Hey dudes as the title says would 1.7V be safe for 24/7 use on a Venice (E3) 3000+? Thing is (because I got a sh*tty week 19 I need high volts to play it stable) I can run 2.8Ghz stable on 1.7V and this was my personal goal and I am not happy till I reach it however 2.7Ghz is stable way below on 1.6V but i dont care... So what you guys reckon 1.7V 24/7 use safe?

1.7v should not me any problem @ 24/7, but not higher.

Be carefull! I've seen some Venice cpu's dieing after some little hours in burn-in @ 1.75v so I didn't recomend you to pass 1.6~1.65v to 24/7.
Maybe some guys don't agree with me but I'm not joking. Some friends that have updated winchesters to venice don't agree with me to and some days ago they have their cpu going to rma.
You have very good temps, in my country the ambient temp is 27ºc +- so the cpu temps are more higher than your but be carefull man.

I see one running prime95 + spi 32m one day @ 1.7v
When he puts it at 1.75v only run prime95 for 2 or 3 hrs and bye bye baby.
I think that 1.75v is highly dangerous for air/water on venice core.
Hmm your starting to scare me now :p, maybe its for the best though I probably should stick with a lower volt, does seem rather dangerous. Thanks for the warning though Lasac I appreciate it :)
if you can keep the temperature down....even 1.8v is doable.
Just keep it cool and you shouldnt have any problems, its a 3000+ anyway :fact:
If your full load temps didn't really go over 40ºc I think that you don't have problems, but be carefull by the way. ;)
I don't wanna scare you, but I don't wanna see you some days ago telling us that your cpu died or something else.
In my country there's really to hot so maybe you can really use it at 1.7v 24/7, just try to don't pass over 40ºc because venice don't like too high temps like winchesters.

I'm willing to give as much volts as it takes to get the most Mhz stable. There's no safe or unsafe for me. Fact is, I never had a CPU killed due to too much voltage..so let the pussies be pussies

Hi guys! My Venice 3200+ (LBBLE 0516GPDW) passes 27hrs and 35mins of Prime95 (Large FFTs) @2700Mhz 1,55V with temp between 45 and 48°C.
I'm trying now 275x10 with 1,6V and the temps don't go over 50°C (33°C in Room).
Do you think the temp is too high (i have a CooleMaster Hyper6)?
Is the v-core@1,6V (Air-Cooling) too high for a daily use?
Some guys (HardwareUprade forum) told me that i can't pass 1,55V for a daily use? Is it true?

This is the one and only Hardware Board and you shall not have any other boards before xs. 1.55v is perfectly safe!
I consider that 1,7v are safe to water and 1,6v - 1.65v is safe for air in 24/7.
They are acceptable values reason why I have seen before.

I see a lot of people using the voltage reported in cpu-z. Is this the voltage that we should be refering to. Currently I have mine at 1.65v but I know what ever it is set to in the bios is higher like 1.7 or more. Dfi is really quirky so you never know.
Some of the temps I've seen in this thread are too high for the heatsink being used. As a reference I built a system with an XP-120 on a venice at 1.56v @ 289x9 and didn't get temps much higher than 41c. This was with a panaflo medium speed fan. I love the XP-120 for air cooling it is a very good design especially when it is combined with a dfi 939 board.
I should add that I always sand down the bottom of any heatsink with a flat mirror up to a wet 2000 grit.
Hey guys, well when I run my chip at 3GHz I have my volts up to 1.76v in mbm but in the bios it reads 1.78v and my temps dont go over 42c on air.
1,78 is hard for 0.09 chips, think about the sudden death syndrom on p4. Why shouldn't something simmilar happen to our Athlons if we run such excessive voltage through it ?
Dude can we see prime 95 screen shots along with cpu-z. I believe you but damn 3 Ghz. Thats extremely kick azz on air. What do you get at 1.7v
How much did the bios help. I found that 1-25 was the best so far for me.

Ok, Now at 1.7V my temps are jumping between 49 & 50 degrees these are the maximum load temps and it is about 30 degrees in the apartment too so this is about the hottest it will ever get are these temps ok? 24/7 use remember?

I didn't like 5-10. How is 510-2Fixed bios different. Maybe I'll try it I'd like 338x8 I think I could get there I'm just not that familiar with all the wierd memory options.

To whoever said Venice runs cooler then Winchester. It's opposite. Venice consumes ~5W more at same clock, same volts.
1.7X+ on air is xtreme & suicide.
1.65 is safe on air for me.
I run 3.2v on the 5v rail. For some reason on my system it runs much better off the 5v instead of the 3.5v rail. Dont know why.. I have tested till I was blue in the face.. :eek: I am going to lower it a little more and burn it in. These CH-5 chips dont like more than 3.5v cuz they give tons of errors in memtest.Quote:
