Notice the odd points of this pic...the core seems to be "coated" with a semi-rough gray film....doesn't come off with alcohol. Also, L534...this core was made in the late summer of 2005! Nvidia knew what they were doing...

And the grey coating....I wonder if it hinders the thermal transfer at all, looks like it would to a fairly measurable degree :fact:

mine 2 BGF don't oc good.... 610 and 600 ... and after i change one to AS5... i found out temp is higher than the one is not change..... i wonder where is the temp detect point...

temp with as5 idle is 44 load 70
with stock is 38 idle load 67...

i even put the AS5 one in the left (outside)

I have an OT question as well. If you WC the core how will you be cooling the RAM chips? They are rated faster than the GTX256 but they are clocked alot higher... will simple passive RAM sinks keep them cool enough for its stock speeds?

Passive ram sinks work fine. They don't get very hot at all.


EDIT: Those with a single X1800 XT card.....don't sell it for a 7800 quite yet .

His 0512 57 shouldn't have too hard of a time making it to 3.65. His is batch #004x and this is my #0110.....

My 512MB SLI system was shipped off to a reviewer. (It was a LiquidXS demo system. So it is coming to a magazine near you. ;) ) I got a new set of toys to play with..... NDA's sux. What I can say is they are fast... and red. (I can't say more than that...yet.)

It is double sided foam tape for electrical components, in the US you can pick the stuff up from fry's. I also grabbed some at home depot it is used to hold up cork boards and whatnot

you don't even have to be in your 40s and making 120k for 2 of these you can be in your 20s and makeing 80k/yr and it is still only a week of work and within reach. However, it is the holiday season so think i'll sit this round out and still play with my 256mb versions =P

Agreed, I started off with one, and now I have 3. I also just leave mini grabbers clipped on to each of my 4 test points so I can just switch between cards easily, its a pain reaching in between the 2 cards in SLI otherwise!

Yeah on the DFI there isn't much room for space between the PCI-e.
I want to see some more results from these cards and what they can do.

I know what FCG does for a living but I am not at liberty to say :)

QFT! it looks like sc (single core) 3.2+ (sc 3.4 and up preferrable) is needed to really unleash these... or dc 2.8 and up is good also... I think the FX60 will be a great compliment to these cards when it comes out...

Nice cards there FCG. BB mods sent my modded LS here too. Its not as cold as yours but its freaking awesome. Better than anything out there expect maybe a cascade/autocascade/some really good chilly1 custom cooler :P

Cant wait for your results bro :) You are really lucky to have these cards. I looked for BFG/XFX everywhere and had no luck, Everything is SOLD OUT!

Only thing I can find is MSI but I dont think those will be very good overclockers. But who knows. Maybe I will take a risk and buy 2 of them. Waiting for feedback in my other thread :P
