New Chip: Intel 641

I've been OCing this sucker for the past few hours on aircooling, these are my results:

Chip:

Cooling: (No phase yet, still w/ chilly1)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...kr/Fanslol.jpg

Clocks on stock volts: 4.250 (Havn't gone higher)
Clocks on added volts (Stable): 4.711
(Seems a bit low, I know .. I havn't reformatted in awhile)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...r/results2.jpg

Although, 4.759 is stable:

Suicide shot

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...kr/5ghzair.jpg

I will go for a higher validation tommarow, when the temps get lower (~60f ;))

Enjoy.

Very nice chip, how is default Vcore? 1,3V or 1,4V?

I believe its 1.3v.

Slick chip indeed...can't wait to see what else it's got packed away. :D

Phase is coming, possibly 2 weeks at the latest .

Spi 32mb @ 4663mhz:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...kr/spi32mb.jpg

Running P95 right now, hope it will pass @ 4663mhz. Im going for 4.7ghz stable.

whats your vid card and hard drive? i got only 100 points less than you with 500Mhz less, and an inferior chip. (old D0 stepping, 1MB Cache)

I havn't reformatted in ages, I got a 7800GTX w/ 1 120GB SATA WD drive w/ a 80GB SATA hitcahi. Ive beaten this score w/ my 3.2e as well ...

Update:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...4759PCmark.jpg

This looks like my stability stopping point. I need to reseat .. getting 62C in PCmark04 @ only 1.45v.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ockr/newpi.jpg

More Spi 1mb, 26.610 @ 4950mhz.

Veri nice :D

wow these are pretty good

do some more benches...........

I'm not sure if I should go for a 63/41 or a 920... Very nice results though!

dual core is the future.............but nothing beats high MHz :D

that's what's making me remain undecided...  I still have my 650 to test out though, just waiting on the PSU.

to keep on topic: still nice results EZClock! ;) :woot:

3Dmark03 / 05 is not my bench, my 7800GTX clocks like crap so Im out for 3d benchies ;). I'll try for 7k tonight in PCmark04 (I should be getting mid 7s, but I havn't reformatted yet ;)).

BTW, I had a 650, it did 4340mhz stable .. nothing compares to a 641 @ 294FSB 1:1 :D.

this 650 won't stay for long :D it'll go to ebay soon enough along with an ECS mobo as a combo... I just gotta "test" it out first ;)

Super job EZ Clock. I agree with 5 Clicks that super high over clock makes the decision to go dual core or CedarMill very hard, especially knowing u got that overcloock on air alone.

Phase is on the way *Taps on Chilly1's shoulder* ;).

Just what i wanted to hear. :D

Were all these results on air?

Perkam

yes perkman

Nice job

Did some Spi32mb today, lowered my times by 25 seconds over 30mhz. I will try for 23 minutes tonight.

 Is the XP-120 and/or the IHS lapped?

IHS, not lapped. XP120, lapped. I think my IHS isn't flat .. Im still getting 63C load temps @ 74f ambient. Ive reseated twice w/ AS5.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...r/spi32mb3.jpg

24min, 22 seconds. This is max for Spi32mb with the given conditions (ambient temps over 20c)

That's very very nice. Intel's 65nm cores may tempt me away from AMD yet...

I would move to AM2 before jumping on a LGA775. Course, im waiting for the 985 chipsets w/ the 65w Conroes ;).

thats normal for a pentium, like a nissan skyline with 1000bhp, you need to use water, and plenty of it.

nice chip :]

Ive got some new benchies for you guys:
(This is all on air)

SPI 1mb updated
25.766
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../spi1mbnew.jpg

Validated 5207Mhz (Ive suicided 5260, never registered for hitting F7)
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=78298
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ockr/ccpuz.png

SPi32mb: 23 minutes / 29 seconds @ 4903Mhz, mem @ 383Mhz 4-4-4-10
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...i32mb23min.jpg

PCmark04: 7210
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...lockr/7210.jpg

This is on an old partition, I need to DL PCmark04 and get benching while the weather is still cold.

a must have chip! have fun!

Awesome man thats not a low clock at all. Why is your fan sucking off of the heatsink? Everything I've seen and tested prooves its better to blow into the heatsink.

I think I found out why you have crappy temperatures. Switch then fan and report back!

I do agree that you get better temps w/ the fan reversed, but when you have 13.21 mm of h2o pressure, I get better temps on load opposed to the fan reversed (This delta pushes 141cfm). BTW, when I did these benchmarks, the fan was reversed, I had a 25" boxfan pushing air from outside (46f). For 24/7 use, I have the fan blowing air off of the HSF.

I dont see how you should be getting loads in the sixties with an xp120 and a 141cfm fan...

I agree something is definately not making good contact somewhere..

Nice p4 BTW, im AMD fanboi but p4's are looking sweeter and sweeter every post i see about em..
65nm is def an improvement, but why so hot? cmon chilly1 :) :toast:

oh~! good Chip

Crazy clocks but let's see some 3D

@EXclock, you should be getting higher scores at or near 5.0ghz in PCMark04 with that chip & with the 7800GTX. Heck, I get 7883 @ 5.03ghz and mild overclock on X800 XT.
Only using H20 now for cooling cause' I live in OZ where its always warm year round' (compared to other parts of the world ;) )and don't want to waste my $400 water cooler... :)

You will see some 5.2-5.3ghz PCmark04 when I get my single stage back *Ahem Chilly1*

BTW IluvIntel, that PCmark score was on a 1 1/2 year old format, so I would imagine it would be a lot worse.

tip:
- disable the windows themes << edit: ok done
- close the explorer
- set superpi at high priority
- diable the networkcards

you will have even 1 sec better ;)

When closing explore, how do I open up a proggy to paste my screenshot into and save it? I just use MS Paint ;).

You open the taskmanager -> archive -> new task or something, don't know the words exactly in english :D

close all unnessecary programs
make the superpi run
after the superpi run ...
you can open the taskmanager with CRTL+ALT+DEL
the make a new task mspaint < mspaint will open and you can copy/paste your result.
you can open the taskmanager with the task called explorer
that's it.

You mean a lot better with new XP install ? :)

:), A lot better ... *slaps self from sleep deprivation* ... thanks :).

More updates: I just lapped my IHS w/ 1200 grit sand paper, turned out pretty good, I got a 3c temp drop (no longer in the 60s at current vcore (1.435 in BIOS, 1.48v idle / 1.43v load). Im going to let AS5 settle in, might be in the low 50s.

(I realize this lapjob is really amatuer .. got my temps down a bit though)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...r/DSC00882.jpg
BTW, all that res if from my last insulation job ... seal string is still there .. gross ;).
As for clocks, I got 16 hour single p95 stable, only hit 55c, opposed to 60 or 61c.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ckr/16hour.jpg
Im going for 4.8ghz, im waiting for AS5 to settle in before I really start pumping voltages. Temps are the only thing holding this chip back from possibly 4850 / 4900mhz on air (stable). Time will tell.

More updates:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ckr/9hours.jpg

Only hitting 60C load because of voltages (1.465 in BIOS) I think I can get 4800mhz, all depends.

OMG really good CPU !!!

But i think Yonah is a better cpu, the problem is there is not a good motheboard for it...

woo these intels are really interesting.
>5 GHZ on air is a sweet number ^^

Update: Just got some Mushkin PC6400 D9 (500mhz, 4-3-3-4), we should be seeing some improvements for SPi1mb / 32mb :).

500MHz at those timings....man AM2's are going to kick arse when they come out

and how much Vdimm will it need for that, some 20 odd minutes or more...?

Can wait see the result

Well, since the P5WD2s max for vdimm is 2.3v (That should easily do around 450mhz @ those timings while benching). But, to push over 500mhz w/ those timings, I need to stop being such a pansy and vdimm / vdroop this board. Probably help my OC a good 50mhz on my proc and mem.

5 gig on air is exceptional. What a screamer. Man I can't get my northy stable near 4 on air! :( . Have water and even thats troublesome at 4gh... chilled water coming soon....

don't think so... in my point of view am2 will lose custumers for p4

Maybe for Core Duo, but not P4. P4 is as good as dead.

Update: My beloved Asus p5wd2 just died :(. I traded my 7800Gtx for a P5WD2-Premium (vmodded) + some cash so I'll post more results. Should be a great bench session, new Premium w/ vmods w/ my Mushkin 6400 D9s to test out ..will have updated results by Friday.

Hey, don't worry EZClock - my P5WD2 fires up but hangs at POST...:( Now that had Vcore mod, I did a few months back. :hm:
moved everthing to the Gigabyte mobo you see in my sig. and no problems. In fact, its a better performer at lower cpu clocks (thanks 975X chipset) and can get away with air cooling on 641 @ 4868Mhz - benchmark stable on unmodified mobo down here in Australia.
Tried the P5WD2 again with different PSU, HD's , another ATX case and with my old 630 and X800XT - same problem, hangs at POST. I don't think I'd be wrong in concluding Asus mobo dead...:fact:

and how long will it take till' mobos and bios are refined for stable overclocks on Core Duo ?
P4 maybe old, but platforms are very refined as a result.

Got my Premium today, and im pleased (Thanks Proth for the sweet deal, awsome guy) Bad news: temps are through the roof. Ive reseated 4 times (Running out of AS5), and the AS5 on the chip is spread evenly like its making contact. I have a 141cfm delta pushing air on this puppy, dont know how it could hit 71c in 7 seconds of 50% cpu usuage, anybody want to donate a sink ROFL.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...kr/ggtemps.jpg

it MIGHT be that the temp sensor is just off. do you have available to you one of those temp sensor dohickies that you stick on/next to the core, and it just reads it off to a screen, without going through the computer itself to tell you what it is? if not, can you get one?

I dont think it would be off if it shows throttling. It started around 66c.

i dont get it. what is it detecting the throttling of? the cpu is still at 4791mhz.

It does fail P95 @ 71c though (2 seconds after I took this screenshot) which it could go on 24/7 on my non-premium, so obviously something is wrong.

ahh, i see. did proth have the same issues with the board when it was his? maybe the cpu holding device is slightly bent somewhere, keeping the heatsink from making 100% contact?

Thats the thing, he was getting decent temp readings, and this CPU is lapped along w/ my XP120. Ive read first hand accounts where, they lap the CPU too much to where, the HSF dosn't make FULL contact with the processor. I didn't lap it to that extent.

Update:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pi32mb4800.jpg

Getting a new XP120 in a week or so, then I will have some SPi1mb / 32mb fun :). This ram is really ripping, Im at 2.54v on the vdimm, I will try for 525mhz @ 2.65v when that XP120 comes. For now, hope this will tie you over. (Btw, what is interesting is, this is 10 seconds slower w/ less mhz, I cannot wait til the xp120 comes / I get some low ambients)

Just broke my record, 23 minutes and 24 seconds @ 4806mhz, ram @ 500mhz 4-3-3-4 (2.54v)!!. I closed explorer and set SPI @ realtime priority, only problem is it wouldn't let me open up a new task, not sure from instability or whatever, but I had to restart manually. Just think, 5 seconds better w/ better memory and 100mhz lower in CPU clocks :D.
