Ohh hope that chip will fly!
:slapass:
that is a good sign
this looks like a bios update only........had it been more serious....it would not boot at all :toast:
is ths T7400(2.16G) 4M l2 merom?
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...-ke2/T7400.jpg
try much time, can boot , but can't access windows
Damn Nice... Aopen or some1 Better get the BIOS ready. Now if XS peepz can get some more ES Merom dosage then we may see some super numbers all across table.
Wasn't Merom supposed to be 2MB L2?Quote:

T7600 (4MB L2, 2.33GHz)
T7400 (4MB L2, 2.16GHz)
T7200 (4MB L2, 2.0GHz)
T5600 (2MB L2, 1.83GHz)
T5500 (2MB L2, 1.66GHz)
hicookie you know it could be as simple as fresh OS install :)
no, booting with winXP-CD , still stop...and no action.Quote:

Merom ES is already out ?! wow ... what the heck is going on with Intel ? they decided to flash the market ?
change to pci video card, and turn off all usb, but still can't access win:stick:Quote:

sounds like you may need to slipstream i975x drivers into a WinXP SP2 CD. google for a guide on how to do this....then install with that CD. let us know how it goes.
I think this chip needs new BIOS with latest microcode update.
good idea , maybe he could give "ultimate bootcd " a try to see a little bit more where the conflict comes from . just guessing..Quote:

Dear Armin,
As this CPU is expected somewhere in September, we can not confirm that it will or will not work.

Nothing to do with win XP CD or drivers if he can't boot from CD. Otherwise, he could have just used linux live CD :)
hicookie .. oh this is uglyQuote:

As you can see on the screenshot windows itself isn't the problem, the bios freezes exactly where it wants to boot, linux doesn't work either... Aopen give us new bios please :DQuote:

Lets remember charlies merom booted in
a simple callistoga compatible pc laptop
and with a mac mini (callistoga) as well !
this is
a minor problem for sure
Since you're running a beta BIOS, have you tried any other version?
If Merom can work in at least some laptops at this point I really can't see why it wouldn't work with this mobo.
yes thats my point, i would try the first bios and run it with bios default , vga card, one ram stick, sata/usb disabled.Quote:

what about booting from an external hdd with windows files on it.
I think he can't boot of any device, be it cdrom, external hdd or floppy
Not really :) I have a P4-M here, and when I put that in a P4GPL-X it says : "Intel uCode missing" and it just boots and works fine (apart from setting the Vcore to 1,7V instead of 1,3V)Quote:

EDIT:
WWWWW seems to have same problem with a Yonah cpu :) http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...t=95834&page=5
Maybe try to use Laptop.:)
flash back to v1.02 and turnoff sata ,all usb, still no go....;)
wuts bios voltages reporting?
Are they off?
Ive been waiting for this review for loooooooooonnnnnnnngggggggggggg time.....
voltage works fine, sorry, i just wake up ,here is 07am;)Quote:

Good morning Hicookie:
It looks like the BIOS is chocking on ACPI service which I believe is the south bridge interface. You may want to disable all the hardware in the BIOS to reduce PCI conflicts and try turning PLUG and PLAY OS On or Off to see if ACPI gets assigned another IRQ or PCI buss #.
From what I see, all these AOPEN boards seem to be real crap.
EDIT: What south bridge is used?
SB is ICH7
Ich7r?
Well that's been around since the 945, so it should be supported. I would keep an eye on what resources the BIOS allocates to the ACPI controller, which apparently isn't returning back anything line vendor Id, etc fron the PCI init.
EDIT: It may give us more clues if you take a pic of this board posting when running another CPU to see the PCI assignments/IRQs and device init order.
no "r",support ide raid ,but no sata raid.;)Quote:

Appears to have been released today:
http://club.aopen.com.tw/news/News_S...nguage=English
called to aopen, they have no merom sample, they couldn't write
microcode.....
i think..aopen will takes long time.

Must be Microcode.
Weird considering Fuggers laptop have no probs, as well as 945GM chipset based motherboard with the Merom.
And on top of that the MacMini....lol
gah, so many people with Conroe/Merom and yet still no overclocking :slapass:
yes I wrote that above.Quote:

I second : after Hicookie tried all the suggestions... must be microcode
okay i work at intel in the eval department and i got a email from aopen telling me to use the 104 bios that it will enable merom
http://download.aopen.com.tw/ and download the 104 bios that should do it for you
and yes i have run it already but i am unable to tell you what i have done
If that works, wcooper007, many people will be very happy =)

i think someone already asked this, but why does it say hyper threading enabled?
okay well about the fsb issues i have only had a merom in a laptop as of yet and i cant say that i have had any issues with the other one. now i know that i can run a conroe that is normally a 1066 at 1333 with stock cooling on a badx board you have to understand i dont have access to all the cool boards and cooling stuff that yawl use. I also dont have the ability to do all those mods that you all perform on your motherboards. I am going to assume that when i get the merom in a aopen board and i am going to see if i can unlock the fsb and see if it will boot with a 1066 fsb which it should i would emagine being all the merom is, is a conroe in a diffrent form and the fact that the woodcrest is nothing more than a merom with a 1333 fsb
Are there different versions of the 1.04?Quote:

so than yours worked with 103b with the merom if thats the case than i would stick with that if aopen is having the inability to work with a merom than i need to know becuase i will send a unit to them tomorrow i just have to talk with my laptop guys and see if thats cool to send them a sample so bare with me let me know whats going on i will try to help all of yawl out just let me know what you need and i can compunicate it to my people.
1.03b is buggy...
Speedstep could not deactivated...
1.03c and 1.04 works better vor me...;)
Any update on how newer merom ES' have been faring vs the FSB wall that many yonah/merom are plagued with?
I jumped onto Yonah and have been very pleased thus far, but I am not sure if I want to just update to Conroe entirely, or just hold off and pickup a Merom a few months after July. Maybe RD600 + Conroe .... dunno :o
well just to keep you up to date on what is going on i have just shipped a merom to aopen so they should be getting it within a few days up to a week being its got to go all the way to another country so as soon as they get it they will start on it thanks for the understanding guys
Any updates ?
How did this guy get this chip over two months ago? WTF!! Seems like I'm the only one on these forums without a Conroe/Merom/
You're obviously new here... :p:Quote:

Thanks... it would be nice for them to put out a bios that works out many of the kinks in this board, there are many threads listing them and the fact that it is the only enthusiast MODT board means many are stuck with it. I would definitely use AOpen more if they righted these issues, otherwise I'll chalk this one up as a lesson learned and move on.Quote:

Maybe I'll go just Merom, since I already have the right mobo...
I game mostly, and though Merom/Conroe are even better CPUs vs Yonah, I will likely be video bottlenecked before I even hit a CPU bottleneck. I think ill hold off on Merom/Conroe, then go crazy on an R600 instead when it comes out. :)
Any updates?
Getting a multiplier = 12 (T7200) instead of 9 (E6600) for ~$300 seems tempting...
Code:166 Mhz 266 MHz
4 MB 2 MB 4MB 2 MB
x14 T7600 - $637
x13 T7400 - $423
x12 T7200 - $294
x11 T5600 - $241
x10 T5500 - $209 E6700 - $530
x9 E6600 - $316
x8 E6400 - $224
x7 E6300 - $183
merom also has fsb wall, i think E6600 rock 3.6~4G air easily,
and aopen rd won't spread new bios support merom and turnoff c1e ,eist.
as soon as i get the bios i will let you all know we have yet to recive any info on the bios i have been getting bios's for most of my laptops but not my modt
I thought it was Yonah who had a FSB wall, or the mobo not having a BIOS good enough, not Merom. But it's hard to tell since there's only this mobo available for overclocking.Quote:

Has anyone overclocked a newer steeping Merom? Do they still have the FSB wall?
