Latest SS by Johann

Been working on this latest singlestage, turned out really nice

Specs:

Compressor: Danfoss NL11F
Evap: Chilly1 rev e (Courtesy of Gray Mole :D)
Captube: 2.8m 0.031
Gas R402a
Controller: G-Froster Xe

Temps:

idle: -59c
160w resistor load for 24hours: -42c
150w resistor load for 24hours: -44c

I expect to see around -46c to -50c on the evap with average overclocked AMD loaded :D Should be around -20c core with IHS on.

No load and load temps are ideal, and the layout looks great :woot:

Can't wait to see that case come in and the final product, and I suppose this means we'll be seeing more of your work soon too :cool:

looking good! love the desuperheater too (gray can you do a couple of them on the vapo before SLHX? :p) Those are awesome temps for straight 402 as well johann

Hey Kayl, thanks!

I dont have pics of the loadtester in current form but here was the original. Since then the surface was lapped to mirror finish. Also uses some heatpaste under resistors to make sure heat transfer good.

Also used to be around 185 watts but I swapped a 100 ohm resistor for 150 ohms to give a total of 350 ohms and 160w at 237v

Its insulated of course, the outside of insulation is always room temp so not alot of heat getting lost there. I suppose they can never be perfect but its close enough for me. A real CPU rarely puts out 160w anyways and there are also some heatloss there through the mobo so it equals out I would think

Yeah Boardy I didnt use the black one as I had a little more space to play with and this one I used has a little better capacity so I can use a more silent fan to match the silent NL11f

I don`t think so, 160W dummy load is very big (it`s like >200W CPU), unit must have some nice power to hold this load.

Temps are very good, that same I can write about Johann`s SS :)

I agree LukeXE, I think you will see temps of around -50c on the average overclcoked AMD loaded, but nice thing is it will hold hotter CPUS like X2 and P4 to a nice temp

Little update..

I have changed resistors on my tester and it outputs 150w now, gave it a go and get around -44c loaded with 150w

Frosters have arrived :D Cases shipped and should be here before the weekend.

Thanks! Today Im building a sligthly smaller one. Similar setup but 9cc compressor and smaller condensor. Will be interesting to see the difference

Also I am not sure but I am pretty sure that 150w is a good load to tune as few overclocked AMD CPU's generate 150w. Some x2 maybe a little more but in general it is less than 150w so tuning for 150 then a little more is a good average.

How did u make this one? What kind of pipe bender? Is it Ø10mm. pipe?

That was made using a PVC pipe. It is 1/4" (6.4mm I think) soft dehydrated copper.

Simply take copper and bend it around any pipe or round object. Sometimes I use my MAPP or Deodorant bottles :D

160w is 160w, you're right BUT people mark cpus at highest heat output. 160w resistor load is constant and load of cpu isnt, even dual priming wont bring you highest heatload to be constant.

but its only my opinion, i'll be happy to hear others ;)

it may work although the 8mm copper do not bend so easy. It depends on the hardness of the copper you have

Great build johann really like your work I gonna try to make one now too...
My trick for bending any copper tube.
I fill the copper tube your bending with boiling hot water, use compression caps at end to stop the water escaping.

Bend it around something and because of the heat its very easy regardless of the dia of the copper pipe
after you have bend it to the required shape unsrew caps and drain water out (water will be hot) .
Very good for making coils out of 10mm+ pipework.

Warning use good gloves as pipe can get really hot.

your going to use WATER in a phase-change system? they have special equipment for bending pipes.

if it's to expensive to buy those tools DON'T think about building phase.

water in a refrigeration system is like throwing water into OIL

Thats a big 'NO NO' in any phase system, you will get the worst kind of problems in phase: water in system !

lol i forgot to say after the pipe is bent to the right shape you empty the water out hence why i used compression caps (just unscrew)
