Hey guys,

at the very beginning thanks for all the nice evenings I spent here watching you overclocking, now I can finally bring some, I would call it "good" but not impressive, overclocking here on my own :toast:
I wanted 3GHZ at the beginning of this year, but a damaged Prommi sold to me (without knowing it), 3500+ NC damaged while transporting by DHL, 2x coldbug Winchesters and more stopped me...I was testing a 3500+ NC again last week to make sure my rig is 100% subzero-capable...today I finally got my 3200+ Venice E3...

I will install a fresh XP tomorrow and see if I can get 26s ;)

The maximum stable I had...seems my RAMs are stopping me :( Won't do 266MHZ with dividers (270MHZ 1:1 with my newcastle just yesterday) Think I have to get some TCCDs.

Some 3D Benches with just one single 6600GT running 565/1200MHZ for these benches. It isn't a good clocker and will give me errors in shader tests @570MHZ gpu :( will replace it soon, I guess.

I'm glad to finally seen 3.2GHZ on my own...maybe 3.3GHZ with a little bit tuning for SS would be nice. I will have time this weekend so I think I can improve some things. Processor is running for ~5hours now...with the second boot (!!) I hit the 3GHZ which was really amazing because it was a lot harder, or often impossible with the other 5 processors I had - GREAT processor :clap:

NOT a suicide shot...still booting without problems, but no superpi anymore with any dividers...seems I'm out of the stable range and I don't have voltages left :( But 3.3GHZ in Windows would be sweet - will go for it during week-end...

I'm facing problems in prime.
32m is no problem, OCCT test runs as well but prime will crash within 1minute ^^
any ideas? windows reinstall soon but I don't think this will help...no dividers helped...small fft crashing as well in less than one minute...strange...

ah 32m under 25minutes....the 3183MHZ run had bad ram timings I just remarked.

Nice chip SoF. Post an A64 tweaker shot, maybe we can get the 1m a little bit faster. Couldnt find it, but is IHS on or off? Would like 1.75v do anything?

IHS still on it, had a NC without and it wasn't that good with my Self-made prommi kit.
It is already 1.75V in bios just CPUz reads it. will measure it today because I don't trust this sensor ^^
I'm having problems with Prime...won't run even 1minute...A64 screen not uploaded yet I will do it after work - uh have to hurry it's already 5min past 9 ^^

I think it would even scale with more voltage, I'm thinking of volt modding my gigabyte ^^ 3.3GHZ without IHS and 1.8V should be possible @1m I think :D

I see you're following in Mr. Roadster's footsteps :p: He's also using a gigabyte and if you haven't noticed, he's running 1.9+Vcore. My cpu needed 1.66 to run 1m @ 3300 and to do this (all with ihs still attached):cool: :

If I'm correct my Board will stop ~330HTT :(
I would really like some more voltages for the CPU...but I reached what I wanted so I think I won't mod it for now.

What are your temps? I'm not sure if the -40/-38°C (I think ~-35°C cpu) is the best temp for the venice when looking to Mr.Roadster...

Well my stepping is 0521DPWM and I am running a modded prommy at -40c at the chip. But your chip looks like it had more in it I would say get that ram tweaked and clockgen the hell out of it. LOL

yeah friend of mine suggested clockgen as well.
problem is that it will get unstable for any reason @266MHZ with dividers. therefore I can't pass 1m with 166er divider @3210MHZ :(
this will be an exciting week-end. 26s Pi is a MUST HAVE for me now ;)

I have a modded prommy giving ~-40°C load as well - welcome to the club :toast:

Of course you should measure your voltages you have an extreme cooling system multimeter is must!

12.1V + 5.1V stable!
OCCT running @3GHZ @1.55V...want to burn in after your burn-in guide...i think i kicked my winchester burning it in the first night with 2960MHZ @1.65V which was total maximum and was never reached again afterwards...I'm still not sure but I have the feeling before this run it wasn't that coldbugged as it was after this night...

will go on OCCT today because this seems to work for me...2,5h of work and then it's going on clocking ;)

Your PSU voltages are OK so find the first MSFs using OCCT and fill table....

Xm have you put extra heatsinks on mainboard's MOSFETs?? :rolleyes:
It is necessary cos you run your system very far from manufacturer's specifications. :D
I always put heatsinks on MOSFETs and extra fans!

I think I was one of the most crazy air-cooling guys in germany 2 years ago....system had 23 fans blowing on everything. But I reconstructed my LianLi so there are running only 5 fans atm and a 30cm ventilator direktly blowing on the board.
This will be improved during the week-end.
I will look what I can do regarding board cooling.
OCCT 3000GHZ @1.55V will stopp after 10min @1.5V after 4min :(
Superpi is running fine...Prime will crash in less than 1minute on both settings...this was my test run during lunch...I'm afraid it is a good Pi and Bench processor but won't be really stable above 3100MHZ :(
but no burn in so far and as far as I experienced...if you're having the first stable setting and will burn in it, it will be much easier to lower voltages afterwards a little bit or go higher...

€dit: damn it will need 1.65V in cpuz to be stable @3GHZ in prime :(
or it just needs voltage and will go better but 1.75V@3150MHZ wasn't nearly prime stable yesterday...seems to me this cpu really needs a burn in because when it can handle 32m@3180MHZ prime @3100MHZ @1.75V should be possible
€²: ram seems to max out @273MZH this time...but seems temps are little bit better...3059MHZ @1.67V (cpu z value, will measure tomorrow, no need for it so far because i can't do anything on it to improve ;) ) prime will crash after 7minutes even with 166er divider (=253MHZ ram) this is not looking good...think i will switch to superpi again ;D

What's are your favourite applications????
Let me be more specific:
My CPU is 32M SuperPi stable at 2750 MHz as you have seen.
But it can run video compressions at 2770 MHz for 3-4 hours and Maple+Mathematica for 5 hours (after crashes)....
Anyway both of Mathematical packages (Maple + Mathematica) + DrDivX are not sensitive like 32M --> this program is enough for stability testing.
If you play games or other heavier applications you must be at least 32M stable and then run OCCT for 4-6 hours.

well I like the 32m....because you always have a overall time - "how fast is my system"
for testing stability I used prime normally...even if I do not think Prime itself is reliable enough. For all day use I test Pi32m first and it must be a good time. Then I will go for Benches and at last there comes Pi. Maybe I will change to OCCT...I will check this tool tomorrow.
Just reached my board limit again...as I thought - 327HTT is bootable but from then on it will stop before detecting IDE drives...I read exactly the same with another german guy and his board....maybe I will try the F8 and F9 bios but the ram timings are F*cking limited why ever....the k8nxp-sli f7 is so sweet when speaking about ram timings but the new bios revisions are crap imo.

trying to get 26s but my ram is already maxed...whatever I do in A64 tweaker...it will get unstable, slower (no matter which direction I change settings) or crash...I tried some of my BH5 settings but they won't work...I think it's a disadvantage to only have CL3 cl2.5 will crash...CL2 the same...1T already...

it will need a lot more volts for OCCT and Prime...both are very similar when looking at stability...If OCCT will crash within 15min, Prime won't run longer than 15min as well.

€dit: Installed MBM5 and now OCCT reads my values, showing -63°C CPU on load, but I think it's ~ -35 to -40°C real.
I had another 3059MHZ OCCT but forgot to update the screen :slapass:
It's now running again ;) Seems to be related to RAM timings as well, because I have to make several changes to get it stable compared to my SuperPi settings...I have a small sheet of paper here for SuperPi RAM settings, Prime RAM settings and OCCT RAM settings....I always have to switch it to get the program stable...I'm happy to know what I'm doing, else I would go crazy right now :cool:

I think it is the crappy IHS!
The temp sensor on the board isn't reliable in accuracy but it shows intersting things:
I will have idle shown temp of -85 to -80°C.
Pi will get it down to -70 to -65°C.
OCCT will run even at higher speeds as long as this temps are shown...but it will go below -59/58°C and stop!
This is the case with higher voltages and high speeds.
I decided to rip it of this night, will mod it a little bit (will show pictures), apply new paste, and re-attach it. I don't like to run without because it is more difficulty to mount the prommi correctly to a processors without HS to get display temp = bios temp until 0° (gigabyte bios stops there) than with HS!
I'm excited if I'm correct because only Prime and OCCT will get the processor down to these temps, Pi will not for any reason and runs stable.
And if I can boot without any problems @3280MHZ (I can start to bench but it will crash after a while but NOT immediatly) it should be possible to get 3.1GHZ Prime. I hope it is just the f*cking HS...

damn I tried to get the HS off but I can't cut anywhere. seems the razorblade I used was crap :(
stopped before damaging the processor. will retry when I have a new razorblade :/

anyway I was a little bit angry this morning...prime just stopped after reinstalling the cpu after 38min while I was sleeping (thought 3030MHZ@1.7V would be no problem) so I tightend the screws more and see - I had 5°C better load temps and OCCT@3045MHZ is possible again.
It really seems to be pressure related...I won't get the IHS off this week-end. Hopefully tuesday I will do so...I have to be carefully I would kill myself when destroying this wonderful chip because of a silly HS :slapass:

:slobber: this is a great difference OK we all know that OCCT is more sensitive than 32M but for my system is 30 MHz only...
Anyway each system is different but I think you are right --> IHS...
Of course you compare MSFs with same settings and Vcore? :rolleyes:
SoF if you fold try a folding program many people use folding programs for stability testing and tell us your MSFs etc...

I did a lot tests today and for 1.65V it is a difference of ~100MHZ between 32m and OCCT...3090MHZ will pass 32m @3100MHZ while temps staying under -64°C.
As sooon as I start OCCT or Prime temps are rushing down to -63/-62 during the first minute!
I think we should consider the HS when asking people about Prime/OCCT problems.
I think the thermal paste AMD uses craps out under subzero and under high load...I can't even burn-in now because I don't want to risk burning in cpu with hotspots on the die ^^
There is no problem with A64 and prime in general!!!
I had 6 processors now and even my coldbuged winchester were able to run prime on stock voltages under prommi. under air they got ~2650MHZ....it seems to me that Prime and OCCT causing hot spots where the AMD's 90nm processors are very sensitive to...just my opinion ;)

my HS is OFF!
its modded and reattached...but after 2 hours on working carefully and concentrated getting this biggest f*uck of hardware "gimmick" ever off, I was too struggled and just polished it a little bit, applied silicon paste and reattached it...first run --> screws not tightend enough (I'm always facing this problem with my self-made socket kit) and not even 2890MHZ @1.45V....I finally got it, but got no Pi 1m @3150MHZ because temps raised fast down to -55°C and Pi stopped...tried a little bit, but I haven't looked close enough on pressure between HS and DIE i guess...will do it again tomorrow...if it still won't work I will TRY to mount it naked...but this cute little DIE seems so sensitiv ^^
It will never stand against my Prommi, not thinking about it will always mount not 100% planar it will fix when tighten up screws........

...hate to know I could get 3270MHZ Pi 1m relativly easy when I can improve heat-transfer between evap and die...but I always have to risk the best piece of hardware I ever had and I would have no money left this month for buying a new one....this will be a loooong week (it's again 2:30 in the night in germany for all the ones in other time zones and I have to work tomorrow but I can't give up and think about nothing else - lol)

2750 is 30 :) modded and not :) tccd bh5 a bit lower :)

Yes for 3,3Gig 26.X sec is a bit slow... ur right.

but i dont think xtasy tweaked his windows for spi.

with a little bit of tuning 25 seconds in 1m are possible i think.

so I finally did it - prommi mounted without HS!!!
HUUUUUUUUUGE load improvements of 10-15°C under low load yeah...high load improvements as well, first time I ever passed OCCT @3070MHZ @1.65V today...
IDLE improved by only 3-4°C but this was exactly what I expected.

Think it was worth it....load temps over -60°C (OCCT) before, until now (3150MHZ @1.7V 32m try, facing problems with 1T but for 1m it can hold it :D ) I never saw it again....think I finally will make a prime run again tonight...time for burn in I think.

What do the temps say on your mach? Cuz mine say -54c under load but windows will say 0c or -1c and we all know thats not correct.;)

(I could improve RAM timings because of better temps, but I think the board is at the very end...increasing chipset voltage up to +0.2V won't bring any stability...32m runs @3150MHZ @1.7V but Prime and OCCT will still crash within 10s)

The real temps I'm really not sure...but maybe too cold....not even 1MHZ higher Pi (but 322HTT is near board end :/ )
-45°C display temp unload is ~-55°C measured (veryfied with ice-water) (OCCT shows ~-90)
some idle temps:
1.4V-1.55V display ~-45/-44°C (OCCT ~-89/88)
1.65V display ~-43°C (OCCT ~-87/86)
1.7/1.75V display ~-42°C (OCCT ~-86)
When I had air-cooling on it OCCT showed ~-19°C ^^

I think the run is over now...board maxed, maybe a 3.3GHZ S.S. but not this week...I had enough for the moment...1 week is over...0:30 after midnight again - WTF? didn't remarked that until this moment....time to get some sleep...good n9...

€dit: 2:30 o'clock in the morning here, again only 6 hours left before I have to work again...BUT THIS IS CRAZY!!!
Prime @3044MHZ @1.65V was running fine and I finally decided to sleep...my 24/7 rig and the compressor immediatly shut down with a slight *boom* I first didn't realized because I almost felt asleep until the compressor beeped as hell (as it always does because it's not connected with the board) I JUMPED up, last night was hard enough, had 3-4 hours to sleep after HS cut off and testing, so I was very confused, turned off the compressor, looked for water, then I realized the server was down as well :stick: Wouldn't turn on until I disconnected it totally from energy...but I will not turn on the compressor tonight because I want to let it de-freeze. There where some minutes compressor was running and CPU was off...I don't think it's good...no prime tonight because of a stupid ****** causing a short circuit in the house...if this continues I will jump out of flat (you think ~10m are enough? *lol*)
but now: GOOD night.....

ok i will do so ;)
after one day I always can tighten the screws a little bit more...now load temps are again 3-4°C better...but after the failed prime yesterday the machine has to warm up again with a prime run :( I have the best ram timings for Pi now and they will be ok in stability as well ^^ so what I will do now is to burn in the processor on these high ram timings and see if I can pass 1m @3250MHZ (should give ~26.5s)...without new ram 25s is definitly impossible.

that's atleast 25..maybe 25,6 or 25,8 :D

anyway try with a fresh win2k3 server :)

better to run spi 1mb there even without tweaks

well I was running the 1m @3200MHZ and the RAM isn't that good for PI.
There are several timings I can't tighten without reboot or freeze.
Therefore the 3200MHZ gave me the 26.9s and 50MHZ should give maximum improvment of 0.5s (not sure if my RAM could handle this with 166er divider).

primed this night on 3060MHZ and had a Pi 1m @3220MHZ @26.938s BUT I wanted to save the shot and *REBOOT*
never got it again yesterday :(
but I'm satisfied. Will be off for 3 days going back in the real life to my family and girl friend...I could pass on this but my girl would kill me if I would stay another weekend 200km away from her *lol*
Will do some optical stuph in 2 weeks going for the best looking compressor cooled system *hhr*
