Thanks for the pics, post results soon please! Maybe this is my last 939 board too I plan going back to ATI since the 9600 :)

If this is DFIs last S939 board does this mean that its likely it will be discontinued pretty quickly? :(
-
Very nice 32M SPi score at 3ghz! Great start. Would love to see more with any 2x1gig memory.
-
Andre,
Can you test 3D performance against NF4 Expert single card? VDIM option @ 4.15V :D
-
Andre, mind telling us the previous max speed of the ram you test, to give us an idea of how much "better" this board really is? ;)

I have no any 3D Video Card. I always use PCI Matrox G450 to test motherboard.:)
-
-
I just bought the Asus 3200 crossfire board and will give it a whirl shortly. If it doesn't pan out, I'll likely pick this up when it releases since it's the only other 3200 board I'd trust. Then likely shortly after that, sell all the AMD and switch to Conroe.
-
does this board support SLI? I can't get ANY picture to load! :(
edit:as soon as i posted they all loaded lol
-
This board looks very promising. And it will be nice to see a DFI board for Intel's new beast.

It's a CF board.
No 3d Andre? Good to know it runs tccd well, unlike the expert.

Yeah, read it on the picture, for whatever reason it didn't compute when I saw the name of it.

eXpert was NOT designed for TCCD....we told you this time and time again and yet i still see people moaning about the lack of 300fsb support.
Venus brought back the drive levels and tweaks needed to run TCCD well, expert was designed for BH5, Micron, high voltage and 4 dimms at 1t or 2T 4gig kits.
Please try and have your facts straight about boards, they are NOT all made to do the same thing.
The Xf3200 here will have the same tweaks as venus and more, skew control and HT drive control should allow for LDT overclcoking over 1500 we hope. In all it should be a monster board.
-
-
Andre, is that higher/lower/the same as your previous board?

TCCD lower , UCCC the same , I try BH5 , CE5, BE5 now.
-
No video card(s)
Thats kinda ;) ironic for someone testing this board at this point. I think DFI needs to arrange for you a CF setup for more in-depth testing :)

sorry , 3D test is not my job. I only help Oskar Wu to test all kinds of Rams.

Can you plug ur matrox into the top slot to see if it works? I dont want to waste any PCI slots by plugging a vidcard into the bottom slot.

"DIMM 1/3 & 2/4 Timming Skew" - What is that for? 4 DIMM configs?
Thanks for your preview, Andre

Orange slot Dimm 2/4............
I am not testing 4 dimm yet. Maybe I need few days.

You can control the skew on each bank independently Bachus
Meaning you can delay the signal to the closest bank to the CPU and advance the farther bank to balance and tune.

Niceee :D I was kind of wondering it could be it, hehe. Thanks for stepping in :toast:

Looks like a nice board, but I am really excited for 975X

http://www.iamxtreme.net/andre/CFX3200/23.JPG
Clock Timing Skew is the most important for Memory.
I suggest Delay 300ps~700ps is perfect.
1/3 2/4 are the same.

Who moaned? I mearely stated an observation/fact.

Tony with all due respet your coming across a little harsh with this whole DFI nf4 motherboard thing. Not everyone is "in the know" like you, and none of this information has ever been "officially" stated by DFI. How is the average or even high end consumer supposed to know that their expert wasn't "designed" for TCCD?
Sorry for the Off Topic.
Nice looking board/review Andre, I always enjoy your post. :D

OMG!!!!!
Very nice results:)

Andre, how does this board compare with Venus so far?

If you use SLI , you could be chosen Venus. But RD580 4Dimm is better than any DFI motherboard.
NF4 32M 3G is still faster than RD580 about 5~8 sec.

Wow, I'm quite impressed. I was considering sticking with my Ultra-D AD0 until AM2, but I might have to reconsider.

I'm more interested in the i975 lol... but this still looks sweet.

I told you one news.
DFI AM2 will have RD580+SB600.....
-
SuperPi performance has nothing to do with the chipset and everything to do with AMD CPU core and memory controller settings. With the same settings, the two chipsets should score exactly the same.
Based on the hardware that's on this board, it should be the best overclocking Socket 939 DFI motherboard out there by a good margin.

Thanks for the review Andre :)
BTW you could Grayskull ship a pair of X1900XTX to Andre for some 3d runs :D
And what's this?
HT Bus NMOS Drive Strenght
HT Bus PMOS Drive Strenght
HT Bus Receiver Impedance
Thanks again!

do bh-5 clock better on rd580?
do us a mini review ultra-d vs venus vs rd580 for all kinds of rams. what clocks better and where ))

Can you please test tha famouse G-Skill HZ 2x1GB DDR500 3-4-4-8 2.6v and see what the best overclock you can get, and if they pass Memtest86+ :fact:
My HZ in this Expert don´t pass 270Mhz.
If i try +271Mhz i get errors on test5, no meter what settings i use. No chance to pass 270Mhz.
Please try some HZ and let me know how they do :p: :explode2:
-
looks like an amazing board... FX60, two X1900XTX's and this mobo would be an excelent combo.
-
The best layout in terms of PCI-E and PCI slots I've seen yet.
-
I am puzzled as to why DFI doesn't come up with a less noisy chipset cooling solution

I'm not saying the results from Andre aren't impressive, but you can't use them to measure the usual or normal numbers everyone can get. He always has amazing dimms to test :)

I think BH-5 limit is the same on U-D, Venus and RD580. Because my BH5 limit still run 273~275 3.8V.
RD580 4Dimm is better than any DFI motherboard. 2 Dimm is close to NF4.
If you need to use ATI crossfire, you would be chosen the motherboard.
-
Well another board exists and it clocks just as good, actually a little better than shown with TCCD. ;)

looks a really promising board....but just can't help feel it's come way way too late for most ppl especially seeing how it's still a month away from retail.
i know my expert will be staying around until conroe hits ...unless she starts smoking processors :slap:

Venus vs RD580 . 4x512mb bh5 what do you think Venus win or?we wants to see 4x512mb bh5 ^^
Its looks like Venus is stronger if you didnt cool the sticks beter on the venus board.
-
I noticed the chipset was ULI, is this true?
ULI is finally making its way onto some higher end mobos?
I have asrock ULI mobo supposedly it has alot of improvements over NF4, all I noticed is IDE performance..
Sorry if this sounded noobish, Ive never ownd an ati mobo or crossfire mobo for that respect, so I wouldnt know anything about it, might have used ULI te whole time for all I know..

I don't see anything wrong with the current solution apart from the buggy SmartGuardian. My system (nf4 u) with SG: idle 40c 4000rpm / stress 41c 5800c. Without SG: idle 41c 2700rpm / stress 48c 3800rpm.
I also have a feeling that the new ATi CFX3200 chipset has a lower TDP value than nForce4. Feel free to correct me on this (didn't find anything solid with google). If DFI would use a passive chipset cooler then someone at XS would surely complain about that (and replace it with an active cooler) :) After all DFI is meant for enthusiats who don't settle for passive cooling ;)
-
nice board  :slobber:
the monster has arrive
according to VR-Zone it will be launched the next Week

I sold one pair BH5. so I cannot use 4 Dimm BH5 compare with Venus.
But TCCD 4 Dimm is better than Venus and I will post WR 4 Dimm.

Northbridge Drive
NNOS and PMOS drive strength decided together the northbridge drive cpu ht bus Electric current intensity.
receiver impedance ---This option will determine the impedance control value of RD580 northbridge with it's HT bus singal.Increase the impedance control value will decrease the signal reflection of the RD580 chip ,,, Higher frequency and stronger CPU HT Bus Drive Strength require larger impedance value.
Set CPU to NB and NB to CPU driving strong .
So we need to set CPU HT bus Drive Strength and RD580 HT Bus NMOS/PMOS to Strong and 31/31.
-
Will this board make the ATI Certified motherboards list?

Can you check if there is in fact a real world performance increase using a four or five LDT as oposed to a three LDT with an Ultra - d
I am a 3d artist so for me real world is cinabench
There is no point spend to $180 when I can spend $110 and have my renders done in the same time
-
@elected
ati chipset is only 8W lol
its nice that dfi at least left the fan on nb
-
They could have removed that anoying hsf from the northbridge if it only generates 8W...

yeah i'd like to know too
it would be a world first if a motherboard's manual actually explained fully each setting in bios too hehe

it won't, just like all other k8 boards....all that matters is clock speed.
which is why i laugh when i see reviews trying to get ppl pumped about overclocking the ldt to insane levels or raising HTT to 500....it's really pointless.

Great stuff AndreYang. Really enjoyed the Infineon Old CE5 chip 1GBX2. Of course the 4 Dimm 512MBX4 TCCD 2T DDR640 2.5-3-3-6 was the highlight. If Crossfire was in my immediate future, you may well have sold me on this board. For those with 4 sticks of "magical" TCCD you might have a board that would extend the shelf life on those sticks in a game rig.

Exactly. I can hardly understand why enthusiast boards don't explain the settings, but mainstream? Well I think the average Joe don't even know how to enter the BIOS because of SplashScreens :D

K then we got a small problem i have only 2 sticks left also so you cant send the board to me yet :stick:

Looks like to me, as a user you have a lot of control over everything on this motherboard.
-
Another great mobo from DFI . But they could change something about that NB cooler

I agree...or atleast from factory put something other than that glue stuff on the heatsink...
-
Looks nice!
I'd like to see 300htt 1:1 @ 1T if possible, this is what people come to expect from DFI boards...................

Hi , have you tried this board with 2 times 1 gig sticks using the infineon chips , used on the redline ram.
-
whats wrong with the nb fan? it looks identical to my dfi nf4 ultra nb fan.
If the ati chipset runs cooler than nf4 chipset, the fan wont need to spin very fast (2000-3000rpm max) and at that speed it's extremely quiet.

Woah! Very nice!
What stepping is that 170?! You must have hit the gold mine!
Now i must decide . . . Do I keep my Expert which I just recieved (not even opened), or return it for this . . . desicions, desicions! Any opinions?

Those CE-5 sticks must be 1 in a million! What brand?

This pair CE5 is hand pick. So you cannot get in any store. Don't try 2006 CE5. You will be disappointed.

0550 VPMW.
I think CFX3200 is more expensive than Expert.

thx, dfi 975 mainboard and conroe sound like a very good combination...
cant wait :)

Nice looking board:cool:
Now when is this thing going to be released? What ever happened to "next week?" They are pushing this thing back ANOTHER MONTH? What is the deal now?

Thanks for the information! Price isn't really a concern of mine. Performance and reliability is what draws me onto products. With that said, and since you've touched both the Expert and CFX3200 - which do you think offers the greater stability and overclocking potential? Basically, which is better, without talking about prices :).
Cheers!

I think its more like Venus vs CFX3200 but Venus is hard to get. Expert is only the chose if you realy need the extra room for the gfx cards,if you realy dont need that, the ultra-d is beter than the Expert board.
