Damn, another benchmark to see who's got the fastest rig lol.
Get ready for 3k pt scores on gtx's and x1800xt's.
Wont run on geforce 4's. :(
This thing is supposed to be very dual core optimized according to gamespot. I wonder just how much of a jump performance % wise we'll see when comparing dual core vs. single at the same clocks?
This time we can actually play 3DMark, so no more excuses about it not being your favorite game.

3DMark06 is available as a free Basic Edition, a $19.95 Advanced Edition for home/private use offering expanded features, a playable mini-game and enhanced Online ResultBrowser features, and the $500.00 Professional Edition for commercial use.
wow thats awesome! :banana:Quote:

probabaly gonna half my scores again:(
not even half more a quarter of what you get now
two words :banana::banana::banana::banana: YEAH
Sweet, can't wait.
im now sullen and sad... cuz i will score like 2000... with a GTX.
this sucks.but its freakin awesome to see something new.
another reason to be sad about breaking my 2nd 7800gtx =(
another reason to be sad about only ever having 1 GTX..Quote:

I can't wait! QUADFECTA TIME LIKE WHAT! It will be kind of fun to watch the slideshow though, has been a while.
I found my slideshow by keepng ht multi at 4x while htt was at 330 or so on my expert during GT2 of 3d05... 8 frames total... on 7800gtx... i think i almost had a heart attack that night b4 i figured it out...Quote:

bet this thing kills my 7800GT and this opty 148 :[ prolly only score like 1000-2000
I'm waiting for X1900 3dmark06 numbers vs X1800...The shader disparity should show itself much more clearly in 06...
Plus...lets see some gtx 512MB vs X1900 numbers too...for current comparison. First person to comment on "whine whine, you cant compare those two, whine whine" gets ze boot. Its just to see how far the R580 has progressed over the R520.
Perkam
you cant compare those vid cars you have to compare g71 vs x1900xt :P
Will SM3.0 or 2.0b be a requirement for this?
And a second GTX might be in store from the looks of it :D
wow, this thing will kill my system, I can hardly reach 6000 in 05, sounds like time to do some upgrading
I don't think my temp. geforce 2 is going to do all that well :(
I can't wait to see some scores from people on this version.
oh nice ;D I am going to push my x2 to limit now :D 2.9-3.0ghz :DQuote:

What I really want to know...is it SMP aware?
3DMark06 Features
DirectX® 9 3D game performance benchmark
Includes separate graphics card and CPU benchmarks
Produces workloads that simulate next generation 3D gaming requirements
Advanced 3D game engine supports HDR Rendering with SM3.0 Shaders, in addition to SM2.0 Shaders
Includes two HDR/SM3.0 game tests and two SM2.0 game tests
CPU performance testing via AI and physics workloads for both single core systems and multi-threaded, multi-core and multiple processor environments
3D graphics feature tests include Fill Rate, Pixel Shader, Vertex Shader, SM3.0 tests, and Batch Size tests .
think about it, if this had been released a month earlier, ATI would have almost no cards that could fully support it.
Wonder how high clock speed Cedarmills with HT will handle this...?Quote:

I'm in the group that could care less...but its fun to benchmark a 9500 (or in my case an x800pro) on 3d06 to laugh at it :) ... but also to see what advancement has occured in 3d design and programming, which fuels a multi-billion dollar gaming and 3d animation industry...which is nothing to scoff at.
DONT LOOK BELOW YET !!!!! Have a seat...have some water....ready now ? k now look down :)

lol...I'm perkammy whammy...the friendly neighbourhood news anchor for XS. Me getting an X1900 would be like thinking Mr. Rogers would get a ferrari...it aint gonna happen :p
Though many of the top notch ocers should have it upon launch...apparently the launch will be on a massive scale...

Yay 3dmarks here for only one reason, make pc's feel 50% of what they really are, kind of like the jelouse friend saying "you look fat in those jeans" deal :D  .
I wonder how many will be running a RAID of the new WDraptor's as well?:p: @ 1400 for 4 WD's, 1300 for crossfire, abt1300 for fx60, 225 for crossfire mobo, 250 for 2gb ram, 600 for 1000w:D  :D PSU...heck, that's one expensive system. Thank god tax time is coming, and the trade shows have started again!;)Quote:

US$ listed... some approximated.
thats what i'm working on and its only missing the 18gb hdd's really.. should give your suggested setup a run for its money cadaveca ;)
so do that $$$ per 3dmark pts thread again that we had here a while back hehe
I think this is better, STEvil:
$330 Opteron 165 (has done 2.7 @ 1.45v)
$169 Sapphire Pure Innovation PI-A9RX480
$599 X1900XT
$197 2GB Gskill Extreme Series PC-4000
$220 PCP&C 510 SLI

$120 200gb Samsung SATA hdd
$100 2x18gb Seagate Cheetah 15k RPM fibre channel HDD's in RAID (unconfirmed)
The mobo isn't crossfire...but then again, the only alternative to the Sapphire above I'd recommend for the price is to wait for the RD580 if you HAVE to go crossfire...with an X1900XT, IMO you wouldn't need to :p:

Luckily I have dry ice coming on Thursday. FX-60 and a pair of unannounced video cards.. should be fun ;)
Sounds like fun Sampsa.
unannounced as in you don't know which cards, or unannounced as in they haven't been announced by ATi/nVidia yet?Quote:

$139 Seasonic S12 500watt psu
$120 Seagate 250 gig 7200.8
$ ? ( cant remember was so long ago) 36 gig raptor boot drive
I'm curious to know what videocards Sampsa means??
@sampsa: what's your suicide on your fx 60?
xyus
So where can everyone download it from? It seems that only Gamespot will have it on the 18th? You have to pay for that:( Also what time will it be ready, 12:00AM Jan 18th?
chew, the 3800+ has half the L2 cache of the opty 165...which has half the L1 cache of the 4800+/4400+ X2s, which, at 2.4ghz, are faster than a stock FX-57 in 3d05.
The 4400+ X2 is an amazing deal at $500...the same L2 and L1 cache as the 4800+ for $250 less....but the Opty 165 at $330 is all the he needs :)
Perkam
Heh thus the higher OC on the 3800 to make up for the cache. I'd buy a 4200 or higher but why pay more for a possible dud. I'd do the opty thing but I'm on phase.....take my chances with cold bug on x2 over opty. BTW opty and Innovation don't mix to well for OCing memory atm( pending bios update) but if you do get the board PM me and ill help you dial in the timings that work :)Quote:

All X8xx cards will be able to finish the test and get a 3dmark...SM3.0 cards will be able to run additional tests...thats all.

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=31
not going to be very high scores according to that, atleast for a while
Compare the above score on an x1800XT to the 7800 GTX and GT.
Also, here is a full test run including feature tests on the x1800XT.
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=34
Here is a 7800 GTX 512 MB card run:
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=50
And a 7800 GT run:
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=52
comparing that with my post above, nvidia looks to be on top with practically the same cpuQuote:
