x1900xt scored 9004 marks stock, 9688 overclocked

Meh not impressive! ATI's x1900xt was a few months late and can only match the 7800gtx! Plus crossfire is almost impossible to get! The only thing going is ati's x1900xt is prices less than a 7800gtx 512mb making it the better deal for equal performance. Nvidia's rumored to release a 32 pipe monster 7900gtx that will be ahead by a mile. Of course nvidia can charge whatever they want for the best.

and the nvidia 13k score is a rumor, dont go to anything untill cards are released

Gf4, that post was made by a member of H, and has been going around the net for a few days now...you'll see about 10.5k stock with most systems and a little shy of 14k stock with crossfire...not to mention the ocing ability of this card with either a dual core or a single core cpu will be amazing...with 13k 24/7 benching possible for $550...more than what most paid for their X1800XTs originally.

The real deal, however, will be the X1900XL...as I've stated many times.

Ok I see some of you are in disagreement. I will wait till someone from xs gets an x1900xt then compares it with an x1800xt and a 7800gtx 512mb, both stock with same cpu clocks. You can get over 12,000 with an x1800xt or a 7800gtx overclocked with a fast dual core cpu. Some of you have said who cares about 3dmark, lets see games. Ok that we shall see too. I was expecting alot more performance from the x1900xt so im disapointed to say. Have you heard how monserous the 7900gtx could be with its 750MHz core clock and 32 pipes? wow man...

Dude, THIS IS 3DMARK! I thought you officially retired from 3dmark btw? Why do you put so much belief into it. Results in fear show around 50% improvement over a 512GTX, that's nothing to sneeze at. I highly doubt even the 7900gtx will beat the 1900xtx in fear, it has a 33% increase in pipes and 36% increase in clock.

Don't worry........On Monday/Tuesday I'll get an X1900XTX to test.......I already have an 7800GTX 512MB and an X1800XT in my hands......I'll compare all three of them together with the EXACT SAME config........I think that this will be fair enough........;)

3dm06 is useless, because with some cards it go with partial precision, with other go with full 32 bit internal precision

we have to use GAMES in order to make a fair comparison

I retired from benching but I still look at 3dmark to compare gpu power. I can see that the x1900xt scored in the 9000s. FEAR is just one game and its very very shader intensive, something ati is always good at, even the x1800xt wins that one. Lets see about the 20 other games. 33% increase? uh the 7900gtx has 100% increase in pipes and its clocked higher too!

Hmmm id probably say youd get just over 10k with the x1900xt. :confused:

Without a CPU-Z shot/card clocks displayed those screen shots are useless. Even if they are valid it's obvious that system was setup by someone who doesn't have much skill.

Umm this sounds wrong. X1800/X1900 are both more powerful in vertex shading than the 7800 series. GTXs and X18/19s all have 8 vertex shaders, so difference in vertex performance should come down to gpu clock frequency, which is currently higher on ATI.

Furthermore X1900s don't have 16 "shaders", rather 48 shading units (ALUs). The only 16 parts about them are the TMUs and the ROPs.

if you think that this is a fair test, ok

then look at the benchmarks, the only game that reflect the perf ratio between the cards is Doom3

TMUs are texture mapping units; directly analogous to pixel performance when shader operations aren't present. The primary ALUs do the calculations on the pixels rendered from the TMUs. In less shader heavy titles any performance bottleneck will therefore be the TMUs (in X1900's case).

Both ATI and nV have stated they believe a 3:1 ALU:TMU ratio is the way forward in respect to future games, and thus hardware; ie as shaders become more prevalent. This is the ratio we see in X1900s; whether or not we actually see games in this series lifetime that fully use this shader power is unknown, although UT2007 and UE3 based games could be good candidates.

Those tests were run on a stock Opteron @ 2.2Ghz, with average memory timings. VR-Zone showed you what it will do in a real benching environment. Thats a big difference in CPU power.

The 9688 score was attained again with stock card clocks on a 2.97Ghz 148

FYI with a bunch of crap running and my X1800XT stock PE BIOS(700/800) I got 9994. I get over 11300 at the higher overclocks. Thats my 24/7 settings at 2.6Ghz.

people don't have to post anything or even post a theory as to why these scores are wrong.

simple facts here, Gf4ti is saying these cards are crap because they are 9000k 2k5 stock,and the 7900 scores 13k. the ONLY place there are 7900 rumoured scores also say the x1900xtx WILL get 11.5k STOCK, they also show the 7900 was run on a fx60@2.8Ghz and the x1900 was on a FX57 at same clocks, we all know for a fact the dual core will give a point boost so they won't be THAT far apart.


GF4, how does going from a 24pipe 7800 to a 32 pipe 7900 mean its got 100% pipe increase, its 8 pipes extra, its a decent increase but no where near 100% increase in raw juice.


the x1900xtx will be(looking at clocks((not being OTT)) ) VERY AVAILABLE, ON LAUNCH. that means rrp prices within days(after few stores piss about with pre order prices and trying to convince everyone stocks will be low so pay 20% more). in the uk that means within a week of launch i can get a x1900xtx for £370 or a 7800 512MB, and much slower card, for £480, if i can find one in stock(most gtx 512's in the uk, also no stock show as between £500-530ish). they are NOT in the same price bracket, officially they are on paper, unofficially there are very much not, and very much not the same kinda availability. there is simply no question the x1900xtx will outperform and be cheaper than the 7800 series, which is now dead, get over it.

the 7900 looks like a freaking beast, but looking at jump in clock speeds, and using same impossible to get memory that 7900 scoring 13k(assuming its accurate(and it probo is as its a very scaled card, its faster and has similar number of extra pipes so it should perform like that. ie over the 7800 is has 33% more pipes, 33% more speed, but it has more shaders on those pipes, its an even increase across the board so 33% faster scores are likely). sorry long bit there getting away from the point. that 7900 13k card will be the 7800 gtx 512mb, it will highly likely be VERY limited, end up costing more than rrp due to stocks(like the 7800 512). i would expect a 32 pipe maybe 600Mhz card , lower mem clocks too but still 512mb just under the x1900xtx cost, probo $580 or something but due to lower clocks will be closer to the x1900xtx in performance, but personally i think it will be faster than the 1900 in all but a few extreme shader games(ut2k7 is the only one i can think of thats coming, fear aswell).

however, assuming nvidia and ati stick to what they've done i will be pretty surprised if we don't see firstly the x1900xt hitting the xtx speeds easily and beyond. also the 7900gt will to keep costs down and give failed 32pipe cores a chance to sell, have less pipes, 24, 28? dunno. but when used in games a 24/28 pipe cheapish card will have some serious power, obviously won't compete at the top end in benching but in games i'd doubt it would be easy to see the difference.

same card, same clocks, the slower card scoring pretty much as the leaked info(that said 7900 13k, x1900xtx 11.5, x1900xt 10.5k) were saying. also the fx to the dual core gave a 700 point bump in score alone.

as people have said all through this thread 9000k is a x1800xt stock score, the x1800xl will give around the 8.2k mark IIRC, the xt is clocked way higher than the xl at stock.

H thread scores are BULL, VRzone thread scores are MUCH more on target.

but again we really haven't seen what either cards7900/1900 can do overclocking wise. ati is on 2nd 0.9nm process, and had issues with first cards pcb's and getting high stable speeds, i'll assume they've fixed that (or done a bit better) on the newer cards. will they overclock further than the 7900, maybe.

tbh, as per usual, despite what 3dmark says if you pay for either top end or the model below card in games, all but one or two big exceptions, you will generally fail to notice a difference between the cards. they tend to compete well as always, no matter what people say the 9800 was a touch faster than the 5900 but play on either IN GAMES and it was hard to notice a huge fps difference. x800 vs 6800 series, again not that much in it at all, 7800 vs x1800, again, had both, both play very well and very similarly.

get the card that is better value or has a feature or IQ level you prefer, everything else is just nitpicking.

Hze it's not possible man...Who have make this bench in first page...
at 2.9Ghz i have 10'070 with Pe bios without i m close to 9900... impossible thing... and this is with mipmap in quality setting.. just no AA no AF..

For each review i have see make, they give the bench of X1900 series at more of 12K..OC have pass the 13'500

the x1900s were a few months late?

I wonder how my 4400+ at 2.5 ghz crushed your opty at 2.97 ghz in the CPU dept???

Im unsure what to think atm. So much results going round with different speeds etc.

I just want to see what hipro5 results come out like...

When is the X1900XT arrving in the states anyways?

X2 @ 2.6Ghz. The PE BIOS puts the card at 700/800. My 11350 score had the CPU at 2.8Ghz and video at 775/875.

Actually the X1900 line is a refresh of the X1800 where the 7900 is a die shrink which means new technology.

your math skills are lacking, a 100% increase in pipes would be 48 pipes.

32-24=8 8/24 = 33% increase in pipes :rolleyes: Also, it has around a 33% boost in clock speeds, so we have to conclude that it will be less than 33% faster than the gtx 512. We're just using common sense here

newest 6.1 dont support x1900's

the drivers on the disc that come with the card are a diff rev than the 6.1's

.. but i don't understand how peoples can post bench of the X1900XT with score lower of a X1800XT PE bios.. If they will give bad score.. they should look what's the score of a x1800... how can be this under

gf4 doesn't know what he's talkin about =P. When the x1800xt was released with only 16 pipes and it pwned the 7800gtx it showed that pipes aren't as important as people think and that overall architecture matters

New games that comes this summer will problebly show an advantage of ATI´s cards but in all,
the cards are faster than before run old games just fine, the question is,
does them run the new games with AA and AF crancked up at 4AA and 8AF or more at the framerates I wont it to be with my setup?

Can I max my cards AA and AF with this x game then I be off with any card that satisfy that.

I rather wait until G80 and R600 since it seems thats when the new Vista and unified arcitecture comes.

Until then, x1800xt seems to be good enoff ;)

ORB and 3Dmark is just for those that enjoy benchmarks not playing games.
I do both so I never be at the edge in any of those but I enjoy the playing...
Time for some BF2 I think ;)

Pls be aware that prior to this, the inq and visionary from vr-zone have tested the cards with single and dual core processors, and have attaied 3dmarks of at least 10k at stock...with overclockability on air breaking the 12k barrier with ease.

This guy is a moron. I score over 10,000 in 3dmark05 with an X1800XT, the X1900XT will be much faster than 9000...

I just think its funny that when fanboyism starts intelligence (and of course objectivity) go straight out the window. Honestly who cares who makes a card if it happens to offer the best features/performance? What really is the point of brand loyalty here?

the guy on hard had problems getting the clocks to stick. I think the thread title has to be revised and he's defaulting at 500MHz core /600 mem o.O WHich explains his low scores. The x1900xt is supposed to be 625 no?

He's at less than stock clocks, with a 3GHz single core, and he still broke 11.2k, I'd say that's pretty impressive and a good bit faster than a 7800gtx 512. At stock clocks Im guessing he should break 12k or so. This matches up nicely with the predictions of hexus.

What your all forgetting is theres going to be a negligable difference between this and ALL cards (right down to int. graphics) when it comes to 3dm06.....were talking about 20 points to 30 points or so..............:p:
But seriously. Its obviously going to be better than the x1800xt, which is running close to the 7800gtx 512 at the moment, so this will be the fastest card going when its released :fact: . Anyone else wonder why it seems idiots get all the new hardware to bench first and give it a bad review?

But seriously this guy's card wasn't clocked how it was supposed to be. right now he's at 600/700 and breaking 11.2k, that's lower than stock people. stock is 625/725 so 11.5k should be cake with his 3GHz opty. Which is exactly what hexus predicted. 11.5K stock :eek: so gf4 basically FUBARED his thread title, it should be 11.2K at less than stock XD

Yes, it is all good for ATI now x1900XT is faster than 7800 GTX 512. ATI fans are all excited and all. One month later, tables turned, Nvidia fans rejoice because 7900 GTX beats the x1900XT.

This will never end.

Playing games (1600x1200 with max quality) at 60 fps before with X1800XT then spend $600 for X1900XT and play same games at 70fps. Wouldn't it be more fun to spend $600 and play the same games with new DirectX 10 cards later this year at 90 fps?

Thankfully, most of the market aren't obsessed geeks like us that care too much about having the latest and greatest at every second, no matter what.

But I will be satisfied with an X1900XTX CF for years and years to come. Frame Rates that get to a point where you can't discern the difference between one or the other just make the point moot.

sad that your x1800xt PE is faster than the x1900xt! Clocks of the x1900xt is 650/1550 I think. Although I expect the x1900xt to overclock to where your x1800xt does.

This remains to be seen. I will refrain from predictions, I am only going by facts and figures, not speculation. The fact is he got 9000 marks. Is this a good score or not? Untill more people test it, we dont know.

the clocks themselves dont matter much.however the number of alu,s each card has certainly does.the former has 48 while the latter only has 16.they both only have 16 rops however, just like all of ati,s and nvidia,s current high end cards still do.

so you have a choice, either you go by pre-nda sources, which all say that x1900xt is faster then a gtx512, exept for one... you have a convergence of evidence... OR you can NOT go by pre-nda sources, and then you discard all including your fav 9k...
