FX-60 OC 3.39GHz with MSI K8N Diamond Plus
-
Looking good, hopefully no cold bug anytime soon :)
-
dude, thats insane, how about some pcmarks, spi32m action? :slobber:
-
Any problems with the cold?

No problems :D
just only one!

That proc is HOT!!!! Did you push both cores to 3.39GHz or just one?
-
DDR voltage 2.90v 242mhz 2-2-2-5?
nice OC on the CPU

yes!:D
but K8N Diamond Plus BIOS :Memory DQ Drive Strength seting to 50%

wow.. that's hell of a pair of ram u have there lol..
simply awesome.. congrats :D
-
if you dont want ppl to find where you cpu came from you have to hide the black dots thing... ;)
-
-
3.39 on Vapo is very nice! The MSI looks very nice as well! Did the drive strength help at all with cold bug?
-
That's fricken sweet...hopefully there won't be any real cold issues with these things, as I might not be building a highend rig until my bday in June...and with a custom case in design for a chilly1 single stager on the CPU, and another on my GPU, this chip would make one HELL of a starting point for the system. :)
-
Nice cpu:toast: ...Can you try it with more cooling?
-
Awsome :toast:
Have you found max stable for both cores ? tried running dual prime or dual sp32 yet ?
-
I got some reports on 3.250mhz on air so I don't know what to say about this.

How early and where were they from?
3.25 on air would be enough to put me on the floor right now, so would knowing that this 3.39 on Vapo is with a "dud" chip. :D
-
I just got the info that it's a FX-60 and it do have a cold bug.

From where?
Can't say I like the sound of that a whole lot. :(

Looks good indeed, nice board, nice RAM, nice cpu obviously

No need to hide stepping and week. You can hide some numbers of the last line though
-
Is that all that this CPU can do ??
What about higher voltage ?
-
-
SPMW EPMW one of those for sure ;)
-
I've tried one with Dry Ice and there is definitely a cold bug. On Windows desktop I had to play with superpi to keep the CPU temperature low enough. I was able to run 3DMark05 @ 3460 MHz. Little tweaked Vapochill or Mach should be perfect for FX-60.

Lol why is everybody surprised about this?
S939
X2
unlocked multi
same silicon
same memcontroller
coldbug-->logical result no?
-
Maybe this is a reason why Intel doesn't use on-die memcontroller? :)
-
Well i know something for sure... intel is gonna strike back this year.... yonah and/or conroe will smash a fx60 to pieces.
-
Dunno if it will, but I wouldn't have anything against it :P

I'm actually kinda hoping that happens...they deserve their time back in the spotlight...hopefully it's on it's way.

you seem to forget AM2...;)

Haha...good thing I'm not gonna have cash to build a new rig for awhile and I can let all these new toys hit the shelves and start to saturate before I make my move. :)

3.45 ghz dual core A64 would be insane in 3dmark2005.
my current opteron 170 at 3.07 ghz my daily speed, absolutly kills my single core A64 3700 at 3.3 ghz by about 700 points at the same videocard clocks.
I can only imagine what a 3.4+ ghz from a dual core A64 in 3dmark2005 would be like :)

or you could buy yourself such cpu :)

The DC chip (0536) I tried did 3250MHz on air in spi 1M. The memcontroller coldbuggs around -45C. The chip itself @ -60, no post @ -70C. A good R507 singel phase unit will sweetspot that chip. 3600MHz would be posible from my experience.

Still not to bad I suppose...leaves it open for a lot of single stage setups if nothing else.

Yeah, and only 3400MHz on high htt is almost as powerfull in 3d05 as a 3.9GHz FX-57 in GT2.
-
woa! nice chip reachs 3.4G..the best fx60 i have ever seen.

Seriously?!?!?
$hit...this thing may just yet redeem itself. ;)
-
Shouldn't we see two runs of spi with a dual-core CPU? People should also stop displaying temps/volts since they are almost always way off!
-
Beautiful results man.
This is MSI's chance to redeem themselves with a board that will pwn ASUS, DFI, and MSI's previous line. It looks to be a great, stable OC'er w/tons of options. Go MSI, and good luck. You need a great comeback.
Think, Neo2 era. :)

I have some info in this thread; http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...=1#post1215452
-
Oh yea this board doesnt have mosfet sinks either. I guess it really dont need them afterall? :)
-
Nice clocks,
I got a question, wouldnt it make sense to feed cold-bugged chips a higher voltage then needed, just to keep the temps up? I havent seen this mentioned anywhere as a measure to evade the coldbug. As long as the voltage used is a 'sensible' value for the CPU, why not overvolt a little, to up the temps?
I think im getting gready, I was just trying to estimate (inspired by this thread, lol) how good the overclock was with comparisson to other dual core chips. But we really dont have any other benchmars to use as a base level. Whats the fastest A64 dual core chip? What the fastest dual core opteron available?
After looking around it seems tht the clockspeeds are sweet, hey we can be forgiven for wanting more :D

With good cooling, increasing the vcore from 1.35 to 1.7 will only negligibly increase load temps, and giving it more than it needs is never a good idea.
-
in order to keep temps up in windows you run SP2k4 in the background on low priority
-
If we saw some sandra benchmarks then we would see how good this chip really is. Its going to rate at about 40,000 on sandra from the estimates.
-
I didn't think FX-60s were avaliable yet?
-
Hmmm, almost 3.4ghz @ >1.4v. Thats crazy. X1800XT in crossfire with dual core drivers and an FX-60 @ 3.6ghz would be crazy in 3dmark.

No kidding...man o' man do I ever wanna see an '05 run with that kinda setup.
-
does any1 kno when these will b available? and how much?
-
-
Oh my that's very nice. WR for 6800Ultars too :P

nice set-up. . .even nicer clocks!
