OK now, I'm too excited right now, but didn't think that It will go that far...
I got it by mistake, it supposed to be 2100+ Palomino core, but.... it's 2100+ Tbred B, AIUGB stepping, 0245 "4" CPU.... running with plane water cooling, just cold water...
For 95$..... well what can I say...

Newegg's photo indicate it's a Tbred B 2100+
Past newegg photos were accurate, no reason to believe otherwise.

Newegg certainly get's MORE stock then most, problem is they have NO support there, and the order dept. isn't even NEAR the warehouse. But I think if you place an order the MOMENT those photo's are placed on the site you have 99% chance of getting same! That's really great OC, I paid twice that for my 2400 AIUCB, and haven't hit 2500MHz stable yet.

well exactly, the CPU's are unlocked, however the olderm otheroards can not play around with high mults so you need to do a L3 trick. if you have a KT400, NF2, or even some KT333, (like KD7-e and Asus 333) you can unlock them cause they can manipulate high mults

There is no mobo on this planet that unlocks a Tbred. I also don't see mobo's unlocking palo's. So the mobo unlocking thing is a fairytale.
You can change the MP because the proc is unlocked period. L3 is just a workaround for mobo's that don't support 5bit MP's.

But im still wondering why would a Tbred 1700+ and a 1800+ be unlocked in all motherboards and not just certain ones?
I think you might find that the Asus, EPoX and ABit NF2 offerings currently unlock Tbred cores successfully and allow multi manipulation from 5x to 24x.
Therefore not a myth :)
Also some KT400 boards do as well
a Tbred 1700 and 1800 is unlocked because the cpus w/ mults less than 13.0x use a different bridge structure that i BELIEVE (someone correct if i am wrong) is the same as used on palominos/thunderbirds. The L1 bridges are connected under the ceramic it is that simple

Somebody got one in finland. Received it two hours ago, so nothing final yet, but it's running at 2.3ghz air cooled, and stock voltage.
Let see some clocks on these babies, lol, I've only seen the one here, and everyone talking about them and orders flying, hehe.
The one in Finland didn't come from Newegg did it? I would just like to be sure that the ones from newegg are actually hitting at least 2100MHz or so on air before I jump in and spend $100+ on one. They are usually very fast with their orders. I would assume anyone who placed their orders on the 11th should have them today. Please post back as soon as you get them. I'm sure everyone is very interested in seeing the results. ;)
Ok people. I am a newb as you already know (you do right?). And I am wondering what do you guys use to test your comp after each stepping, i.e. 2000ghz-2100ghz....2100ghz-2200ghz....and so on. I have heard of prime98 but am not sure what it is or what EXACTLY it is used for.

p.s. My proc. will be here thursday. I will show results for air cooling (Vantec aeroflow w/ 5500rpm TMD fan). That should give everyone and idea of how good these are.

Prime95 -> you use the "torture test" option in the program.
It stresses cpu & mem, so you can check to see if it's stable.
If it's not stable, it tells you it had an error in calculations.
If it's stable, it just keeps running.
Usually you can tell if something is stable within 10-20 minutes. I will let mine run a couple hours to test, when I'm finalizing something.
You can also use it as a burn-in proggy.
Search for it on google.
Very interested in the results, so definitely post them.
2100 mhz on air for $101 is a good ratio -> $.21 per mhz. :D

Well, I just said screw it and ordered one. I'll do like everyone else and post back when it comes in. The thing about it is that newegg lists it as AXDA2100DUT3C which should pretty well guarantee it to be a Thoroughbred "B", but the only question now will be as to whether it is one of the "good" AIUGB's, or one of the crappy JIUGB's. All I can do is hope. :rolleyes:
For now there's no indications for a presence of JIUCB 2100+ ;) Only AIUGBs :cool:

I have one of the 2100 Tbred Bs that was ordered from Newegg. It is AIUHB stepping. My KT4 Ultra (KT400) board doesn't give me multiplier control so I am out of luck there. Anyway, i set to using Fuzzy Logic 4 to try and overclock it and the system locks up at anything over 140 using the stock voltage. How do I get higher? My goal is to get to 166 mhz.

Well, first thing is, what kind of RAM are you running? If you don't up the Vmem, 140 is about where most PC2100 quits. Also, using Fuzzy Logic does not always work as well as booting with the desired FSB from the bios. Also, why do you say the board doesn't give you multiplier control? Are the L1 bridges cut on your CPU? I haven't seen any Thoroughbreds with cut L1's. Make sure you have the most recent bios. My 745 Ultra allows up to a 15X multiplier which should be plenty to test it a bit further if you only have PC2100 memory. If the memory is the problem, try upping the Vmem. Some sticks of memory respond really well to that. Try about 2.8V and see what happens. I know that board has to have at least as many overclocking options as mine. If it is not your memory, try connecting the last L3 bridge (on the right side). That will open up the lower multipliers (12.5 and below) if your board does not already do that for you. Then run up your FSB to 166 and see what you can get out of it from there.Quote:

On a tip for Knight ELite that is exactly what I did and I was able to boot into windows and complete a 3dmark test successfully. Currently the system is running at 2172 mhz with no problems whatsoever. 166x13, memory is using ultra timings @ cas2.Quote:

Voltage is currently set at 1.7 but to be honest, I raised that at the same time I raised the FSB to 166. I haven't tried to boot it at 1.65 or 1.6.

the samsung cas 2.5 pc2700 will usually hit about 180-185 mhz.
512 meg stick for $130.
cas 2.0 vs cas 2.5 = not a very big difference. For me = 100 3dmarks. 2.0 more unstable, but again, this was a 2.5 chip.
tunaman i have an MSI KT3 which from what i know it wouldn't run at anything other than 'normal' to hit high front side bus speeds ...... if you wanna go higher than 166 maybe you should back it doen from ultra to fast or normal

They cost quite a lot overhere ($144) (in comparison with USA) but I think it will be worth every cent; 2400+ costs exactly twice that amount.
I'm gona go and O/C it, but I only have Zalman Flower Cu ( and a TT Volcano 6+ with that acreamer of a fan nearby) so I don't expect too much from this cooling setup, but it should still be interesenting. I'm gonna let some cool air in :) and that should help things a bit.

And that's with very poor air cooling courtesy of Zalman CNPS 6000 Cu and 1,65 V (default for 2400+). I don't want to push it too high because of inadequate cooling, but there you have it 2400+ for half the price.
I know my OC is pathetic compared to Watercooled systems, but as an aircooled system I think it's not all that bad.

I'm doing all this with a Thermaltake volcano 7 .
I'm starting to think about water cooling + pelt set up

What are your temperatures zion? I have my 2100+ at 2,0 GHz at 1,65V and I'm gettng 70C, so I dont dare go any further. Now I need a better cooler than my Zalman CNPS 6000 Cu at 2500 RPM, and I'm considering the Volcano 7+ you have. What do you think? Is is good enough?Quote:

I now heard that there are AIUHB week 52 in the store where I got mine. Those may be even better chips, since Morphling1s 1700+ week 52 JIUHB is doing 2700 MHz on water of course; something I haven't seen any other JIUxB chip do. His friend with the same stepping chip isn't doing bad either. 2,3 GHz! Pretty good for a 1700+ "J" Tbred B I would think. No more of those in store though.

If you're asking me, there really is no way to tell from the picture. They are both AIUHB, except that mine is week 51 and yours is week 48. In general the newer the better. Morphling1s week 52 JIUHB 1700 is doing extremely well (2,7 GHz) of course on super duper water cooling. If you compare that to results of even week 51 "J" chips thats extremely well.

They are supposed to be, but I cant increase my multiplier, because only mults of 13 and up are unlocked, but not lower. My mobo doesn't support higher mults than 13 (at least thats what I think) If you want multis 12,5 and lower you have to short the last L3 bridge.

hi all , after teting my chip all yesterday and all last night. I'm very happy with this one, I had to bump up the voltage to 1.90 to stay with 2500. A voltage bump of .05 is not affecting temp that much.
atastrumf my temp are decent.
Remember my board (8k3a+) has a major temp bug. So my temps are far from correct.
atastrumf what board are you running? If your running a 8k3a+ like myself 70 c temp are nothing.
Chrank her up a few hundred mhz and raise the voltage a little and have fun.
Going by my board, burning my cpu in it runs @ 87 C.
I know that's very high, but remember the temp bug on this board (the heat sink is not even that warm).
Past CPU's Work great with higher voltage, the board becomes unstable @ 98 c.
Zion, nothing realy wrong with 8k3a temp reading, because it reads temp from internal diode. But I also believe that diode in tbred is realy not showing correct temperature, because it's much higher then on my palomino, but that's not the problem with mobo but with the diode inside cpu die. It probably needs to be compensated +- in motherboard monitor, I need to check that with compensation formula for diode calibration.
Just checked, for calculating precisely you need more accurate reading, but anyway my calculations are pretty OK because I can measure water temp very well, so I calculate -18°C compensation in mbm with my setup and you can easly substract that from your 8k3a tbred readings (palomino were OK by default).
morphling1, the problem is not with the Tbred diode itself, but the 8K3A board.....
I had some conversations with Chris from EPoX.nl and was told, that the board is reading the sensor incorrectly..... the Palomino reading is right, but the Tbred - way too high...
But then the problem is not in motherboard, because it didn't changed but in cpu diode which change and probably use different resistor. So temperature compensation is in order and I calculate that to be ~ 18°C lower than original. And now that I checked also with wpcredit halt command enabled which shuts down everything my cpu is idling few degrees above ambient temp where it should be.
morphling the problem is the board.
I have and ran a 2000 palimino, and a 1700 tbed core a on my epox, before I got my 2100 tbred core b.
And with both cpu's, the temp was highly out of whack on the epox.
Running the tbred cpu on my abit same voltage (2.1) I was around in high 50c.
On my epox same voltage and heat sink, I was in the high 80c.
My palimino ran about 10 to 12 c lower then the tbred in the epox (50c abit / and 75c on the epox) but ran the same on the abit.
These were under full load temps.
On both boards I use the CPU halt command also.
So in short high eighty temps on my epox with the tbreds do not worry me.
I guess then it's problem from board to board, which of corse make it the board problem :D. Well my palominos temps were correct, but tbreds are way off.
But I know what I'll do, I'll add Senfu remote sensor so that it will touch the core, and have diode temps just for orientation.
Man this is really good news. I've been in doubt of this temps since I first put a Tbred A 1700+ in my Epox 8K3A. I dismounted a heatsink within 30 seconds of turning the PC of, and the copper was quite cold to the touch, compared to when I took it of off a Palomino, but the MBM temps were in the 60-is at 1,55 V. That's 10 C more than it showed for a Palomino, and the Palomino produced a much warmer heatsink. Now its all starting to make sense. I'll try to measure the temps with my temp. probe that came with the case. Its thin enough to slip under the heatsink, but access could be better.
