Patch For SLI on ATI mobos

It seems that the ULi patcher that was on ASRock's page and then removed due to the evil green team :P has served as the basis for a modded patcher that theoretically should patch any mobo to enable SLI. Thus, if you have a xfire board you might be able to run SLI on it which would mean your choice of vidcard would no longer need to be tied to mobo in a multiple vidcard setup.

Does it work? Who knows, I think both SLI and xfire are crap but here you go:

Good Find Gentlemen....but yea, we dont know if it'll work unless we ask someone who has an ati mobo with two nvidia cards :p

Actually, that's a good call, when Intel actually hits with Conroe you could have both options on a cut above the rest Intel mobo.

Well, that would require ULi/etc leaking a xfire enabling patch on a non ATI chipset mobo and then someone modding it. Hasn't happened yet...

atleast on my DFI UT RDX200 CF-DR..
Blue screened instantly my MSI neo4 platty SLi...
(it ain't great perfromance on the crossfire board though)

Just curious but why did you install it on your MSI SLI board?

Actually I think nVidia might love this because it means it can complete with Xfire on Intel boards (which are supposed to support it soon)
with out having to deal with Intel..

Yeah, I know the conspiracy theories are going round about nvidia intentionally leaking it. But they are still going to lose a crapload on mobo sales and given the vidcard situation currently, it's not like they're gonna sell more cards due to this. I just don't really understand whey they would do this on purpose and why now?

The patch is for SLi on Crossfire not SLi on non SLi board. Although if you search the forum there is a simple mod to enable it on your board.

Well, he said this patch would work for me...:rolleyes: And I know how to hard-mod the Ultra-D, thank you all the same for the advice ;) Me don't want to spoil the warranty yet.

I am sorry for the offtopic, but I have a newer version of the Ultra-D and the contacts that I have to merge are masked and I have to remove the "polish" there. Now ho do I undo that? I know you can wipe off the silver paint in such a way nobody would notice, but how about the polish?

I tried preliminary test of this SLI-patch.
Here "preliminary" means "set up with 1 VGA card(6800Ultra)"

I have an ASRock 939SLI32-eSATA2 board.
The original ULi driver, i.e. PowerExpress Engine Enabling driver,
can handle boards properly, of course, even if with 1 VGA card.
Display-Property shows that the system detect SLI support VGA card.
but this time SLI-patch can't.
And other motherboards, RDX200 & A8R32-MVP, also can't...

So, unless this SLI-patch needs 2 VGA cards for proper working,
it doesn't work, at least on WinXP SP2(Japanese), I think.
Anway, I'll try 2 VGA cards configuration later...

You have to use Older VGA drivers but I must warn you it isn't very stable...

I don't know how Older you say, but it sounds that 7800GTX512-SLI can't be configured...

I know that Older driver(71.84) can drive 6800Ultra-SLI on P5WD2-E
without any additional driver such as SLI-patch in this time:

Definately agree.. and I would just about kill for a working Xfire patch for nVidia boards.. :slobber:
