Warming up the 7900GTX's on air

Gonna start the rigg up with LN2 tomorrow. Air performence is really good with these cards.

Do you know that 7800gtx 512 and 7900gtx stock cooling ownz? :p: It is a heatpipe cooler, I had it on my 7800gtx 256 with AS5 and it was almost as good as water.

I remember that the stock cooling it's very good but near 800 of core it's very impressive I think:D

I use one as well, stock fan is ok. Performance is on par with an XP-90C and a 43CFM panaflo. The Tuniq does better with a higher CFM fan than the one supplied.

That's crappy. My BT really owned the XP-90C which I had before it. By somewhere between 5-10 degrees

Both coolers work great for me. X2 @ 3Ghz was just fine under them both. Naturally it is all relative to the environment they are in. In my situation closed case and typical GA heat.

Looks like the same heatsinks that have been used on the 7800GTX 512's previously. Atleast the ones I have seen.

It's Nvidia reference cards. The retail cards should be even better.

More volts to the gpu I think 800MHz would be posible.

Nice stuff as alwyas Marcus.:clap: I figured they could run this high on air. Great clocks ..shamnino and OPP are benching these cards as well. It's gonna be an awsome couple of weeks coming up.

As the ORB is not accepting 7900 results yet and as I would imagine most of the big runs will soon be posted in this part of the forum it might be good to have just one 7900 3dmark high scoring thread for the participants all to post to ?

I'm sure Jason can get someone to post here also but he's on Ati so will be on the ORB as well of course.

Is it worth a new thread do you think ?

Just tried the setup, one of the cards didnt wanna play at all :( The other one could handle -100C. Got to admit that Im fealing kinda low right now. But I will work my spirit up for some singel runs later.

I'm liking the new GPU tubes :)

I guess you'll have to kick the vgpu up to the 1.8v range and bust out that jet turbine with the cold issues :p:
