Just received two kits of this RAM. This ram is the extreme version of the 2GB HS which is rated at PC3200.

Here some official specs:

* Package : 2048MB kit (2x1GB) dual channel pack
* IC Spec : Samsung

* Test Voltage : 2.6~2.8 V
* PCB Board : 6 Layers PCB
* Speed : DDR 500MHz (PC4000)

I tested two kits to see if the the OC results are similar.

This RAM also uses SAMSUNG UCCC IC's.

I tested on two CPU's, a Venice 3000+ week 17 and a week 28 X2 3800+. Both average overclockers with at least memorycontrollers that can handle DDR600 with MP9x.

Venice system:

-DFI nF4 ultra-D BIOS 623-3 (official site bios)

X2 system:

Lets see what it can do when overclocking.
What I have noticed is that this IC doesn't like high voltages. The sweetpoint is 2.5~2.65v.

I also can memtest86++ 280MHz at 3-4-3-8 1T at the same voltage, but SPI 32M craps out.

I think the average OC of this memory lies between 270~280 3-4-4-8. I see guess2098 with 3-3-3-3 OC, unfortunately I cannot achieve this timings on both CPU's.

An important setting when going over 250MHz, is setting Read to write Delay on 3 or higher, 2 will nogo.

Ähm.. That SuperPI isnt correct.. U must let calculate 2 times SuperPi.. Every CPU must calculate one PI... When i try my ram it runs always, when i only test one of the 2 cpus.. but both of them.. no.. So plz make a dual superpi, then it is correct and then it is good. :)

Most of the time I tested on the Venice 3000+, which also can run 280Mhz 3-4-4-8 1T, no need to test dual SPI on X2 3800+ to show stability it is even little slower then on a single core. :)
But if you want a dual SPI 32M i can do this when i have time, I am now running 24/7 @280 3-4-4-8 1T.

Nice.. but my LEs dont want to run @ 250 Mhz with 2,5-3-3-7.... Do u have some ideas kakarote? I already tried ur guide.. but without success.. I need ur help, plz :(

Kakaroto sorry to bother you again but i´m a proud owner os a HZ 2Gb kit and i would like to see a A64 picture os the settings you are using,please.I´m with a few problems in stabilizing above 250.:(

There you go, it is possible to tighten them a little though, especially on TRWT, Max Async and Read Preamble. These were random sticks and in no way handpicked/selected.

You're welcome ;). Testing was done with 704-2BTA BIOS on DFI nF4 rev.AD0 and X2 4800+ by the way.

I can reach 290Mhz 3-4-4-8 2.6v. Maybe with a little tweaking i can get 295Mhz.

Excellent review kakaroto, nice touch testing 2 sets not just one.

ATM I'm split between these and the PC3200 HS sets, I've seen the HS sets manage 250 at CL 2.5. do you think these HZ sets will manage CL 2.5 at there rated speed of 250?

The new batch of 2GB HZ are doing 270-275MHz 3-4-4-8 average with low voltage.

All 2x 512 LE/LA/FF/FX/FC are Samsung TCCD with 519/525 datecode.

Yes, 270-280MHZ is average. (3-4-4-8)
My experience with UCCC is that they like low voltages more then high voltages. Keep it at 2.6v and well cooled!
Even with those black heatspreaders, it still getting hot.

My 2GB HZ is now 4h prime large FTT (272MHz 3-4-4-8 2.62v) after putting an fan 90mm above the memory.

mine so far: (anyone see any timings I could tighten up? Im still a bit confused with all of the DRAM settings...)

They are also confirmed 32M and BF2 stable at this speed. Also, add 10C to the CPU temp... (Damn Expert temp bug!)

I have a tangential impeller of the stacker that he cools the ddr to 2,7volts.

interesting...I just had few time to test it during xmas vacation, but didn't test as I like and should have to retry lowering the voltage.

For sure they were well cooled with my 2x80 fan above...as alwayss test the ram...

I just got my set of HZ's, and there limit resides at just under 270Mhz 1:1 with my 146 opteron, I'm using the dram settings Techpowerup used when overclocking there hz set.

Got my HZ a few days ago...does exactly what I needed: 265, 1:1, 2.54v-2.58v, no active cooling:cool:

Mine seem to do 270@2.6v with everything on auto except the main 4 timings. More volts don't seem to have any positive or negative effect.

Overall quite happy with them. They are a good replacement for my Ballistix when they're on RMA.

I'll try to mix them with ballistix when they arrive from RMA for some 4GB goodness :D

The board is the classic one, DFI NF4 Ultra-D.

The processor is a winnie 3500+, with a very strong memory controller (for a winchester).

It can run 4x512 Gskill LE at 283 2.5-3-3. In fact the limitation is in the board (a different DFI Ultra), since with the new X2 the wall is still at 283.

Kakaroto, I've tried those settings and as soon as I set read preamble from auto (5.5ns according to a64 tweaker) to 7ns my system actually fails to post!!

if I run the rest less the read preamble timing, it will end up getting more errors in memtest than when the settings were on auto.

I'm stuck at 265mhz and would love to get to 270mhz. ram is running 2.6v. I really thought these sticks had it in them :(

edit: it will alway fail dead on 40% in memtest. I've raised the vcore of my cpu even though it is stable at 3ghz with less voltage and I've also ran it at a low 7 multi, but still the same erorrs

That is correct, when I set 7ns in the BIOS it also won't post. But when you set 7ns in A64tweaker it will work ;)

Btw: is your Trtw at 3?

Just a thought, would you please include A64 tweaker shots ;)

I've been using 510-2fix until now, but the bios is giving me high multi issues with the uccc i currently have at my disposal. 285 sp1m is no problem with 9x, with 10x no go - mal/preamble/drt settings are being picky :)

Hi kakaroto, so if this value is set in A64 Tweaker and not in the bios it will post? thats pretty random, I will try it asap once I can get to my main pc.

Write to Read Delay is set to 4 so it hopefully yields better stability.
currently have the ram on a divider but it seems to perform 10% worse than when its 1:1 with the cpu, whats the deal with that then? any tips to help this ram out on a divider?

also ben805 said something about swapping the sticks around, anyone know how that will help?

The dfi has one dimm "stronger" than the other. By placing the weaker stick into the stronger dimm slot you should get a more even performance.

dividers impede bandwith, thats about it :p: What kakaroto was saying, is that the setting (at 7ns) works fine, but you CANNOT boot up (i.e. post) with that setting set in bios.

Try switching the sticks, works well with my bh5's!

switched them around and now my max is 260mhz opposed to 265mhz :( must have had it right the 1st time.
doh, looks like I got a poor overclocking pair, I've had value ram with more head room, ah well.

man....i cant even get mine to pass memtest at 270 @ 3-4-4-8 with 2.8 vdimm. im desperately trying to get mine to run 1:1 @ 273 MHz. im using a 9/10 divider now :(

when i tried Micutzu's settings from the first page it would restart and wouldnt POST with long beeps. had to reset bios to get it running again :(

help please?

im kind of new to overclocking, but all my settings are done in the BIOS. will a64 tweaker pick up my current settings? thanks. i will post screens when i get back from work.

So you are only setting your 24/7 settings through windows via A64Tweaker and not in BIOS? Cause no matter what Async Latency or Read Preamble i use in BIOS will never allow me to get past the POST or to windows.

So I guess I am just wondering, are most people just running loose in BIOS and then having A64Tweaker set everything in windows after they reboot? :confused:

Thats with phase (Mach II) and 166 divider. HTT for me 325, 270FSB stable. However I want more FSB cause cpu is 3330Mhz stable at 1.58v. Memory is not cooperating....lol

So I switched them from:

Orange Slot 1 -> Orange Slot 2
Orange Slot 2 -> Orange Slot 1

I couldn't get 270 stable on the following bioses before I switched them: 623-1, 623-3, 704BTA and the latest FX-60 bios.

I'm currently on 623-3 and I could pass a bunch of test #5 and test #8 all the way up to 275 with everything set to auto except 3-4-4-8. With the same settings at 280 test #5 would result in 2 errors on the first pass and a few more in later passes.

I'm probably going to run it at 270- I have a feeling I may be able to get 3-4-3-5 stable. Screen shots to come if I do.

i can go up to about 274 (273.97) with clockgen before it starts to fail. any suggestions?

Well so far looks like the max of my sticks are 272 with 2.6v for one and about 260 with 2.6v for the other.. I have yet to try more volts, but the bump from 2.5-2.6 only gave me about 1-2MHz.

And they won't work together at 260, trying 258 now.. :(

Oh well, I'm pretty sure all I need is 255 for 312x9 with 166 divider, I really wasn't expecting the 280 that I would need to run a 180 divider..

its disappointing to read all these reviews raving about how great these sticks are and all these graphs showing 270-300 MHz then barely getting 265 out of them when you get them, lol.

im thinking more tweaking has to be done. i REFUSE to accept these results :p:

258 actually failed memtest after about 10 passes of test #5 (only test that fails) but I put the weak stick in slot 4 and the problem seems to have gone away. I will run it overnight though

TREF is 3684 (I tried all the bottom 8 but they didn't do anything better, and also 1032 as suggested earlier but it was horrible).

I just played Source for 2 hours at these settings, but it finally crashed on me.. drive strength was 7/2 and I just set 7/1. I'm thinking this is probably gonna be the stable one

I am still happy with these sticks, max memtest stable also seems to be max game stable which is a good thing.. there was about a 160MHz difference with my Ballistix on max memtest/max game stable.. :rolleyes:

BTW you guys say RP of 7 won't boot, it works fine for me. Only when I set 10/8 it wouldn't boot

Really, maybe I'll have to try tightening mine. I think I'm gonna go memtest and play with it some more, see what I come up with

edit: Anyone know if burning in RAM works with anything other than BH-5? I know with that stuff you run it under really high volts and memtest it while it's unstable at some high MHz and it's supposed to gain a few MHz.. and it actually works unlike CPU burning in from what I've gathered. If I could get an extra 5 MHz or so with this stuff it would give me plenty of headroom to push the CPU with a 166 divider

edit2: I'm gonna try some low voltage burn in like you would a CPU overnight, you gotta find out if something works somehow huh :rolleyes: 280MHz with 2.5v should be good..

im using these BIOS settings with 704-3 and im stable at around 265 or so.

i guess my pc doesnt like 11x multiplier or something because when i set it to 265 x 11 it doesnt pass SP2004. i see everyone who has it at a high speed has their multipliers to 9 or 10. is this right?

Well looks like mine might at least do 3-4-3-8 at ~255.. guess I can't complain with a slight OC and better than stock timings

I was about to buy that OCZ Gold UCCC kit but decided against it since I can do 3-4-3-8, and I either need ~255MHz with 166 divider or 280MHz+ for 180 divider with my CPU OC.

I will have to wait for Teamgroup Micron to become available in the US to use my 180 divider :)

need some help from you to help me get 270+ with my G.Skill sticks.

actually i'm ROCK SOLID with rams at 265mhz with 2,7V and with my cpu running at 290. making some tests i've noticed that my opteron 170 can be stable even at 3ghz, but to do that i really need to get the memories to be solid at 270mhz.

i've tried kinda EVERYTHING, changing tref, max asinc latency and read preamble, idle cycle limit to 128, trc/trfc to 16/18, trtw to 4... nothing seems to work at 270mhz! :( i really don't need 1mhz more than 270, but how do i get to that?!

of course i can do more than 265, but not stable...

the S/N of my memories begins with 0501... so i think they're kinda old sticks, i hope that 265 is not the limit of my sticks... :( :(
