BS it will work in the SLI-DR. Read up any regular videocard - it says needs 16x as well.
is it possible to use just 1 card, and get the performance of 2 7900GTX?
probably won't get same performance as 2x 7900gtx due to
1. default lower clocked
2. puny heatsink cooling GPUs
3. lack of ability too properly cool the inner gpu
if you water cool them and oc them i think you have a winner

and the firegl comparing to the quattro,the quattro have been using 1g ram since a while anyway if i remember well
this is possible these card use 16x and won't work,at least not a 100%,on 8x,the way i see it it use the first 8x for the first gpu of the card and the second 8x for the second gpu
as it may work at 100% or not,we will see when someone actually test it,cause we have no way yet to know of the 2 gpu will saturate a 8x slot or not bandwith wise.

I would like to see if 2 stock GX2 are any better than 2 OCed GTXs...they claim it alows smooth gaming at huge resolutions. Any benches ?
Yep, there's some over at VR-Zone here.
Dual GX2s makes FEAR playable at 8xAA and max quality settings @ 2560x1600 (max. resolution of the 30" Dell widescreen monitor).
