Are you going to be raping and pillaging the Orb again ?

Ok I am using
3000+ stock
asus a8r-mvp
1gb ocz 3200vx 3200 2/2/2/6
520w ocz psu
200gb maxtor pata
Everything is running at stock for today.
why do you buy them with DDR2 ?
I do not understand, pay $40 more and get a pair with GDDR3 :stick:
Boy those cards are small in length compared to the X1800 cards.
Ok here is ccchttp://img502.imageshack.us/img502/9467/ccc19kg.jpg
Using 5.13betas

the results 03
http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/7...03stock1qf.jpg
All tests were run.
your 03 score sucks. Doesn't look like Crossfire was running right.
wow, these are cheap
I'll be getting one of them later I think, unless I rather pick up a x850xt.
Btw damian, your x600xt scores are as good as dead :) I need a bit more cpu speed and I can break 140 in car high, just got testing again. 2800mhz is a decent step up, now to get DX8 out and running.
:( A single x1600xt hits about 5k in 05 alone at stock, in CF 8700 in 05. In 03 alone they hit about 9k. x1600pro dont seem so great, maybe they oc real well? hopefully.
Gddr2 cripless them...Quote:

not fair, i ordered mine before you and still didnt get em :(
looks not that promising... and im not sure that its gddr2, those chips look like gddr3 to me
never seen any rectangular gddr2 chips, only gddr3
but maybe samsung now has gddr2 in the same new rectangular package so they can use the same pcb for 1600xt and 1600pro?
cf is not working for that 03 score man... no way... thats what xbitlabs got as stock for a single 1600xt with a 2.4ghz a64, but still...
and 05 doesnt look that good either :/
with 2.4ghz a64 a single card! should score 5.2k in 2k5...
you have to remember saaya he is running cpu @ stock, and yes, that is GDDR2, see how it is rectangular? GDDR3 is perfectly Square.Quote:

you can do it :toast:
Edit: i agree with 03 scores, I beat that with my X700PRO @ 450/540
gddr3 isnt square, the chips on the 1600xt have the same shape and its gddr3! 1800xt 1800xl 7800gtx 512mb also have rectangular chips and its gddr3...Quote:

Trust me Sayaa, with all do respect that is not GDDR3.Quote:

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woot:
let the price gouging begin :(
You know something I just tried to oc and it worked OC at all, I used overdrive, ati tool and oc tool.
I think I may reinstall windows
Any ideas.
i never said that its gddr3... :confused:Quote:

and yeah, the 6600 non gts with ddr2 also have those rectangular chips, looks like all new gddr is rectangular, gddr3 and gddr2.
i checked again and i think x1600pros in cf arent worth it...
even with the reduced prices...
they scale best in 2k3 and 2k5 with crossfire and scale worse in games, and so far the scaling in cf in 2k3 and 2k5 has been very dissapointing.
lets see how they perform oced, but i dont think they are worth the money they cost...
it makes more sense to get a single x1600xt or 6600gt, and if you want more performence then spend more money and get a gt gto or 6800gs or if you want even more get a 7800gt or 1800xl, and the 6800gs and 7800gt and 1800xl can still be upgraded to sli/cf later on.
well lets see how they perform first, but im almost certain i will send the 1600s back, i think i will plug em in and run benches and see how they perform, but then i will send them back again. :/
It is ddr2
So any ideas on how to overclock these buggers
definately ddr2
system still has a lot of leg room left, wouldnt count them out yet. Pair of X1600XT 256's in crossfire would be much faster though, and $20-60 cheaper than the pro 512's according to ncix.com
well the xts cost a lot more here, they start at 200$ here... thats only 50$ more than a 1600pro here, but for a set thats 100$... and thats a totally different league of cards again.
for that price i can get a 1800xl...
it looks like the 1600pros are held back by the low memory speed, i didnt expect that... i thougt their memory bandwidth was sagurated because of the ring bus controller, so all thats needed is a high core clock, and thats no problem with mods. no real difference between pro and xt there, only the memory is what matters.
it seems the memory does matter, so its 1600xt or nothing, and id say nothing. 2 1600xts beat a 1800xl, but the xl ocs much better and higher, and its much faster in games, remember its only in 2k3 and 2k5 where sli and crossfire scale that nicely!
man idk, doesnt look like crossfire is on at all. They look like single card scores to me in 03. I would reinstall windows :stick:
im praying that cf isnt working here :DQuote:

These cards run pretty hot when you use the oc utility running about 72c.
Ok boys of to bed, I will get this thing worked out.

althes, try to mod the bios file to the speeds overdrive says are ok, maybe a lil lower to be sure, and then flash those bioses, should work.
650/900 stock are nice though considering they run so hot!
at least some good news... :D
well, it can be either.Quote:

Why dont you guys check out some games ?? To see if there's a bigger diff there ?
Perkam
Mine x1600xt with ddr2 , has core 600 and mems at 400 , , Core tops at 625 ~ 630 , and mems 490~ , maybe was a bug but at 499 the mems passed 3d mark 05 at 501 crashes.Quote:

The system will really hold 2 X1600Pros back...that 3000+ CPU at default speeds will not be able to keep up. Also why is the HT link at 800 MHz as opposed to 1GHz?

Don't use 3dmark03 as a reference, it is a better measure of overall performance (with emphasize on GPU). 3dmark05 is better for GPU comparisons.
How come you can't OC them? Not even one card?
perkam, there are no games that scale better in sli/crossfire than 2k3 and 2k5... fear maybe with highest quality settings...Quote:

Overclocking is working usig ati tool, after fussing with catalyst and ati tool after 3 reboots.
shut off ati smart and hot key reboot open ati tool and set it for both cards.
Reboot and go back and you should be able to oc using ati tool.:D
I am running 166 divider 9*280. The memory is killing me ddr3 is the way to go.

the 2k5 looks nice... how much do you score with one card and the cpu set to that speed?
2k1 looks horrable though, lol, check the 1300 pro voltmod thread, theres a guy with a 1300 NON pro that scored higher than you in 2k1
sure, he had a faster system i guess, but your running 1600s.... 2 of them!!!
you sure crossfire was working in 2k1?
wasnt there some bug with 2k1 and crossfire/sli?
get your cards saaya ?
Yeah, that's gotta be only one card working...Quote:

so if this is a single card score it makes sense, but for dual card its odd...
When you try to oc xfire like x1800 the oc tool does not allow you to select 2d clocks

althes, can you post some single card vs dual card results?
im getting depressed because my cards just wont arrive... stupid shop...
ordered on saturday, changed order on sunday, they got it on monday.
monday... nothing happens... tuesday 7am they claim to have shipped the cards...wednesday oops we kinda forgot to send the cards  we shipped them now... thursday cards dont arrive... if they dont arrive tomorrow then imma cancel the order and order from another place. i know a shop that always sends out stuff the same day and you have it the next day if you order it in the morning to mid day...
Will doQuote:

that would be niceQuote:

I might order a pair of 1600XTs tomorrow before I am out of commission for the Holiday weekend so I can hopefully be ready to mess with them Tues. or so...
you dont live in the us? x1600xt is like $160 here.Quote:

sclower than x850xt, only pro is sm3.0 ...and there are a few mods and patches to see hdr here and there, not wroth to go sm3.0 yet if you ask me.
if its free like on nvidia cards, sure, but if you can choose between a faster card without and a slower card with sm3.0 thern id get the faster one any day.
For the price the pro doesn't look very good... Is x1600xt a LOT better?
NO one has done crossfire withthe x1600xt yet they have ddr3 the pro have ddr2 and thats a whole new ball game.
Yes, pro = almost 1/2 memory bandwidthQuote:
