HillBillyOC FX-57 + Phase Change 3612hz and counting

You might remember some of my posts with this chip on AIR. Well oh my god the VapoChill has arrived =)

Here are some inintial results. I have to go back to work so more to come later. RAM Is loose timings.

Tell me what you think !! Check out the voltages ! This chip has alot more in the tank I think. MORE TO COME !

WOW! That's a nice chip... considering it's probably getting fairly warm at 1.68v with the LS... with some nice -100C temps that's be a 4ghz chip!

All i can say is wow :eek: Awesome clocks with low voltage there and with that small bump up the 3600 benchable is very impressive. Keep on pushing that thing cause it sure is looking like a gem....And by the way, on a vapochill to boot. :toast: congrats

I'm really pleased with this chip so far :woot:

Speedfan did not read above -5C when loaded with superPI @ 1.68v and the evap was around -41C.

I still think its got more left =)

Man removing the IHS got me another 300hz. :toast:

Really nice. All u need is some nice redline so u can run 14*261 2-2-2-5 (3654). That might be able to bring u down to 22sec pi. Hope u can get 3700 benchable.

Ya Im looking to get some RAM that will do 2-2-2-5 say 250+. What is a sure way to get there? Brand, Model Number?

Ive only used TCCD so far. Some nice BH-5 etc.. would be fun to try.

EDIT: Looks like Mushkin XP4000 and the OCZ VX are rated at DDR500 2-2-2

MUSHKIN Redline XP4000 the "only way to fly"... it'll do your 250+ at 3.3v and 265+ @ 3.5v+

they made a typo.....
the large FFT is the one to stress CPU, but they wrote ram.......
double check on real prime 95 u will understand

Actually its right about the stress cpu, as it does mainly, but large fft's stress cpu just as much and also tst ram subsystem.

This may be as high as I go on the Vapo. 1.68v is about as high as I think the Vapo can handle? If not What would be the ceiling? Im a noob with phase change.

Boot at whatever MHz you want (that you know is stable) and at 1.72V....then use clockgen to see what is the SPI maximum.

Though 1.68V might very well be the limit for the Vapo at these clocks and heat output.

Use clockgen in windows to obtain that 3.7ghz ;) Also use diagnostic boot before using clockgen. That will help

Whoa... Now I feel like a noob lol. Never used clockgen and have no clue what diagnostic boot is rofl... Please elaborate if you have time.

I'll try to research your suggestions. Im trying to find my max Prime stable mark right now.

I've never heard of diagnostic boot, either so I can't comment. Clockgen can be found via google, download the NF4 version. With it, you open it, select clocks, press find clocks, then you can speed up or slow down the htt bus using it. Steps aren't perfect MHz (they vary from .6MHz to 1.5MHz), so don't plan on getting exactly a certain speed. Anyway, dl it and play around a bit.

thats a badass chip you got, congrats.

to diagnostic boot, Start>Run>msconfig>select diagnostic startup and restart.

otherwise, you could try booting in safe mode, which others have also claimed to yeild better overclocks, but I haven't found any real world benefit. to do so, press f8 just before the windows loading screen and choose safe mode boot.

man, love your 300mhz at 2.5-4-3, that looks like the sd cure dont have any problem with a high htt.

Agent allready explained how to go in diagostic boot, i can explain how it works.
Diagnostic boot will load al the stuff allready before booting so lets say about the half of youre memory will be used. So this will get you a more stable OS.

The second thing is that when using clockgen, you are allready in youre OS so the thoughest part is allready done.

This one will hopefully give youre awesome chip the 3.7ghz. And you will have the fastest fx57 i ever seen on a single stage. So when cooling with Dry ice or cascade this would be a killer chip.

Thanks guys for all the great comments. Im researching the clockgen now. I know it will do the 3.7ghz and I will post the ss ASAP as time permits.

Well after using clockgen I think I was about at the chips limits at 3612mhz @ 1.68V

I could only achieve the following after about 30 mins of goofing off. I think the Vapo has reached its limits as raising the VID didnt seem to help. I went up to about 1.76V trying to hit 3700mhz.

At 3709 mhz I could not complete a SuperPi 1M run. It ran windows fine but would error on 1m

But I hit a little higher at 1.68V with a 14X multi. RAM is extremely relaxed just to isolate the CPU. So the times were down from my 12x301 run.

at 3.7G....try it the other way around and drop down a notch on your vcore instead of bumping it up, you'd probably overloaded your LS so keep the temperature down with slightly lower vcore if possible

I'm waiting a Vapo LS...I have bench with my FX-57(0516wpmw)watercooled(room temp 25-26°)maximum @ 3252mhz and 26.016 on SPI mod...do you think that with Vapo it's possible also for me to take the 3.6ghz?

I would definetly say your vapo can't take it :( my Mach GT can barely handle my FX55SD @ 3.5Ghz 1.64 about 175 Watts... Your Fx57 @ 3.6Ghz 1.68 is running at just under 200 Watts of heat pouring out which is about the limit, unless yours is a Vapo LS

My Vapo it's an LS...the LS has a cooling performance of 200W @ -25 right?!

Very nice 3.4Ghz with SP2004, man! I like it a lot, even though it's a short run ;) But you definetey need some great low-latency 1Gb kit to give it more justice! It would bring your 1M below 23 easly. Good luck!

I thought.. it's possible on a cascade system or LN2 (extreme cold) and a FX-57 performances aren't as good as a WC or AC at same frequencies?

I would agree with some of the recommendations made earlier. I would back off VCore a little. FX chips consume more power and generate more heat. And with single stage cooling, raising VCore can sometimes be self-defeating. Don't rely on the voltage readings from CPU-Z or SmartGuardian. Use a multimeter and measure the voltages on the board. On my DFI board, when CPU-Z reads 1.632, the actual voltage is 1.675. Big difference.

I would also look for TCCD/TCC5 that can run 2.5-3-3 timings. 2.5-4-3 will kill you in SuperPi. Or, find some low latency memory like old BH-5 or UTT.

G.Skill PC3200GH is sposed to easyly get 2-2-2-5 1t@250 most seem to get 260 and it aint that expensive (nobody here seams to care anyway though)

I have OCZ el pc4000gold VX and I also take easyly the 250 @ 2/2/2/5with 3.3V...difference with low cpu speed(3236mhz & OCZram),with the Vitesta 566(3252mhz & Vitesta) in super pi
of 0.3" less...low timings are better unless you run bus over 300...

I got the same cpu it will do 300 x 12 on 2 sticks of 512 but not on 4 sticks each individual stick will do 300 lol???

I'll test the difference between a wc and cascade

at for example 3260MHz

on wc I do 24.9, I hope to get 24.9 too on cascade

I'll be fixed if with a cascade the scores are worse

Diagnostic boot will allow you to do PI runs without anything running in the background to slow your times down. Its also a good idea to ditch the background when benching.

Hey guys.. good to see everyones results.

I just ordered 2x512mb Mushkin Redline PC4000 !

I should receive in a couple days and I will update this thread for better SPI times + Max OC with the suggestions on Vcore given here. I will also try and find a higher SP2004 mark. I use this rig 24/7 so stability is a must for me.

With a little less VCore and a little more tweaking, you might be able to do this. ;) I'm using a stock Vapochill LS. Almost have it stable at 3660MHz.

I have same stepping Sierra. This chip has dual personalities it seems. One day 3650 on 1.69v, the next 3688 on 1.65v

Got my Mushkin today...

So far a little dissapointed..

Tried it at 14x243 2-2-2-5... Ran great. So I thought I would try 13x262. No Boot :mad: This was all tried on 704-2BT.. Im now trying 510-2fix in yellow slots.

I ran the following Timings

2-2-2-5-7-14-3120-2-2-2-3-auto-enabled
Skew Auto (also tried increase)
0 (tried 255)
Level 8 (tried auto)
Level 3 (tried auto)
7ns (also tried 8)
Fast
5ns (also tried 6)

Tried those at 3.3v, 3.4v, 3.5v, 3.6v

Notta.. No boot. Hangs on verifying DMI. Yes I have active cooling.

Any suggestions?

Well switching from 704-2BT to 510-2Fix has me booting at the above timings with only changing trfc to 17 and Tref to 3072.

When working with new sets like this it's best to dedicate a couple of days to solid Memtesting and burn-in. Find out whats working from default and work your way up from there. Your good in Yellow slots, not sure of newer BIOS as I'm still on 4.14.3 (FX-25 ;))

Plus there's more to it than memory timings & memory voltage. You need everything set to work, LDT, chipset voltages, ect. I would drop multi and explore your max memory clocks over a couple of days of Memtesting. When you have found them then move to maxing system speed. You can expect about 5Mhz lower memory clocks when running max CPU mhz vs low multi.

Its stable SuperPI32m at 13x262 2-2-2-5 3.5v So im very pleased.

Now for 14x26? 2-2-2-5 and get to 3700Mhz ! Lots of testing coming this weekend.

Also got some Ceramique for my LS. Was using some generic TIM for all my other ss's at 3623mhz.

My problem is that i can go in memtest up to 3,55Ghz ~ 1,67Vcore without any errors but when i load windows the sys will freeze after 10 seconds.

Tried to boot with looser timings, other multi etc... no way to get it stable above 3,4xx :mad:

Maybe some of the experts will have some hints for me. :D

I run 3303 mhz 24/7 @ 1.42v p95 stable/gaming. So far the max ss in this thread is still my top =\. 3623 1m. Need to test one night soon maybe everything is broken in better and I can get on these redlines a little.

Ok guys, many thx for the quick infos about the 0530. At first my Vapo will be modded with a new evap and refilled with R404a. Then the load temps should be better :D

The only I seen so far is OPB's.
They are just as good as the FX 55 CH 0442 GPMW's. :)

I can play games at 3.54Ghz no problem but PI 1Mb fails on the 19th pass evertime :mad:
