I just got my Gskill 2x512MB GH DC kit. It works great at 200 @ 2-2-2-5, 1T, 2.7v on NF7-S v2. But once I overclock it, even 201 @ 2-2-2-5, 1T at any vdimm, it gives million of errors in memtest#86. But somehow, now the ram is burning-in at 235 @ 2-2-2-5, 2T, 3.2v stable.
p/s: i did try many modd. bios but it doesnt help at all.

IT seems to me that this G.Skill 1GBGH likes high Vdimm al lot.
Mine reached 248 (254 with PI 1M), 2-2-2-5 at Vdimm 3.64V, not very stable lower than that.

but what I concern is on NF2 chipset mobo.
might be a pcb issue. Most older bh5 use reference or jdec boards. Most new dimms use bp pcb
plus utt is a bit different, needs alot of volts. Not sure what to say as I've not used utt on nf2
voltage is not prob for me since i'm using ddr booster and i've a 92mm fan blowing it. but the ram acting weird, cpc on only limited to 200 @ 2-2-2-5 as it labelled on the sticker, even 1 more mhz will gives lots of errors in memtest#86.
on an NF2 board you'll be lucky to get 230. More like 220 is what you can expect. If you have a volt modded board (chipset, vtt, etc.) and a tweaked bios you might get a bit higher. If you're talking about the new bh-die, you can forget about it. The new ram doesn't really like NF2 architecture and hardly anyone has had real good success with it.

I have every suspicion its a memory controller setting that is NOT accessible by the user.
I have 3200Gold BH5, old BH5, and UTT-CH.
I cant get 1T past 200-210 with any BH5, and barely get 225 2T.
The UTT-CH on the other hand, 1T 250Mhz x10 8,2,2,2.0 @ 3.45Vdimm no problem. So the memory controller and CPU are not the issue, the interaction of the BH5 and bios are the issue. This is on DFI Infinity, Vmod'd up the wazzu, and a great 2600+ mobile.
One of my friends wants to buy a good set of 2x512 UTT that will work nicely with his NF2. I offered my 2x512 TwinMOS SP (BH5 UTT), but I told him that he probably won't get 250fsb like it can do... told him he'd need 2T and probably would top out around 230-240ish at 2-2-2.

The 252 @ 2-2-2-11, 1T is based on old school 2x256MB double sided bh5. But now i'd experience problems between my 2x512MB GH and nf2 mobo. well, i cant make any conclusion since the ram havent tested on A64 platform but so far, this GH (utt bh5) does not like the nf2 mobo. 200 @ 2-2-2-5, 1T stable but 1 more mhz (201) will give million of errors in memtest86. so far, the ram running at 240 @ 2-2-2-5 in memtest86 for more than 9 hours and got 2 errors only, but come to windows, run application and few minute later, the pc become unstable.
highest i ever got on my nf2 + utt bh-5 was about 235mhz 2-3-2-11, with 2.7v (more didn't help) and it wasn't stable.
Since, this RAM (geil value, btw) is currently at 255mhz 2-2-2-6 @ 3.2v in my NF4 Ultra-D. NF2 was not great for bh ram, really.

Remember, that Largon number was with UTT-CH...as he edited his post to note.
We struggled with BH5 for a long time without great results....TicTac tried a bazillioon bios hacks. But I've always felt "something" was setup as a default in the bios, with no user abilitry to change it, which was holding back BH5 results.
As we see with the UTT-CH, the AthlonXP's and the NF2 memory controller CAN do high speed 1T, but refuse to with UT-BH5/old-BH5. That smells out loud of a memory setting default being "incorrect" for the ram.
But all the manufacturers stopped BIOS development and moved to A64 and we never got it sorted out. At least DFI with the LPB/Infinity got closer to sorted out than others.
Myself, I'd suggest either get UTT-CH for 250x10 or the Mushkin 1G sticks for 230x11 operation with a 2500/2600+ mobile XP and be happy.
Otherwise I'd switch to A64 and use the UTT-BH5 in a NF4 based system.
i see... thanks for your correction and explaination. sound like I got nothing to do with the utt bh5, either I sell it or move to NF4 platform.

I think that Vmod yeilds Vtt 1/2 Vdimm....and you use the 3.3V rail voltage control of your PSU to raise the 3.3V rail to get higher Vdimm/Vtt then the stock 3.2/1.6 max.
On the Infinity, the Vdimm comes from the 5V rail, so a simple one pot Vdimm mod allows up to 4.0V Vdimm. I was using 3.45 with my UTT-CH.... bios set for 3.3V = 3.45V in reality.

With 1GB Kingston HyperX PC3000 kit (BH-5) memtest showed lot's of errors even at 230 FSB (2-2-2-6 / 3.45V). And the Max I could get into Windows was 240MHz.
So the only thing I can conclude here is that the "new" UTT is by far superior then the old school BH-5 when mixed with NF2-Ultra chipset. Not to mention the UTT is more flexible when it comes to memory timings whether the BH-5 have take no benefit when you relax them.
tip: I'm using uwackme's BH-5 burn-in guide and I'm getting great results with it, give it a go :toast:

On the NF7-S... not sure. Vtt has its own regulator that needed a seperate pot to control correctly. I never used the booster, I cant tell you.
Simply moding the Vdimm did NOT have Vtt follow it on the NF7-S. It did follow on the Infinity, LPuB, and Asus A7N8X boards.
I didn't realize until now that the DFI nf2 has all of the extra ram timing capabilities like the nf3 and nf4 DFI boards. I didn't know that any nf2 board did that. I just saw your sig, uwackme. My nf7 was like 4 timings and thats it, lol.

GM, you can use the WPCRSET program to force in windows some of the additional timings on any NF2, but you end up needing to boot at lower FSB, set the timings, then use clockgen to up the FSB to where you want it.... the penelty for the settings not being in the bios.
To me if sticking with NF2, it's worth it to hunt down an Infinity. As much as I luv'd the NF7-S, ABit really let us all down when they ceased supporting changes to the bios. Some stuff is too complex for TicTac, etc to deal with on patches.

:) As this is my first post here I suppose it's acceptible that my scores with this stuff and nf2 be lowest. I strongly suspect a part of the reason is a weak psu.
I tested w/2 diffrent boards. Asus a7n8x-e deluxe. At T1 and T2. And my DFI Ultra Infinity at t1 only. Both boards maxed stable T1@210mhz's Asus @2-3-2-11. UI 11-2-2-2-2-13-15. The UI would boot and run@230T1 but crash when I opened an app. The Asus would boot-loop @220 T1. The Asus @T2 I was able to get a single stick semi stable @217.(Each stick would error 32meg superpi's at about the same place) Still 210 dual channel is about the best I could do with that @T2. With the asus. My stick's were "OCZ el ddr pc 3500 gold gx dual ch".UTT-BH5(Savin' those for nf4 or sumptin' else) It's not the memory's fault. It just doesn't seem to like nf2. + I need a psu upgrade. I now running ocz pc4000 goldvx This works much better! :banana: Hehee........ I don't feel bad that 210 was the best i could do with it. Still I've seen others do much worse. I've found some of Uwackme's post's between here and the bleedingedge and dfi-street. So I've picked my power supply. I thought I'd update this thread as I've had a minor break through with the UTT-BH5 and nf2. 225fsb T1 11-2.0-2-2-2-2-9-14,Alpha's 3-3-5-3-2-2-3 Dr-str's and slews auto. Better psu helped better timings help too.(OCZ el ddr pc3500 gold gx)

I have used other double sided sticks Transcend 2x512 with jedec PCB
that managed @227@2.5-3-3-7-1T@3.2V.
So NF2 can manage 512 double sided sticks with 1T for high fsb
