If thats the case, a vmod will not change that.
A new bios, or modded bios, is the only thing that can change bios settings.

DON'T do the hicookie's VCore NB Mod coz IT'S NOT the NB Core....
It's the Vio of the i975 chipset and you'll measure NOTHING on the spot he pointed out for measuring.....You'll measure the REAL Vchip voltage BUT NOT coming from the regulator he's pointed out.....
WRONG REGULATOR........I just BLOW UP my AOpen mobo (Northbridge chip) by trimming the trimmer and NOT showing anything changing on the spot he has pointed coz there's NOTHING to do with this.......:( :(
It costed me 400$ this "Mod".......I was so anxious to mod my mobo that I thought not to search for Vchip Mod coz there was already be done by someone else, so I did this mod......BAD think......:(
QUESTION: @ hicookie....DID you do this mod on your mobo?.....DID you see changing by trimming the trimmer onto the measuring spot you are showing in your photo?......OR you just presume that this might be the VChip mod?.....:mad:

OK...what have I done wrong? Even after the mods, my vdimm is maxed out @ ~2.3V and the Vcore is maxed out @ ~1.64. In your pics you point to a specific pin on the IC's for the mods but you have soldered the wires to caps instead. Are we supposed to solder to the same caps? Or are we supposed to solder directly to the pin on the IC? I just assumed the solder points you used were alternate locations for the vmod, so I used the same. That may be the problem with my mods :confused:Quote:

1.250 V - 1.24 V - 1,006 V
1.300 V - 1.29 V - 1,084 V
1.350 V - 1.35 V - 1,072 V (!)
AutoVC - 1,37 V - 1,110 V
1.400 V - 1,39 V - 1,155 V
1.450 V - 1.44 V - 1,172 V
1.500 V - 1.48 V - 1,201 V
BIOS: 1.03

any updates on how to fix it the right way?
I had vcore set to 1.5v in bios and it showed 1.49 on my mm using hicookie measure point. I checked it with a cheap mm I had and got low volts measurement. Then I checked it with a better mm with new batteries and got the above reading.Quote:

A question regardin Vcore and Vdimm by hicookie.
the mod should be soldered like yelow wires on pix, the red lines shows a different nonground location, so I can assume they are connected?
And VR should be set to max resistance, like normal vmods or is it the other way around?
Does anybody have vcca and vdrop pix, I think they have been mentioned somewhere.
And Kyosen's vchip should be posted here too.
I've marked a couple of points which might give a better inducation of Vcore. The origional point marked would have probably been a high frequency wave oscillating between 12v and 0v, which would have been averaged by the multimeter to give a value approx. equal to Vcore.

You are right, those are not vcore measure points, they show like 1.62V when ~1.5V is actual. I've marked correct vcore measure point :) I also attached pics of other mods - Tcore, vcca, Vchipset but for details please check Yonah competition thread. There is also Tcore mod by s7e9h3n, I think that is 20K vr on R572

modded the board yesterday. Now i have 1,63Vcore and +0,3 Vdimm
for the chipset i see no need - it is specified for 1066 so i´ll leave this mod...

Have the vcca and chipset mods yielded an improvement for anyone?
If you use a 50k resistor for vcore - what volts do you end up with? I'm curious if more than 1.64v will help.
edit - okay I tried the 50kohm resistor set at 50k ohm and vcore was still 1.65. It was 1.65v with 100kohm resistor. I tried to increase the vcore with the 100kohm resistor, but I saw no change even after turning the trimmer several times.
what value is VR set prior soldering, max or min resistance?

A little help yet again. Kyosen's vcca mod, you need to increase R151 resistance by soldering another VR by. But how and where, without removing the R151.
If i solder on top of R151, that would lower resistance. Kyosen't pic isn't clear enough to see where exactly he solder.

My yonah seems to max out at 270fsb, I find that increasing the chipset voltage in bios DECREASES stability and causes lockups around 240 between 240 - 246 fsb. I suspect that the PCI-E voltage is connected to the NB voltage as I actually find the AUTO setting to be the most stable just as long as the PCI-E voltage is put up a bit (1.55v+). If the PCI-E is set to max then anything above AUTO on the NB causes instability. Had some success with different variations but all in all it seems to me that the bios provides more than enough vchip options. I read somewhere that kyosen also has removed the NB mod from his board due to the lack of gain.Quote:

I was looking for one earlier also, no luck. it's quite a small trace and it needs to be cut between the ic and the little circular 'dimple' just above r572 and r570. I did the mod earlier and can report that it works flawlessly. Not sure how everyone else does it, but when cutting traces i tend to make two parallel cuts and then scrape away the copper in between. With only one cut I find myself having to press harder etc. which makes me nervous :p:Quote:

Use your meter to check if they're connected. I don't have the board next to me ATM, but your meter should have a function to check continuity. Use that and you should be able to tell.. Sorry I couldn't be of more help right now....,Quote:

Without VR I am getting 20ohms, but with a 100ohm VR I can only decrease resistance to around 16ohms or less thus voltage only lower.

Vcore mod is only to increase voltage above 1.5V
you solder VR wrong, it should be soldered the way you increase resistance not decrease. You soldered on existing resistor and that way you decrease it's resistance.
The only pretty way to do that mod is unsolder existing resistor and solder on 200ohm. I have thinked about it and the only other option is to cut a trace somewhere.
So R151 must be removed completely? And replaced by 200ohm VR? The picture has red cross on R151, so it obviously means desolder resistor, right?
What about other options leaving R151 at place?

I really don't know where he soldered or how on that pic, i assume that he had to cut a trace somewhere, you should ask hiim that.
I will do that mod by removing R151, cause i think that is the easyest and cleanest way.
Found out the problem, resistors should be in series so that you can change from 20ohm to 100/200. One 100/200ohm vr should also work alone (without original 20ohm smd), just make sure it is set to at least 15-20ohm which gives 1.4-1.5V vcca
I have been thinking that some more stability on the board would be really nice, maybe even help some FSB.
The board have really poor power of CPU, small caps, so i have been thinking of replacing them and add some if there is a room.

Mos-Fets should provide - with heatsinks onto them of caurse, coz they're hot enough - about 160Watts of power.......So one thing you could do for more VCore stability/filtering at high currents/overclock, is to add some more electrolytic capacitors at the back of the mobo, in parallel with the existing ones.......Quote:

I figuerd out, that just a brigde, thin wire, gives you also 1,64 V (measured with MM). So why using a VR?
