Hey guys..
Is it possible to open the 8 disabled pp' on the X800GT?
The cards is visualy the same.. the same size, core and speeds.
Is there anybody here with X800gt? maybe we should check this out.

I don't know, but your avatar is priceless.
ATI has stated that the X800GT is a dead die SKU and that all the defective pipes have been laser cut. PowerColor has said that one of their X800GT skus (I want to say it was RX...) would be R480 core, bios unlockable. I think you may be best suited to sit and wait for someone to find out rather than waste $160 of your own money.
Post back if you find anything out. Cheers.
the x800gt is on a diffrent manufacturing process to the XL.
the GT is the older R480 core on the 130nm process and the XL is on the newer 110nm process.

Doe's someone purchase x800gt from sapphire or x800RX from club3D?
Some benches?
Ok. This weekend I am getting Club3d X800RX. As far as I know it is bios locked. I will surely try to unlock those 8 pipes, but here are some questions:
The right bios for this card would Club3d X850XT, right? But i've noticed, that both card uses different cycle memory. The X800RX 2.0 ns, ant the X850XT 1.6 ns. Is it possible to change that in bios? An how? I checked the timings, it seems that they do not differ, compared 2.0 and 1.6 ns memory. That is obvious ofcours why - it's the same memory, GDDR3 :-)
I think that is the only thing to change in bios, because core frequency, can be easily overclocked to the X850XT.
But I need one thing, a picture of Club3d X850XT in hi-res, with cooler taken of. Can anyone help me here?
There is a bunch of x850xt images on Google .....What exactly are you trying to see ?Quote:

What I'm wondering is, even if you could unlock the pipes, the card doesn't have an external power connector. Wouldn't the card become unstable due to the increased power demand?
You'd probably need to vmod it for vgpu vmem and all that niceties. then maybe get a modded bios so that you have the pipes at a lower speed...
I was wondering the same . Probalby the clocks will have to be reduced in order to get it stable with more pipes .Quote:

I am sure ATI must be sick of that by now, haha...
Yeah but the XLs use a core on 110nm, which undoubtedly uses less power than the 130nm cores the X800GTs use.
Well, someone said, that they are visually the same. I would like to know it for real before modding.Quote:

But can someone answer me these?
We for sure need to change the memory type in bios. I can't flash 2.0 ns bios with the 1.6 ns memory bios, right? How can I change that. I've tried a lot of bios editors, but a lot of them can't even open bios files. Maybe hex needed?
2x frequency slowdown for a start is enough?
What are the chances of damaging my card, by bios reflash? And warranty..? :-)
i'm sorry but if your asking these questions i wouldnt advise you to do it, theres an element of risk in all overclocking/modding. warrenty? hahahahaha :slap:Quote:

i tried flashing the R423 Core of The Sapphire X800GT 256MB to the Sapphire X800XL(coming without additional power and the same memories as in the GT) and it worked, the thing is that i needed to get the core clock to 385 for working best..., and in 385MHZ to the core and 1050MHZ to mem the card rocks! without artifects @ stock cooling 4940 in 3dmark05 with venice 3000+ at stock!
and i wonder what you will say about that...
If this is true, then cheers man  For the R480 there quite a lot of problems :(Quote:

R480 need for alot more power than the R423, i think not all the X800GT's coming with the 130nm, i think there are some just like the X800XL with the 110nm..., can it be?, becuase, i unlocked it, the comp knows the card as an X800XL and it running in 385MHZ core(no more no less.., in 400 it making little artifects so i put 385..., can run 3dmark05 till 425MHZ core but with artifects.. memory as you can see at 1050MHZ, didnt tried more yet...(its a friend card, he wont allow it...)
edit : i do not count on ATI TOOL, it making artifects for nothing..., same with my 9800pro, the card is completly stable at all games and softwares in 440core and 390mem but ATI TOOL making full of artifects..., the X800GT ran 3dmark05 at 385core and 1050 mem without any artifects for i think somehing like 7 loops or more, than my friend play CS:source for hour and a half and it didnt do nothing...(kept working great) just it chould run now @ 1280X1024 4XAA 16XAF at alot better FPS!
edit 2 : i think R480 GT's should work with the R430 bios of the X800 Series using 12p..., i think it should work without need any more additional power..., you should try it...
You do a lot of thinking :) Well as soon as I get the card I'll remove the cooler to see what core do I have. But I am pretty sure it's a R480. So flashing with R430... Umm, anyone tried similar stuff? Flashing one core bios with another's core bios?Quote:

yea, in almost all of the situations you can flash the bios back, i once tried flashing 9700pro to 9600NP(mistaken, took the 9550 flash diskette instead of the 9700pro flash diskette) and still i chould flash after that the 9700pro back to his old bios, and it worked just fine after that..., it almost cant be that you wont have a boot after flashing this R480 to R430 X800's Bios...

Somebody try to flash another bios to x800RX?
stingush you said you've flashed to X800GT BIOS, but you didn't mention nothing about the pipes? Can you show us some shots so we can see if they really work right?
Thanks
Yep, i wanna see too this screen!
Bur how about x800RX from club3d? If they are only BIOS lokcked, its pretty easy to flash another bios, and try how luck you are :p:
this is kool, until something badd happens:( L0L
how do you check the GPU voltage?
Check this out: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=4237367
I emailed him asking how he opened to 16pipes.

What does this second pins, near by mooded pin?
I assume You're talking about the most lately added photo. Basically it describes what to do to unlock 16pipes. :DQuote:

First of all You must have a R423 GPU, because noone, AFAIK, successfully modded R480 one. Also it seems that more X800GTs with blue PCB can done 16p working than with red PCB.
The yellow rectangle is for unlocking 12 pipes, and if You successfully connected pins marked with yellow rectangle... You have to do the same with pins marked with red rectangle - they respond to 16 pipes. If Successed... voila, You've got 16pipes unlocked :)
Small tip:
If you ar using standard cooling system on your GPU, than you should think about decreasing the core clock (with 16p unlocked) because its temperature goes really high.
just to make things more complex, WTF is up with this?

Yep, BIG THANX ALLEN!!!
BTW i will cool that card (saphire x800GT) with water+peltier chiller 80w.
I'll hope, than that card does 16p :D
Bad news here guys :(
Sapphire X800GTs which are OK with Modding 8->12 pipes have got 0530 production No. on their PCB, but new line - 0533 - doesn't play well, based on tests made by PITer... After Modding around 10 samples none of them successed in unlocking 12 pipes ;/
Hope You've got 0530 models.
P.S. Next week I should get some GeCube X800GTs with 256MB, I hope they will do well with 12p :)
Good luck with those Gecube. I was actually looking at buying on of those...Quote:

Good luck with your modding :)
Will try to mod my X800GT today.
So at first connecting the dots in the yellow rectangle for 8->12 and if I was successful the red ones for 12->16?!
Do I have to flash a BIOS for 8->12 (12->16) ?
C3, good luck, and what card you have, from sapphire?
Got a Powercolor X800GT 256MByte. Unfortunately I got R480 core,so I can't mod it temporaily,or am I wrong? Afaik is the mod just for the R423?!
Yep, mod ir only for R423 core, but try to flash Powercolor x800XL bios who doesn't have external power, and decrease clocks, and matbe rty to flash another bioses, maybe it's help.
Good luck!
I'll try :D
Exactly :)Quote:

As for R480, there have to be smth with the core or maybe there are another pins to connect on PCB smth like R9500@R9700 :?
Well goodluck boys I will see if I can get one shortly
i got the club3d x800rx as well, bought it for very cheap, tried flashing a club3d x850xt bios onto it, it gave me an error and didnt flash, then there was an option to force it... i did try the option... but when i look here in windows in everest, it still says i have the RX bios, and rivatuner showed me that i still have 8 pipelines....
anyone has the correct bios to flash onto it? :)
edit :
i'm gonna try some other biosses, maybe a x850 pro bios, and something with 2 ns, i'll let u guys know if it works...
lol ! tried an asus x850pro bios 2.0ns and it worked !!
i just installed my drivers because i now have a x850 pro ! :D
but it still has 8 pipelines :( any suggestions ??
For x800RX you need to flash x800XL bios from card, who doesn't hawe EXTERNAL power.
[EDIT] an decreace clocks too!
thnx !! gonna try it asap :OQuote:

thankyou :) i'ma try it later tonight :) don't feel like sleeping anyway :DQuote:

I've got the PowerColor X800GT, so what BIOS am i to use?
The card is clocking SUPER!! I'm at 613 MHz VPU(no artifacts in ATI tool) and 554 MHz mem (also stabil in ati tool).
Both clocks aplied at the same time and tested for 34mins with the artifact-scanner!
then first you have to hard-mod, and than flash it to obtain full x800xl card!
link howto hardmod?Quote:

Hello everybody.
A week or so ago I bought a Sapphire x800gt 256MB (423). And now it has 12 pipes working (laser cut mod) with core/mem at 540/567 rock solid on stock cooling. Will try Sapphire's x800xl bios as soon as i can get win98 boot cd img, cause my floppy drive broke a year or so ago :(

Ok, ive tried sapphire's x800xl bios in vain - still 12 pipes and some wierd sounds from video card. Oh and atitool won't recognize that new bios:
2005-09-14 23:51:21 ATITool v0.24 started.
2005-09-14 23:51:21 Detected GPU Chip: R423 (554B), 12 Pipelines, 256 MB
2005-09-14 23:51:21 Temperature monitoring: LM63 detected
2005-09-14 23:51:21 Could not locate ATI BIOS - assuming 27.000 Mhz Ref. clock
what should that mean?
Anyone can haelp me with this, plz? Anyone with more experience than me (who is probably anyone)?
stigush, would it be possible to get that exact x800xl bios You used to unlock 16?

Afaik the X800XL PCI-e uses a R430 too, I thried flashing several X800XL/XT bioses but none of the is able to unlock 4 extra pipes.
I tried looking on google for cards with the same core that have 16p open, but the weird thing is i've looked at dozens of pics of cores en the pics I found of the R430 core do have the same flip-chip and resisstors and stuf but mij core is slightly different. As seen on the attached picture you see the PCI-e logo in the lower right corner of the core, but mine says
instead ofCode:PCI>> express
just a slight difference in the logo, but stil....Code:PCI>>
express
Also there are no laser cuts on the flip-chip as seen on the picture.
Does anyone now how to unlock the 4 extra pipes ?
anyone ?
i think there isn't any (yet)
Hmm i will try hardmodding my powercolor soon. So far it has yielded some quite nice results.

I just scored 33k, no mods at all to the card 655,578 its a sapphire blue pcb, 8 pipes just good ol fashioned ocing it is a 423 core. I can run nature as high as 665, man do these things oc like mad.
