I can lookup the names of the ic chips if that's needed.
Hi, I am very interested in volt modding the GS also. I have the GS on water, I know the chip has a lot of potential for more clockspeed, but it's starving for voltage. Please help if anyone can. I am currently stuck at 500/1600. Load @ 42C, Idle @ 37C.

Can you check the voltages at the 2 points I've marked in green please.
no offense but those cards are ugly!
#10 I think it's called "getting used to" ;)
Most of us are just used to seeing the capacitors and all the other components infront of the HS... :)
Best Regards :toast:
The top one reads 1.83v, the bottom one reads 1.41v.
*holy crap it's unnerving taking readings off of those chips....*
Edit: Actually, let me get a different DMM, I don't trust this one, just tested it out on some known voltages and it's way off.
My MM is real prehistoric. Its got 1 of those Needle pointer thingys. At about 25 years of age, the old MM really isnt suitable for accurate readings needed here. I just use it to check for resistance. So I cant oblige. Also:
Since posing this Thread, I have had a bit of a situation develop.
I got power issues atm on me Rig...maybe these 5 hard drives beat the hell outta my Antec True Control 550. Summat was affecting my 7800 GS so bad that CS Source Bench dropped from 162 fps to 23. I was franticly swapping Molex plugs and removing hardware to try & free up things. Eventually, the AGP card started buzzing a rather pathetic beeping sound when ever I ran ANYTHING 3D. Stop the App, the buzzer stopped, start the 3D App, Buzzer goes off!?!?!? Did this for about 4 or 5 Graphic bench starts and then stopped doing it on the 6th run. At this point, I shut down the PC, Pulled 7800 GS, replugged several times, booted, benched & Im now 1200 3DMark03 points down from my normal score of 15,200 @ 492/1430.
Since starting to resolve this 3 days ago, I gave up re-installing Micro$0ft Winblows ExPee Pro to resolve the issue at attempt number 3.
Something on my PC has or is dying since I first fitted the card & I'm not so sure if its the PSU, the Mobo or the GS. At one point, the Auto detect Speeds returned 650 CORE & 1500 MEM. Now where have I seen this before Nvidia?
Does the 7800 GS OC use more power than an ATI 9800XT? Cos thats what came out & everything was fine there! Cant retry the 9800XT as its not available.
EDIT*
When I run this Bench:
http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/
The Fps starts at high 60's & then hits 118 a second or so after the GPU Fan has increased its speed.
Gotta set default clks here & re-Bench, I have reference benchies to confirm.
Gah! :(
Antec True 550 is a Dual Rail PSU, with a 12v1 and a 12v2 if I recall correctly. The first rail goes directly into your motherboard and the other rail goes to the rest of your components, which is a very bad case for you. Antecs are good for the average joes, you should upgrade.
I would recommend getting a new power supply, since you are overloading it. The buzzer you hear is you 7800GS telling you it's not getting enough power from the molex. Try booting up without anything plugged in and you will see what I'm talking about. The GS definetly uses more power than an ATI 9800 (If I recall, that's about the equivelant of the 5900/6600 nvidia cards)
I would recommend you upgrade your PSU to either
Silverstone Zeus SST-ST56ZF
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817163111
OCZ Powerstream 520
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817711002
Or the cream of the crop PC P&C Turbo Cool 510 Deluxe
http://www.pcpowercooling.com/produc...php?show=T51DX
I would trust any of these PSUs to run my rig, which includes watercooling, overclocked prescott/ram, six hard drives, and 6800ultra.
http://www.antec.com/specs/TPII550_spe.html
Mine isn't version 2 of this PSU, But this SPec sheet is for Version 2 of my PSU & is SLI ready quoting 19Amps Max load on the 12V rail?
bbl8r
K!......it apears I have some fluctuation on the 12V or 5V from what Ive seen & heard here, yet Asus Probe constantly shows the following with Prime95 Running Torture mode.
12.281/12.342
5.134/5.160
3.296/3.328 - this one never use to drop below 3.312 under load - prolly causing the CPU back off I guess!?
Over the last month or so, I have had to reduce my overclock slightly from 250fsb to 244fsb. It plays 24/7 at 244FSB & 3DMark 06 cr^ps out at the CPU test. I objected to de-clocking further to get that prog to run CPU tests & if I rememeber rightly, the 9800XT bombed out on the CPU test in 06 @ 244.
So if the 7800GS needs more current, its making my rig crash randomly for the extra current draw over the 9800XT....maybe!
I dont feel at all embarresed about this cos Asus Probe is fine with Prime95 Torture Test and rthdribl demo in a 640 x 480 window makes absolutely NO differences to the Voltages in Asus Probe?
Motherboard temp is UP though, by about 6/7 degrees....at 30
Surely I'd be seeing some sub - acceptable levels in Asus Probe if I had voltage issues?
Will do some more :upset:stressing:upset: at various FSBs to see if there are any differences. I got a feeling as soon as I up the VCore, I'm going to see AGP issues again & maybe I should be running some Pixel 3 Shader stuff to really stress the card.
This is all a bit confusing but it looks like the PSU is gunno get what for!
*edit* I suppose the PSU getting it is better than the Kitten getting it eh! :D
It doesn't matter what the ratings say on the 12v1 or 12v2 rails, because as more current is drawn in one rail, there will be less available on the other rail.
Do NOT trust your onboard monitor. Using a reliable DMM is the only accurate way. A reliable PSU will get you cleaner power, less fluctuaction, and therefore higher Overclocks. I would take a single 38A PSU over a combined (12v1 + 12v2) 38A anyday, and you would be wise to do the same.

Persivore, I borrowed a calibrated DMM from the lab, I hope you see this before I go back to work tomorrow. Top reads 5.220v, bottom reads 1.437v.
Thanks for your support RE my PSU:thumbsup:Quote:

Another thing happened 7 weeks ago,.... a failing ATA133 Drive on my raid Array...it's all adding up now.
Moving on.....
...I'm guessing here, the bottom reading of 1.437v is controlled by the Cards bios!?
Alexio at this thread: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ghlight=7800gs
has a modded bios that appears to work, changing the cards 3D voltage from 1.4v to 1.5v
Well, I'm at work now, so no more taking accurate readings unless I can borrow the DMM again. Zombie has done the Vcore voltage limitor mod, I'm waiting for him to post on its results, and for Persivore to give some more feedback before I do any more mods to the card. According to Zombie the BIOS volt mod does not work. The 7800GTs only have voltage hard mods, I would think the GS would be the same.
I'm gonna wait for all the info to come in before I put the mods on my card, due to the fact that it has a water loop attached to it.
Can you check the resistance between the pin I've marked in red and ground please. Check resistance with the power off.
I got 0.865 KOhm on my DMM, so 865 OhmQuote:

For the Vdd mod, connect a 20k VR between the red pin and ground. Decrease resistance to increase voltage. The green pin in the above picture will read approx 0.2v (or more) lower than the output voltage of the regulator. I would recommend finding a capacitor which is connected to the green pin to use as a Vdd read point.
I'm 90% sure that the voltage being increased is Vdd, but there is a small possibility that it could increase a differnet voltage, so increase voltage slowly at first.
I'll take a look at the Vgpu mod later.
Woot. Vdd and Vcore, here I come!
Edit: Wait a sec... what's this "other voltage" you refer to?
Can someone check the resistance between the pin I've marked on the chip (pin 6) and ground please. Can you also check if the pin on the chip is connected to either of the 2 points I've marked on the resistors too.
(I hope Shamino doesn't mind me borrowing his picture)
Persivore if $oul hasn't given you any readings by the time I get home, I will get you some(about 2 hours). Currently stuck at work processing data.
Resistance = 38.90KohmQuote:

Maviryk can you check this also, just for a double check cause the pins are VERY small :)
I will do it as soon as I get home tonight, no exact time though. A customer just came in with a project that needs to be finished by tomorrow morning...
so how's it going ? :)
seems like someone found out how to measure the vcore:
the point in the purple square is 1.3v in 2D mode and 1.4v in 3D mode (i tested this also)
http://www.reaver.be/pin6_volt.jpg
as said in this topic:
http://www.mvktech.net/component/opt.../limitstart,0/
I forgot to take the DMM home last night after work. Will have to make sure to take it home for use this weekend. You have to keep in mind my card is on water and in an inverted ATX case, it's not very easy to take readings while lying down on the floor staring up at the case.
Thanks for that link $oul.
For the Vgpu mod, try connecting a 100k VR between one of the yellow points and ground. I'm not sure about the exact VR value, but 100k should be reasonably safe.
There's a possibility that there will be no voltage increase visible with a 100k VR. If this is the case, power off and decrease the resistance by a quater. Repeat this until the voltage starts to increase. If the voltage doesn't increase after reaching about 5k, I'll have another look at the mod.
note: XS owners and members will not be liable for any damage caused to you or your hardware, neither can be liable for any breach of the warranty.

$oul if you do all these mods this weekend you'll have me beat as the first person to fully mod the GS. I may or may not be modding the card this weekend, my 510 DLX shorted out and I'm waiting for the RMA to come back. I'd prefer to have a good PSU to test out all the mods.
I'm looking to buy a watercooling block for 7800GS before I start modding, so you'l probably be the first, if no other 7800GS owners are reading this thread :p
I doubt you will be ever able to find one specifically made for it, unless people start buying GS' like hotcakes. You could try the ThermalTake Aquarius Bigwater II universal GPU block. But other than that one, you're going to have to mod your card and block, or have someone do it for you.
Yeah m8, I have an email here from Danger Den confirming their 7800 GPU water Block will fit correctly on the 7800GS. So you can H2O the Core & the Ram! :DQuote:

The yellow point were the resistor is present shows to have more stability of the two points. Normal volts with out mod in 3D is 1.41-1.42. With mod I was able to get 1.43-1.44 volts. It will increase more but I wanted to start slow....LOL... Anywayz, I benched marked with Aquamark (less intence) at 475 core
1.35 mem. Modded & un modded. Of cores the modded way gave me a score of 81,110 and unmodded gave me 80,970. I ran it a second time to make sure but my machine crashed. Also keep in mind....I already have the "two resistor" mod from VR-Zone done on the card, so if anyone that hasnt done this mod yet, try the 100k vr mod and see what happends. And yes...the instant you start trimming down to like 70k-40k, the voltage goes up. So easy trimming!
Great work on your studies persivore. See what else you can find and I'll try it.
This card has some great potential. ...All we have to do is find out how to sqweeze it out with out killing it.
With an attitude like that, I'm sure you would! :slap:Quote:

Hey guys,
I've got an XFX Xtreme 7800 GS and it will not even clock past 460 / 1340 for some reason.
I've already tried different drivers, a bios mod for 1,5 v on the core but still no improvement at all.
(My PSU is a OCZ Modstream 450 so no loss in confidence there).
I am wondering if removing that current override protection will do the trick for me.
Anyone else experiencing this setback problem when overclocking one of these?
Or can anyone tell me which voltmod has proven to be the biggest success as of yet?
Im confused cause there are so many pictures here and i dont know exactly what to do...
Thanks for any help. :)
$oul, I doubled checked all the resistances, the numbers are good.
Persivore the 100k resistor is too small!
Noxide you need in increase it's size to about 200k and above. Currently I am using about 250k ohms of resistance, looking for the "sweet spot" on the card. It seems that if you give it too much voltage, it will crash, but too little and it will artifact. I am pushing 500mhz on the core ATM, have not messed with the ram voltages/times yet.
I removed the voltage regulation resistors before I read your post, maybe someone else should try the mod with them left intact and see what happens.
Will keep you up to date.
Here's to not frying the 7800GS.

DD Update
Nvidia News:
The 7800GS Video Card is designed completely different then any Nvidia Card in the past. Danger Den does not have a water block to cool this card.
ATI News:
The X1900 series blocks should be coming off the machine tomorrow. The full coverage block for the Master will be different then the Slave card. But the Slave card should fit the Slave X1800 series. No word yet on the X1800 Master as we don't have one...and probably will not have one.

Hey Maviryk what program are you using to overclock your card. Coolbits will only raise my mem to 1500. That is enough to put me at the TOP of the orb for 7800gs cards when compared to all CPU's. I just smashed my own high mark but the damn futuremark orb is down right now. Has anybody else noticed the cold bug. With my extreme liquid cooling system I pump outside night air through my radiator and into my case tonight my case temp is 2C my cpu temp as I type is 8C my card is like an ice cube and until I shut off my main fans and warm the card up it really drags. When running too cold it will score as low as 892 in 3D05. When it is warm it will score easily 7600
When it is too cold it will score as low as 2772 in 3D03 when it is running around 40C it scores this!!!

By the way I run a Antec 550 tru-power PSU also. Although I only have 2 HDD's hooked up. This card has been a real sweet surprise!!

I just ran another 3D03 test and the Damn ORB is down and I need to submit this score. I will leave my system on as long as it takes DAMMIT!!!!!
Here is the score I am waiting to submit

Use PowerStrip. It maxes out at 572/1729. No artifacting tests.
Thanks Maviryk, I discovered that last night in my search. I appreciate your quick response.

Taking yor advice Mav, I've decided on the Top Banana one you suggested.
http://www.pcpowercooling.com/produc...php?show=T51DX
I'm also investing in a DMM & de-noobing myself by Modding my P4C800ED for the Vapo, Turbo-Cool 510 Deluxe build.
Whilst still on air, i'm using a Tagan 480 atm, True Control is retired.
I'd also like to ask your opinion about the Vapochill XEII.
The Compressor has it's own Power supply Via a Piggy Back Kettle Lead arangement. IE, the Compressor Power plug, plugs into the Back of the PSU, & then u plug the Mains Kettle lead into this piggy back arrangement. I trust this will not load the output of the PSU & is no different to using a Mains Splitter!?
With respect & Thanks in advance.
KH :)
Kin Hell before you volt mod that motherboard make sure to practice on some old PCB. Be sure to have a magnifying lamp and if you have a soldering assist tool (Kronus Helping Hands) it makes things much easier. As for the thing you refer to as a "Mains Splitter", not sure what you mean by that. I assume the molex that plugs into your PSU is hooked up to a 12vdc/120vac relay switch which turns on the compressor when your PSU is on. Those generally draw about .40amps (about as much as a fan).
As to everyone else, I've confirmed that the 7800GS has a 38C cold bug(at least that's the exact temp on mine)! It throttles the core when temps go below 38C, for me that translates to water temp of about 26C, which is very easy to achieve when the ambient is 20C.
Does anyone know of a quick way to disable the temperature monitoring? I currently don't have a floppy drive to flash my BIOS.
It's not possible without biosmodding, and even with i'm not sure. You can set the 2D and 3D clocks in the bios at the same desired level and then the card doesn't "know" any lower clocks than that. There is no "throttle performance level" or a "core slowdown temperature", so I guess it will just throttle to the lowest clock set in the bios.Quote:

For some reason my card does not like to run 3dMark03 past 470Mhz on the CPU, but it will run 520Mhz on 3dMark05 all day.
Persivore, do you think replacing the caps with better ones will improve the card any?
I am currently ordering parts for a Dothan Sonoma, we'll see how much the card can do when it is not bottlenecked.
Try a different driver, i think it will help.Quote:

On second thought, that was the week I didnt' know about the cold bug and was wondering why it was freezing out. I'm currently using the 83.90 drivers. I'll switch over to the new 84 betas and see what happens.
And on a side note: I found a local shop that carries TONS of electircal components, trimmers, pots, old mobo... muhuahahaha!
Also, if your system is quiet enough, could everyone push thier card up to the max OC and listen to it when it is running "Firefly Forest" and "Canyon Flight" on 3dMark05. Mine puts out this low "chirping" noise, like a loose bearing in a fan.
Kin Hell, that program works fine for me. It gives me the error when I try to stretch it across both monitors though. I got it to do 2036x972 res before it gave me the error. Very nice lighting effects.
Ah-ha...I can confirm similar events Mav. I felt the 81.90's on the disk were better than the Official 81.90's on nVidia's site. I did a bit of experimenting by using the old 81.90's prior to the 7th of Feb, by copying the new .inf file to the pre 7th Feb version Dir. All nVidia did was to patch the 81.90's to include the 7800GS on its Launch date. For doing this, I did see some strange results but don't forget, I had some serious PSU issues which you helped me thro. Thx again!Quote:

Having just D/L'd em & the PDF update notes, there are no references to updates for the 7800GS!
Maybe they don't know of any & we need to let em know, but ffs, Shhhhh about the Vmods eh! :D
I'm still not sure my rig is entirely right on this Tagan. I wish there was some way I could connect one of the Dedicated Tagan SLI connectors to the Molex connector on the card, tho I doubt this would help relieve the PSU through its dual Rail affair you warned me to stay clear of.
I'm just not happy with what this unmodded card is doing in my Rig, and I have NO mods done yet. Perhaps I should abort all untill my pay-check clears me one of those PCP&C 510 Deluxe PSU's & take it from there.
Also Mav, are you absolutely sure the chirping noise you heard isn't actually the Cards Alarm trying to Beef off!?!?
I only say this cos I heard the same Chirping...Not the usual Shrill noise you would associate with a Piezo Buzzer....tbh, it sounded chirpy & like a Pathetic attempt at making the Piezo sound off properly.
I had a pattern of chirps of 3, like a repeated pattern. This would have obviously been the Voltage issues to the card I was experiencing. Those Beep codes have a meaning, just like Mobos Bios Beeps.
I really hope you are'nt having Voltage issues. Dont suppose it matters at such High Resolution anyway.
Just a thought bud! :)
*edit* I'd like to have said about this earlier, but because of my real PSU issues, I haven't known if i've been coming or going with this card.
yes that is normal, when you double click the top window bar it gets the same resolution like your desktop is set on, like mine is 1920x1200 and i also get the message.Quote:

These GS Cards are NOT right.
My cards at 37 Degrees & the FPS is terrible....6 to 10 fps to be precise in that "rthdribl" Benchmark....this is terrible.
Nvidia need to know about this cr^p
38 degrees & its still Fubar.....now the card has warmed up....10 mins or so,
forcing "rthdribl" to run for the 10th time or so jerks the card up on its fps & its temperature.
There is no point attempting to cool these cards with their current Status Quo which kinda eliminates volt modding.
Maybe it isn't a bug & nVidia have done this to lock down on OCers.
ffs! :(
*edit* Double clicking the Top Menu bar on "rthdribl" does not take it to your Desktop resolution & never has. It should "Full Screen" it, but STILL at 640 x 480 & in a Window. (640 x 480 windowed is its default Launch mode)
I talked to EVGA about the problem. They said they'll get their engineers on the cold bug on monday. So maybe we'll get a "supported" non cold-bug bios.
Good thing I have a Prescott, all I have to do to warm up my water is run Prime95 and cover up the intake on my rad, and viola, couple minutes later the water hits 29C . But I'm going Dothan soon, hopefully we'll get this cold bug problem fixed by then. Else I'll never get the water warm enough using the Dothan!
Alexio I have a 256MB flash card, 256USB, and a 2gb USB. A DOS boot dongle would be nice.
Nice 1 Mav. What about the Chirping noise tho', did you put a finger on what it was?Quote:

Am I the only person to do the volt mods?
I've come to a couple conclusions, the Vdimm volt mods work very well. The VGpu however... is very... touchy... it "sort of" works. But it does not bring enough stability to run high GPU clocks for reliable gaming. I've had to push it down to 460/1500 for World of Warcraft, FEAR, BF2, etc. Otherwise the dreaded blackscreen happens after 15-30 minutes of play.
The 7800GS cores are just rejects that couldn't cut it as GTs or GTXs.
Kin Hell, it's not PSU issues, the 12v rail on my PSU idle/load is 12.11/12.08v with everything attached (PC P&C Turbo Cool.) I think the sound is just the card's coils screaming for a lower clockspeed.
Also, I got rid of the cold bug by disabling temperature monitoring in the BIOS using Nibitor 2.8 and NvFlash 5.30 . BTW don't play with the delta if you do flash, it makes the card more unstable.
I don't think this card is very good for OCing at all. But I guess it is fast enough as it is.
No Mav, I havn't modded the card at all. As things stand for me atm, a change of Rig is in the air taking me to the PCI Express platform with a 7900 GTX. My GS card will go with the 3.2 Prescott/P4C800ED as std.
The GS is running 495/1430 without any issues other than the cold starts!
The AGP community cried out for Nvidia to address more speed & I guess they did just that, but I feel it was somewhat rushed & what better way to get rid of the Failed GPU's!
Chuck them at the AGP users.
I can be such a cynical old Fux0r sometimes!
The chirping is caused by the fact the card was set up wrong by Nvidia. They need a bios revision so it pulls more volts as you clock the gpu higher and higher the chirp will get longer and longer. It has nothing to do with the molex plug that is plugged into it!!! don't believe me? Next time it is chirping pull the plug then it will chirp in stereo. It simply does not get enough volts to clock the gpu high. All the poor bastards that ran out and bought a new psu cuz reps like the ones over at e-VGA were telling them too are getting double screwed. It reminds me of a parts changer not a mechanic. A mechanic fixes the problem, a parts changer just throws parts at it till hopefully he finds the problem and it is gone which always costs more money also.. It needs a bios mod like we were able to do with the 5900FX cards. you could mod the bios to give the card either 1.4 or 1.5 "ultra" volts up from 1.3. Worked well for many cards. What's too bad as many factory OC'd cards like the XFX are chirping at their OC'd stock speeds. I am lucky mine doesn't start chirping bad til 513/1600. I was able to run 3D03 at 510/1600 without a single chirp. Nvidia is stuck now tho' cuz if they admit this problem and put out a modded bios most of the world will not be able to flash the bios themselves so nvidia will have to pay to get this done all over the world. So with that in mind I would say they won't ever admit to or fix this problem. So companies like XFX who are going to get most cards returned are going to really get screwed.... ATI will really reap the benefit!!! Cuz between this cold bug and low volt bios I am going to move up to an AGP free board and a ATI Card.
The only way to show Nvidia I am pissed is to hit them in the pocket book

Any more info yet???
Nice one Wedzilla, so do you think I should drop the Idea of the 7900GTX and go for the ATI X1900XTX with the DFI NF4 SLI-DR Expert?Quote:

I don't believe the 7900GTX is suffering from this cold bug and anemic volts issue. The 7900 should be a great card. The only reason I won't go with it is to let Nvidia know I am pissed at them I have wriiten them and will continue to do so. I want this problem fixed by them. Hey either card will rock your world the 1900XTX or the 7900GTX. God I rmember when we were all flipping over the 4600 then the 9700 Pro. The potential of this 7800GS is really great I just hate to see it go unrealized.

Has anyone heard bout the Gainward 7800GS with 20 pipes and 512 ram? Looks like the PCB design is alot better too.
Man... screw this I'm half tempted to part my rig, sell it, and move over to Conroe.
LOL Mav, the need for speed eh! :DQuote:

The stabilitiy at 260fsb for the last 18 months has been awesome. I was hoping the GS would satisfy my hunger for speed & now I have bitten the apple, I want more! :rolleyes:Quote:

The potential of these cards is mental & I'm still barfing at moving back to AMD. I hope I have the same stability this Prescott/Canterwood rig has served.
I have that exact same card I can only overclock to about the exact same numbers. I can do 470 w/1350...pathetic since this is a preoverclocked card and nonoverclocked cards are knocking it's socks off.Quote:

I just played COD2 for a couple hours with my card at 500/1500. Soon as i ended the game I upped the Vid card clocks to 513/1603! no reboot. I just started 3D05 to see what it would do. Well it ran smooth as silk and I got a new high score!!

Hey it is worth a try guys, It worked for my card to make a better connection.

All my Hi-Fi Mains Plugs are the same, never thought of doing these molex connectors..you total Star! :)Quote:

After further testing, It would appear I have spoken word from the proverbial Arse!
My BFG card is now sat at 496/1500 ......christ eh! The rig is still going & I just might get Power strip out to see where the RAM will go as coolbits is Maxxed out now. Just a personal thing, but Power Strip sucks 4 me.
WeldZilla, could you give me your 12v and 5v readings? I have some suspicions...
Yeah Maviryk My 12Volt on the fluke meter is 12.196 Volts and my 5 Volt line is 5.089Volts on the fluke meter. Since i tightened down those molex pins to where they will hardly go over the plug in on the card it has quieted down and just hauls ass. So it is all good here. I have set ne highs on 3D03 and 3D06. The 3D03 is still the only over 17000 on the orb and @ 17342 is just hammering second place. I ran it last night for a friend at 501/1507 that gave me a score of 16857 which is enough for number one. I ran it for a friend who wants one and wanted to see the clocks at a more sane speed. I hope you guys get all these issues solved cuz I got to tell you when they run right they really are great!!

Have a butchers fellas!

Wheeee!
Not sure they have the Fx 57 Set up right tho...I can get 15400 from my BFG GS @ 490/1450 with a 3.2 Prescott @ 244 fsb on Canterwood. The Extra pipes should be a hell-of-a boost.

You can buy them in almost any PC-store, or make make them yourself by modding an old HS.Quote:

hey thanx Mad Max, i am thinking of using the old p3 heatsinks. the damn hsi cores are so weak... i cracked one when i had the 6600gt... i am thinking of making some shims for the core as i did for the dothan cores... sigh now the biggest problem is mounting the waterblock to the gpu... the holes are so small... i don't want to drill a bigger hole ><Quote:

What kind of waterblock are you using on this card?, I used a asetek universal blok, and it did fit perfectly.

Old news sorry :(
Hi to all:
Kin Hell, Maviryk I have that insupportable and horrible beeping sound. Not all the time, sometimes and especially if the PC have been turn on for a long time. So I suspect it must be related to temps because if I turn ON the PC with everything overclocked to the max I don’t have any noise gaming or what ever, but if the PC is turn ON for a long time even browsing in internet I hear sometimes that "pathetic beeping sound". I am not sure if it comes from the 7800GS or from the PSU. PC is stable all the time no random reboots.
WeldZilla: I have done your "squeezed molex plug" No problem since then... hope the noise do not come back!!! :nono:

So it seems we have drifted away from the original topic of voltmodding the beast. I have a 7800 gs myself and want to do the same thing to it. I am currently maxed out at 485/1500 tried higher on the memory with powerstrip but got artifacting after a few minutes. Card is still nice and cool though. I love the heatsink on the bfg oc model. MY CARD IS STARVING FOR VOLTAGE HELP ME FEED IT!!!!:slapass:
