I just got back from class and put it in. First stop was 300x9 with stock volts, still priming (1.31v).
Here, 30 minutes of prime, CPU has been in for like 36 minute ;)

I've tested priority 1 versus 9, the only difference is i can still use my PC without lag when it's on 1.
Alright whatever, i'll re-run with priority 9, just to be that much more impressive ;)

Seems to work with 1.45v, but core0 errors as soon as it hits 48c, and there's only so much my aircooling can do, i tried 1.475 volts and of course core1 goes higher, but the temps ><

I think it would do 3 but i need better cooling, 49c load is killing me, not even using 1.5 volts yet.

Leave your room window open and go sleep on the couch. ;) And see how far it'd go on stock vcore (auto x auto, which will probably be 1.312V on CPU-Z). In order to find out an Opty's potential, you don't need to raise the voltage at all. See how hight you can achieve without any voltage adjustement. The max will probably be that plus 1.5GHz ~2.0GHz. The exception being two cores being extremely unequal. I've seen a core 0 failing 2.6GHz and core 1 rock stable @3GHz. Hence it's rated 165..

It does 2.7 on 1.31 volts easily, i clockgenned to 2.75 and it ran for about 10 minutes and froze, so i think with like 1.34 it would do 2.75. So the max is in the 2900 range, i think it could do 3 on water ;)

That proc OEM or Retail? Monarch just shipped my 165 today... I bought the retail because for some reason it was cheaper than the OEM this week.

IVAN are u using watercooling with your 4400 in order to reach 2.8ghz?? mine does 2.75ghz at 1.54volts Im afraid to give it 1.60 on Air temps are good though 42c leaving the pc on 10 hours plus gaming.

Chips don't scale linearly with volts.. first 100MHz bump took .075, second 100MHz bump took .1, so third bump to 3GHz will probably be 1.25-1.75, if it will do it at all. (I'd imagine it will)Quote:

Well the 2nd 165 does just as well as the first, 2.9 Ghz core0 starts b1tching out, anything below that is good. 2.7 Ghz ran on 1.31 volts for an hour before i stopped it.
Well for me they never sent me "good" stepping
the retail 165 was 0534 mpmw..this was a late DEC purchase...bad luck
oem 170 0546 xpmw..almost everyone who ordered around me were getting 0530 TPMW( I saw a guy a hardforum who had an oem ship the same day as mine....he gets the 0530...)
So I am sorry you can not be sure of stepping...
I did not say monarch was bad..just I would prefer to know and not take a chance becasue in my case(or luck)..I always get the "wrong" stepping...
there pricing is great but if I knew I would get ..I would jump but got "burned" twice
The 165 I ordered from Monarch can't even do 2.55 Ghz with 1.55V. I'm buying cpus that I know the stepping for from now on. I wish I had the luck some people have.
Not all CPUs are created equal. But the bad thing is, all these CCB1Es are coldbugged ><
Even if my 165 doesn't have a cold bug, you could still only get it to around 2.9 GHz at -200C. This thing was built to run at stock speeds. Too bad it wasn't put in a Dell or something.
Doesn't that piss you off? That some of the worst CPUs wind up in our hands, and many of the best CPUs will never be overclocked. A beautiful CPU that never gets overclocked... it's like it was never born, like an aborted fetus or something :P.

most 165s do something like
2.50 stock
2.6 1.4x
2.7 1.5x
2.8 absolute tops, some benching, not prime stable.

My 165 seems to about average at 2.75 1.5v. It will do 2.9 1.6v but the memory controller and core 0 starts freaking out.
I didn't order from Tankguys because last i checked they dont even have 165s. And even when they did, i never saw any week 50s!
Monarch is good and me, my friend, and someone else on these forums, we all bought on the same day, and all 3 of us got 0550VPMW. That's 3/3 ;).
If 2.75 is average, I guess you could call mine retarded. It needs 1.55V for 2.5 Ghz stable. 1.55V and 2.6 Ghz failed prime after 1.5 minutes on core 1 and 3 minutes on core 2. I think AMD forgot to put a good core in mine.
I may have to go aborted fetus hunting some day.

I have 2gb of Mushkin XP4000 in my sig, i run it around DDR510 or so.
I dont know what memory to recommend, depends on what cooling you have and where you plan to run the 165, you have to foresee where the dividers will take you and decide if you want to run TCCD around 300 or UTT/BH5 around 255.
As for Fedex, they deliver on Saturday not Sunday iirc.
