New AMD heatpipe cooler?!

My 170 got here, CBBWE 0546 XPMW :D Opened it up and it looks like someone drop kicked the box but whatever. I pulled out the HSF and to my surprise it's new! I have the flat copper base with 4 heatpipes 2 from each direction with a 70mm fan between the fins version from my 165 but this one is new. All copper hefty looking base, 4 heatpipes from the same direction up through the fins and a swapable 80mm fan on top :slobber: Thats pretty sick for a stock cooler! How recent are these? I'm SLI modding my AB0 NF4 now so I'll have results up later tonight. DIce tomorrow.

Well my PC is apart right now, needed a PSU and the gfx for benching. How would I go about resizing a 2550whatever res picture on OS X without photoshop?

dunno, if ya have some kinda image previewing software just zoom out and take a screenie, crop it down in some proggie andsend it to us, dunno if Macs have that kinda stuff tho lol.. Good luck! :p:

the mount pressure seems like nothing compared to the 754 stock cooler that almost killed me :lol:

Looks like AMD are treating us enthusiasts to decent stock heatsinks then!:D

AMD uses AVC coolers for their PIBs. But this one really is new. Even no sign of it on AVC website.

Anyway the whole difference between this and previous one is just that all heatpipes are from one side

Base is different and 80mm fan as well, unless there was a model between this one and what came with an 0534 165.

Oh wow.. I was expecting an FX style heatsink but that is nicer than the upcoming zalman. Very nice.

Thats a really nice stock hs. I remember the one I got with my 3000+....aluminum block with a crappy fan...lol these are getting much nicer, im sure its due to the heat output of dual core but still its a welcome bonus eh!

Idles around 30C at stock with the window closed. Not as good as 33c idle on my typhoon @ 1.65v 2.8ghz but that thing has a 48dba 129cfm delta pulling through it and a ton of pressure on a bare die. OC results soon!

those steppings are decent......certainly some promising results over at Oz......benchable in 2.9x ......almost up to 3GHz.....water........guess you'll be seeing a few 100 less on stock cooling

260*10 1.4v right now, no idea if I need that many volts. I set 104% so I could get 3.5 vdimm.

It does look nice, but I'm not sure that having all heatpipes on one side is that good.

that cooler looks great, better than my 3700+ stock cooler. Do you think that the 144 & 146 have this??

happened to me as well

just hit F8 during startup and load LAST KNOWN WORKING CONFIGURATION

It's 28f out and the fan over my GT's caused them to cold bug lmao! 2.7ghz dual 8m @ 1.45v. 2.8ghz crashed trying with more volts now. I want 2.9 32m :D

is it loud ? could you compare this heatsink to a XP90 ?

yeah when i opened up my x2 4400 i was surprised that the heatsink had heatpipes. not really a good overclock was only able to get 2.45 stable.

My 165 came with the same hsf

Doesn't seem loud, can't hear it over 2 zalman coolers on my GT's. 38C loaded 1.55v 2.8ghz dual 8m. Ambiant is 27f though :lol: Would be a good cooler with a better fan, probably similar to an XP90 non C.

Nah it's an 80, you could swap it for anything. I'm thinking about putting an 80cfm smartfan2 on here. They're so loud though I'd rather just wait to get my 3" mousepot back.

i got the exact same one with my 4800+ that i got quite some time ago

compared to the 4400+, this one seemed better because of the fan with less blades seem to give it more pressure than the one that came with the 4400+, which had more blades

im using it on my socket 754 since my 4800+ is on water

it idles around 32-33 and loads at around 44-47 with fan at full speed. im using the stock tim rather than AS5 because i was lazy and its jes my downloading rig anyways. am at around 1.45-1.48ish volts...forgot how many exactly...been awhile since i've used it :p:

Yeah, my 170 came with that HS too. I'm such a n00b to the AMD side I just figured it was standard. Seemed to cool... relatively well. Definitely some heat issues from having all the pipes on one side, and it's a low cooler so the heat is all given off right near the board, which I take as bad. Pretty silent though, i'll give it that. Not _as_ quiet as the Typhoon I hooked up, but not bad nonetheless.

I hope so.. It was an RMA replacement for a pos crappy stepping that couldnt even do stock speeds without hitting 60C on water. Its for a Dimes/Rosetta Rig.

Get Irfanview, it's free, it's EZ, and works well, especially for stuff like that.

Got one with my X2 4400+ in Sept. Looked nice, and rock solid. However, the temps were much better on that, than my XP-120. I was able to take it up to 250x11 right out of the box. It was a fantastic air cooler, and not too loud.

I've never had a XP-120 but I thought they were better then that. I have had a TT BT, Hyper 6 and I got one of these with a 180. It does not come close to the BT or Hyper 6. You sure you had the 120 seated right?

If you think they are that good you had better buy Crash's right away. $15 is cheap for a hs that is better then a XP-120.

Yeah, my XP-120 was seated right. I think I probably could have gotten a better fan and maybe applied more AS5. But, I do have that same exact sink as Crash. It's nice, lightweight, and silent. It's still sitting in my X2 box.

Same with my 154, I think its low profile version exclusively for opty run on thin server rig.

anyone got a picture of the label of the 80mm fan? what rpm does it usually run at? :)

Looks like a copper/al blend of a SP94.

I got the same one with my 4400x2.... Tried it and took it off after 10 minutes.. it cooled like crap and made a hell of a noise IMO.
Tried to mount it on my GTX but that wasn't really an option... :( LOL

How does it compare to a Zalman 7700 ALCU? I got the stock cooler with my X2 4400 but went with the Zalman.

Am I the only one who have noticed, that the heatpipes make this cooler too large for the dfi mounting bracket?

- Try to take out the mounting bracket and install the heatsink on it, the side where the heatpipes is, it won't reach the bottom of the bracket. (at least not on my Rev.A00)

At least on the one I have, it was a Delta #AFC0812DD which exists no where on the net!! I emailed Delta and he first said the fan is not a off-the-shelf fan, it was custom designed, and built for AMD. And that theyhave a NDA with AMD, and were not able to publish the specs to public. He said contact AMD for the info, which as we know is impossible. After some coaxing, I got the CFM rating at least, which is 29.69cfm @89.6°F and an incredible 57.13 cfm @107.6°F. I found out the RPM rating by shorting the thermistor, which is also an incredible 5000rpm! That's according to the Asus PCprobe. You just don't get that kind of CFM from a 80x20mm fan, and I also never saw an 80mm fan that was 5000rpm. The Vantec Tornado (80x38mm) is 4700rpm. I knew the Delta fan was really strong since it's a .75A fan...which of course is at the max RPM.

Cause it can't go all the way down on mine.

I played around with it. It can't touch the bottom of the bracket but the IHS is higher than the point where it touches so it's all good. I did 2.85ghz so it has to work decently :p:

I didn't know this was new. I had one of these sitting in a box from my 165 for over a month, untouched.

Certainly nice design for a low-profile, but nothing incredible.
