I think he's talking about this : http://forum.coolaler.com/showthread...1&page=1&pp=10

Scores look in line with simple speed bump over 7800GTX 512, ie compare to
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=4479285
for 03.
It maybe possible for top overclockers to get these cards to 1GHz ( maybe ).

Andy
looks like it was just a die shrink w/ minor optimisations...
That seems a tad low for 710/1860
Perkam
Im sure they have more potential then this. It wouldn't make sence that Nvidia would release a slower card then ATI, after ATI. Especially months after and then try to sell it for more money. I hope this is not why they are introducing quad SLI at the time of launch.
thats why are selling it for less money :)

That's impressive :) But showing us an 01 score with a 3ghz FX-60 tells us zip about the card :)
Let's see some FX-60 @ stock numbers if you want to compare 01 scores ;)
Perkam
thats a pretty good stock 3d05 run, better then an xtx I think, better then mine atleast.
i think the score its almost the same as X1900XTX , dont forget this 7900GTX 3dmark 2005 score its in a FX-60 runing at 3Ghz ;)
chance that the 3Ghz FX60 is holding the 7900GTX back?
Maybe...
You don't have an FX-60 at 3GHz now do you.Quote:

See this score below? Thats with a stock x1900XTX, no OS tweaks, and no driver tweaks. Drivers all default. On top of that, the opteron 170 is running at less than 2.7GHz. Imagine what I could do with a 3GHz FX
Also, note the 12+ additional processes running in the background. Hardly what I would call tweaked.
FX60 @ 3ghz with an stock XTX would hit over 12K easy with 6.2 drivers in 05
I do this at stock core clks and 783 on ram,
with an slower single core & used 6.1 CCC's with only 512mb of ram.
http://img382.imageshack.us/img382/1...ockspds4zd.gif
For now I'm not very impressed...
For sure this new 7900 can be a good clocker but I think to hold my 7800GTX512 for now.
maybe not for you but its the minority spending big bucks on graphics cards.Quote:

thats the reason why alot of people are guesing that the 7900GT could b a really good card.
ATI and Nvidia both want to have the fastest card out but if at the end of the month you wanna make money you have to have the best card price performence wise.
I can do just over 12k in 05 with my XTX at stock speed and the with 6.2 driver. It's 12,050 to be exact.
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1792312
So I'd image a 3GHz speed chip with my same card and driver would stomp me.
Plus some 7900GTXs have 1.2ns ram ;) So 7800GTX512 users will have to forego the 2ghz mem clocks ;)Quote:

Damn, that core is tiny  Hopefully the price will reflect that.
No surprises here. If the GT yields are good so they can clock to ~650 MHz on stock cooling, it might be a killer deal for 300 USD.
Just sold my 7800GTs so I have to pick something up soon.
Don't forget quad core Sli soon so really the small die size and getting the core cheap is as important to nvidia as single card figures to be honest I would say.
Also, it would be nice to know whether thr 7900GT is like the 7800GT and has 5 quads rather than 6, or whether it has 6. If it has 6 it might overclock well and be the new 4400ti\6800GT bargain.
Regards
Andy
It is known - 7900GT has exact same number of all execution units as 7900GTX as was the case with 6800GT vs 6800U.
Well..here is my XTX stock clocks, and 3ghz single core:)

I was hoping it'd be 5-10% higher than a x1900xt all things stock but it looks to be about exactly the same scores but with a Nvidia logo.
I'm not sure if there is any benefit of this at all.

Belive what you want guys. Nothing i can do about that:) i got 11725 with the catalyst from the CD,and now 12k with 6.2
I have no reason for making fake scores guys.

Who's to say the guy with the 7900GTX didn't have a tweaked OS? Sioux's scores look about right and like he said, what reason does he have to fabricate scores.
PlatoonSgtElias got 12,575 at stock gpu clocks with a 3.2GHz single core Opteron. That should be somewhere close to 3.0GHz FX60.
Same question...if the box and the benches have nothing to do with eachother, I request 7900gt benches :P.Quote:

omg hard to decide, need more 7900 benchies. Was gonna buy 7900 (thought it'd be a bomb) but now I am so confused. I'd like to get one along with Yonah.
BTW, what brand xtx should I get in case I buy ati? I hope 800+ core on water but I see even some BBA can't do that. Haven't had high end ati for a while

Go for 7900GT SLI if you're going 7900 seeing as BOTH THE GT AND GTX ARE BOTH 24 PIPES !!!!!
The GTX is overpriced and underperforms vs XTX and current 7800GTX512. Unless you love benching 3dmark03 :p:

when i said I barley get over 10k with stock settings, I meant CPU/mem also at stock speeds. which would only be 2.2ghz.
no, but I have an Opteron 148 @3Ghz which Im willing to guess would score exactly the same in 3d05 for single card scores when clocked Mhz:Mhz the same. Its in CF/SLI config when you will notice a benefit from the duel core. Im only a few points from 14k @3035mhz-750/850Quote:

I think Nvidia is comfortable with this fact, if they cannot beat ATI in power per card, they can beat it in effeciency when cards are paired or qauded up.
They are to close to compare by performance. Pricing will settle that.
I'm wondering if 7900GTX ULTRA "XXX OMFG edition" will be any better than the 7900GT. You can only push the architecture so far.
I'm personally wiaitng for the x1900SE for $250, that will unlock to x1900XTX speeds :D
I'm hoping for a huge ATi and nvidia price war and the scoring fairly close so you can take your pcik of either very red cheap card or very cheap green card !

Anyways, lets hope the 7900s don't have a cold bug. Then it might be some kind of selling point for the xtreme OCers :stick:
question does 7900GTX allow adjustable voltages in software... ? for folks who can't volt mod if they're life depended on it... seems X1900XTX would be a better option ?
X1900XT is a better option for those who can't voltmod for their lifes... (Like me for instance) The 7900GTX doesn't allow adjustable voltagens in software...
About the 7900GT->7900GTX the diferences probably lie in the Pixel Processors the GTX would have 48 (like kinda like in the X1900) and the GT the same as the 7800GTX (Don't remember the exact number :P) Or you tought the HUGE cash difference had no reason ?
Hmm, 7900gt for $300 is a good choice, 2x7900gt will def beat 1 GTX for $600. But I am not sure if it's really gonna be that cheap. Sadly Aopen for Yonahs does not officially support SLI, only CF

DAMN does that eVGA GT OC look like an amazing deal: 550/1580 for $359--that's nearly 7800GTX512 performance! And it has a crappy cooler, so who knows what it'll do with a better cooler.

here a french review :
http://www.clubic.com/article-32655-...njour-g71.html
they say the 7900 GTX is slightly faster then the x1900xtx, and they like the 7900gtx better because it's cheaper. You need to put this into context : 2/3 of their benchmarks are without fsaa/aniso, whatever is left is done with 4xfsaa/8x aniso, and in france we have :banana::banana::banana:ed up retailers who inflate prices like hell on high end pieces which don't have competition on them (like x1900xtx), you can't get a x1900xtx for less then 600+ euros (that's $750+).
ATI and nvidia need more control on retail prices (a bit like lian-li. when their v2000 came out, everyone was dead on their MSRP).
looks like x800->x850 to me
After all this wait...this is what we get?
I'm not one for dual video cards unless I can buy a set for $400 so viewing the single card results is very dissapointing to say the least. Nvidia had the ability to really stretch out there market prowess but seems to be satisfied with the status quo.
They need a more comprehensive market strategy IMO.
Ati are lowering there costs. As a matter of fact, an MSI x1900xtx can be had for $620 Canadian wholesale and this is before there next price reduction.
For a top end card without this silly SLI crap, it looks like ATI is still up there. The more competitive mid price level will be owned by ATI when they introduce the x1900SE for $250US by the looks of things.
IDK if this is the engineering's fault or the marketing dept fault....but it does seem the initial reaction is turning out to stray from the typical "giving them what they want" to "leave them wanting more" :(
The performance is better, the yields are better, the heat is lower, the cost is lower, but it seems it's still not one of those nice jumps we've gotten acustomed to :meh:
yada yada yada... but have they? (and please recall the track record)Quote:

I know everybody was expecting like the 2nd coming of JC or something, but put in context of 7800GTX (256MB), 7900GT is cooler, quiter, cheaper, and given a proper heatsink I'm sure will get mighty close to 7900GTX speeds.
