This looks like some pretty good ram. Are those the tightest timings?
I'm testing the same modules, this is a new type of chip so not really sure how it is supposed to be tuned, this are my tccd settings.
275 2.5-4-3-7 windows memtest ok

i've seen tighter results wait for them to be posted (270 2-3-3-7)
:) Nice scores Metro!
Looks like some pretty good ram as long as the IC's being shipped are this good.
@ Gigi: Crank up that multi ;)

Nice results there, congrats! :toast:
Judging by your progress I think you would be able to reach 310 after fine tuning your system.
Good luck!
Nice results, but GEIL won't ever produce an IC on their own. It sure is an IC that's already available on the market, but noone realized that it was capeable of such high clocks. Then GEIL bought the ICs and rebadged them. I wouldn't call that "GEIL have produced this NEW IC CODENAME: EMPEROR". I'd rather say "GEIL labled a new IC named EMPEROR". :D
Any idea how these do at 2.5-3-3-X? even 2.5-4-3-X would be good to know as 2.5-4-4-7 isnt very fast.

275Mhz Cas2.
Looking like some sweet ram.
Have the GEIL ULTRA-X PC4400 CAS 2.5-4-4-8 the same chip of PC4000 ???
Thanks
Andrea
Wow, 275MHz 2-3-3-7!! Thats sick!
no, they're TCCD AFAIK.Quote:

Ciao GIGI...Ti scrivo in italiano così ci capiamo meglio....Senti, ma queste GEIL ULTRA-X sia PC4000 che PC4400 hanno chip SAMSUNG TCCD con IC EMPEROR ma sempre TCCD sono ???? Ho capito bene ???
Dovrei metterle su MSI K8N NEO2 NF3 ad alameno 280-285 MHZ...Che tengano CAS 2.5-4-3-8 almeno ???
O prendo le G.SKILl FX ???
Grazie
ciao Dio Spada,
ti mando un pvt, in Xtremesystems Forum only english please.

Ops !!!!! Ok.....
I wait your PVT in this Forum GIGI77....
Thanks
No this is not TCCD like Ultra X PC4400.It's not even Samsung ICQuote:

i got my samples from geil. and a i have been told is they are a new IC, exclusive to Geil and so they have called it Emperor, its not made by Sammy, i know that tho.Quote:

I'm not interrested in DDR1 anymore. I'm looking forward to 800mhz Micron DDR2 that would kick every DDR1's ass !! Btw Fatbody D9's are already doing that, but Intel is still on their Netburst architecture, when the good Yonah and Conroe and AM2 boards/cpu arrive, DDR1 is deadQuote:

So this RAM can I use for Daily Use @ 285MHZ CAS 2.5-4-4-8 and for benchmark @ 270MHZ CAS 2-3-3-7 with my MSI K8N NEO2 NF3 ???
What voltage can I use MAX ??? 3V ???? Require an activ cooling this RAM ???
nice Result for This IC, is not Hynix, not Mosel Not Tccd!

good results it seems to me. you guys got to remember, the more competition in the market, the cheaper the prices, and better the products :D maybe these will take on some of ocz's offerings? right now, seems ocz and ballistix got a hold on the DDR1 high perfomance/density market.
anyone else notice that the pcb looks kinda short? and you cant see any of the chips bottoms. maybe its an ic with bga package? wouldnt be the first ram from geil to use a ic with bga package, pop the spreaders?

they're looking similar to Hynix, so it could be ProMOS ICs.
and one more thing... ATM no-one can claim they don't need cooling and that running them @3V is safe. only time will tell... just like in Ballistix case.
I wondered about active cooling, so i got my Fluke 52 out...
Opty 148 @ 3.0Ghz
11 x274 2-3-3-6 3.15v
Air temp 15c
Case temp 20c
Temp of ram 22c
ram temp was taken under the heatspreader next to the IC...
i see no need for active cooling. :woot:

what do you mean by 'next to the IC'? on the PCB?Quote:

Yes I bet on Hynix too, it looks just like some D43 bit a little bit better, maybe just a new rev D43Quote:

yeah, i get it now... :D
Hynix D43-i don't think so.I think i could run those babes at 280Mhz 2-3-3-7 1T-->just need little time to tweak. No one Hynix D43 or TCCD can run at such timings/speed (at price twice cheaper than TCCD).Anyway i will try to proove my words :stick:Quote:

If they are not like TCCD, that would be awesome. But one thing is, seems like these don't scale as well as TCCD? I mean TCCD goes quite a distance from trcd of 3 to 4. You did 2-3-3 at 270, and 300 at 2.5-4-4... with quite a bit of volts too.
Maybe a good replacement for TCCD, but would it be a worthy successor?
My best results with TCCD were 2.5-4-3 at 300MHz and 2.50v. If you can best those timings, I am there.
How much do you pay for good TCCD sticks ??Quote:

I push them up to sweet 278 Mhz 2-3-3-7 1T 3.1v with my new Opty 148
Those babies is something between legendary BH-5 and TCCD
They like the tight timings and 3.0+ volts like BH-5 and high FSB's like TCCD

Well, How much you paid for your TCCD? 200USD atleast.Quote:

TTCD ?? you mean Winbond UTT (requires high vdimm)
TCCD on the other hand doesn't like high voltage at all.
Yeah, sorry, was in a hurry this morining. Ofcourse I ment Winb UTT :)Quote:

I'm not sure I've got a set of these Emperor modules :
PN 1799 SN6000069
SPD timings are 232MHZ 2-5-5-9 / 250 2,5-5-5-9
Can anyone confirm ?
Yes this must be Emperor..have fun :toast:Quote:

I guess I must have a setting wrong.
trp = 2 is a no go , 2-3-3-6 is the best it can do.
I can't boot over 220Mhz with cas2.
I'm currently testing 260Mhz 2,5-4-3-7 2,84vdimm.
drive strength 7 / 3 gives best stability (or so it seems )
See screenshot for the settings.
@Jaco boost the VDimm up to 3.0v -seems that voltage is sweet spot...but use some active cooling
max async at 7 is pretty tight also might wanna try 8
Thanks for the tips, guys.
I've got 265Mhz 2,5-4-3-7 @ 3,0v 95% stable (error after 2h30m prime )
The sticks get really hot at 3,0v , even with active cooling.
I'm giving them a solid burn-in , hoping for a few mhz extra :D
@Jaco...an advise do not burn it over 2.95v and do not exceed 3.1-3.15 when benching
Well, I was able to get till 295Mhz and runing sure stable.
But before you say 295 Mhz is lame - look ar the NUMBERS of Super PI calucaltion (it`s faster, then some guys could do on 30X Mhz) and for example Everest REad performance, and memory latency. :) Only stuff, I would like to beter Write performance of the memory.
Propably you could somehov give me idea, how to improve this performance? Oh yeah.. memory voltage 3.0.
P.S: Tryed even 3.5Volts on stick.. they are still runing and no smoke :) LOL

gigi77: What's the highest you got them to run a cas2 and could I see your settings at that speed for the bios? I've run them through memtest at 2-3-3-6 at 260, but not in windows yet where it really matters. And if you did not already do so could you post your 300 timings for bios. Please. :) Thanks again.
