E6600 will the chip to buy... er, well... that or the 3.33xe

For me will be CNR E6600 for 316$ :banana:

Surely it would be a lot easier to push it higher if you could just leave the FSB at the default modded 333 (from 266) and crank up the multi.

304 is the one.

From what I know its not shown on the box, you'd have to open it and inspect the motherboard to be sure.

It has vcore up to 1.6 and vdimm up to 2.2 as it is. i can see a vdimm mod necessary, but vcore is probably enough for conroe (1.15v)

The version is shown on the box sticker.
My box sticker shows the string AA D27904 - 302 in very large lettering on a sticker with barcodes on the side of the box. The last 3 digits denote the board revision, as mine is 302 the new ones should clearly show 304 instead.
There is also a small sticker with the same string and barcode stuck to the center of the board itself.
