Bench scores for 7800GTX 512MB

Firstly these screenshots are not from me. They are taken from nvnews forums. Follow the link and you know what I mean.

Non-overclocked scores on stock X2 3800+. Looks like 10k stock is dream come true :)

nah, it was clocked at 2.4GHz. Still a mediocre CPU though. With a good CPU this thing will fly.

Well no mastercard for X1800XT to run crossfire till after X-mas.

Current X1800XT 512mb card is available though.

Only X850 and X1800XL series can do CF at the moment.

Nothing is going to happen to X1800XT! It’s still cheaper ~$200 and less then 1000 3DMark05 points slower then this beast! Hell I would definitely decide NOT to trade $200 for a 1000 point in 3DMark05, and beside that X1800XT will be produced in faaaar more quantities! This card is only made for less then 15% of this forum members, and showing of on web reviews, it’s a same story like with 6800Ultra Extreme!

He did not get the card from nV but from another company that has them for review/sampling.

And no, the G70 mearly HAS the capability to run various speeds. There are BIOSs floating around for the GTX and GT that run all parts of the core at a single speed. There are also BIOSes where the delta between ROP/geom is much greater. In fact, you can make your own BIOS to be at whatever clocks you want.

babyelf....yeah, I can't tell from that pick what's what, except it's a fancy XFX logo (well, I honestly don't know what the logo looked like before this box, so I can't say if it is fancy or not, but I think it is if babyelf and others don't recognize it).

Stock voltage is 1,5V so there is still room with water/di/ln2 cooling. Imho air didn't feel to move very well..

With same drivers, cpu spd and video card clks, the difference in 3D 05
will be about 275-400 point increase.
Given that you do an compare using 580/1700 on both
256 and 512mb models, using same cpu spd.

boost right across the board and are opti'd for dual core processors.

THANK YOU!!! My waterblock will feel justified (if I manage to get one after price goes down however much it will)!

It also seems this fan is identical to the one on the Dells and therefore the ones in FCG's system and therefore these cores/PCB are significantly better as FCG didn't reach 625 at 1.5V (and he needed to improve airflow over the coolers to get them to perform as well as they do).

You are most prob right about the drivers but I'm not so sure the optimizations for dual cores would affect scores, especially not for single GTX. Maybe we'll see an improvement in sli where the cpu becomes the bottleneck. Just my guess.

He was running the new betas....81.89. Point still stands though, 81.89 seems to be essentially 81.85 with support for this card and probably a few other small optimizations.

I wouldn't count on a dual core giving even one of these beasts THAT much of a boost in benchmarks, though.

Don't get me wrong it still an great score.
Only time will tell how these bad boys OC with Vmods and extreme cooling.
Funny though, 2005 has been great year for Nvidia on the ORB. :p:

expect price to be steep around 799.00 usd for starters.

This cooler is the most sexiest thing I have ever seen (hardware related ofcourse), and probably the most silent....awesome...that guy from nVnews said the fan is spinning really slow...even overclocked...no problem! Easy on the ears....the X1800XT on the other hand is loud as hell on the 2nd and 3rd fan step :stick: :D

3rd step is brutal, I'll give you that.

While it is nice that this fan is slow and quiet...CAN it be loud? I'm sure many out there wouldn't mind a quick rev up to a noisier speed for a larger OC.

Sorry, but it's not that impressive for me, and knowing what the price will be..........

I score 9300 in 05 at 520/1400, and i can game 24/7 at 490/1360.

I want some game results, from hardocp myself. I hope game performance is better at 1600x1200, in FEAR, COD, Quake 4, Lost Coast. :)

It took ATI 3 months to respond to the GTX, it took Nvidia 3 days to respond to the XT. :shakes:

I would really, I mean REALLY like to see full scale reviews on this card....3DMarks are nice....but NOWhere near real life....I wonder what it will do in F.E.A.R and Quake 4 etc......I think it's gonna be really better then anything we have seen before....

If a noob in overclocking get's the card over 10k easily....well...I don't wanna know what it will do when we get our hands on one not ......and not too mention what it will do in games....it's gonna be insane at 625/1890 (Sampsa's clocks on air which he posted)

On water 650+ ... Vmods 700+? there is no competition....it's gonna be expensive...but I think due to availability it's gonna end up at the same cost as the XT within no time.... :)

The memory is SOOOO fast....so much headroom....I guess when it get's chilly we could see 2Ghz benchable....wow :D

Yeah, that's about right with the right BIOS and a well tweaked run....and it's especially not better than the XT when you consider the XT hasn't be tweaked yet.

These new cards should be able to handle all of the GTX's short comings vs. the XT and exaggerate its advantages.

Well, I sold one of my 256 MB GTX cards. Have to sell one more. Then off on the search for two of the 512 MB versions.

Out of the box, that card will be a beast. 11K single card looks realistic with a decent CPU OC. :slobber:

My dad is in Sim Lim Square tomorrow to (hopefully) pick one up for me, either Tomorrow or Monday ofcourse...I'll keep you guys posted on the price....

Rest of the world will be much worse of then people in the US.....you can pay up to $800 in some country's...even more in like Sweden.....(Ubermann can vouch for that)

The price is high, but considering the power of this card, and the ability to double it later down the road... quite something.

Ihmo it says enough over ati and their 3dmark05 optimizing...

Not that much of a difference. Considering the increased clocks from a 256mb GTX im not that impressed. Also a X1800XT does not get 16k in 03, more like 18k at least, stock.

It's because ATi optimizes for 05, 03 has been NVidia's game this round. The GTX literally owns the XT in it, no questions asked.

Hicks, get your facts straight.
XT = wins in 01 and 05
GTX = Wins in 03
GTX 512 = Wins in 03 and 05

Personally, I like 03 better anyway because 05 is a flat out CPU bottleneck with the high-end cards... Don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to have to buy a $1000 cpu just to get the score I deserve for my graphics card, do you? If you don't believe me, take the XT and overclock the card first by 10% with the cpu at stock, then take the cpu and overclock it by 10% with the gpu at stock and see which gives you bigger gains...

This doesn't occur that way with 03.

It's funny but considering that nvidia are using the inexpensive none low k 110nm process and Ati are using the expensive 90nm low k process nvidia with 24 internal pipes are only 75Mhz behind Ati with 16.

Ati's pipes do more work per pipe but even so. Ati will have to rush out r580 with it's even more beefy pipes whilst we will have to see what nvidia can do in 2006 with 90nm speed wise and pipes wise.
