Damn I am going on holiday and getting a FX-55 so my HW will be changed in about 2weeks.
But just for the record. With 9800LE I had best expirience with XP SP2 overall and 4.12's, deffenately the best combo for that card.
Saaya: YGPM.
Best 03 drivers for x800 series and XP?
getting around 6200 marks with my 9700 pro and my mxp setup think 7000 is a landmark
Heat wave is killing temps tho its 12 deg and its 12p.m here lol werid or what trying to get as far as possible before volt mods come out to play....
4.12's I would say. With my 9600PRO and 9800LE that was the best ones for both.Quote:

cats 5.6 without question. ;)Quote:

UGH, looks like a serious stability problem with the system. Try the last BIOS you were using first and see if it goes back to the way it was.
hmmm my system is rock solid like usual, just missing a video card, STILL :( It has been at FedEx all day!! NEVER DO 2DAY its worse then the cheaper shipping option
gonna try 5.5 First then move on to 5.6...Quote:

Whats best approved nvidia driver for 6800 in 03? Do I want win XP pro over win 2k?
I was REALLY hoping Pi would be first so I'd have time to finish phase for GPU...
i hate the 7800 coldbug, ever since i put water on it i ahve to wait for my compy to warm up for like 10 minutes before it un-vegetables lol
ok hate and 7800 are not to be used in the same sentance...If you don't like her I'll be happy to trade!
lol i don't hate the card! i love this card it's amazing, i'll prolly just update the bios soon anyways
o and does anyone know if the 80.40 drivers are futuremark approved?
Magni..... your score says it's not run with approved drivers. Don't we have to use FM approved drivers, I seem to remember seeing that somewhere???Quote:

yea kinda crappy
are 5.6's approved yet? Is there a list somewhere?
Aaaaaahhhh, my card is still in the mail! I really wanted to try out some VTT mods on this SLI-DR. Obviously I'm out if it's not here in 4 days.
Avoid the 5.6s for '01, 5.4s are good for that IIRC. I know 5.6s are some of the worst for it though.
yepp fm asked me to tell you guys to please only use approved drivers and in return they would support the grand prix and give us some prizes :)
so please only use approved drivers, if theres a driver thatsa isnt approved yetz and you want it approved let me know and i will ask futuremark to approve them asap if possible :)
and Magnj, chilled air? :D
but then again half of the people here on air are using air conditioning in their apartments/homes i guess... well, as i said we are gonna decide what categories we set up between this and next week :)
Got an improvment about 120 Points from 5.5 to 5.6!Quote:

yep latest catalyst drivers made me lose 30fps or so on nature :(
Anyone know what the Best OS/Driver combo for Tbred 1700/6600GT (AGP)
Got Win2k, Server 2K3 XP Home & XP Pro (Ok, all licensed for different machines, but I'll risk it for this compo :p: )
5.6's rock. Gained like 170fps..well i changed some other stuff but still...
Hmmm link works for me, even in the quote.Quote:

does anyone know if installing windows xp service pack 2 will change performance at all? cause i'm running sp1 and i just wondered if i should take the time to do that
I've not heard of any particular benefits to running xp2 over xp1 regarding benchmarking. Just make sure you have the latest directx.
thanks, i was hoping that as ive seen several computers get screwed up beyond recognition by sp2
Need best drivers/OS for 9800Xt please :)
I was thinking XP and 5.6's with the nice GART drivers etc from tictac but don't know if XP pro is the best for 2003.
Any hints?
Only problem I've ever had with SP2 was when trying to install it on a computer with an old video card. Other than that it works just fine. Can't see any difference in performance compared to SP1.Quote:

I had the same problem with a new bios aswell.. it was terribly undervolting my CPU i think.. flashe back to my 3/10 and voila.. 100% stable at the exact same settings now.... even overclocks further :stick:Quote:

Nice score bro... you do know you have to post that in the other thread to count right?Quote:

7200pts already puts me #1 on the orb for a R300 card using the latest version of 03 and FM approved drivers

Yeah, I was going to wait until I had my best score to submit it for the contest. I was just excited by breaking 14K on a single 6800GT :)Quote:

Post it up and edit it when you get a higher one... It adds to the excitement having targets to shoot for. I enjoy seeing what people are getting rather than people posting up at the last second in a sneak attack :p:Quote:

Nice to see there's others that will be running 9700s! Unfortunately i have lots of work and exams over the next few weeks... but clearly the xs.org grand prix is more important! I'll try my best to make time for one night of serious benching per week! :toast:

yeah but i think we'll be put in the same category - care to post a link so i can see what needs tweaking? ;) (mines in sig) so is there any news yet on what different categorys there will be?Quote:

Panic thats two dead cards in a week
Done! Hopefully tonight I will have some time to continue my overclock on the CPU. I just got the thing on Wed. last week but left for a trip on Thurs-Sun, so I need to get crackin. :DQuote:

wtf? what happens to them? did you try to mod the cooling and it screwed up or have you just had bad luck and gotten bad cards, i would be really pissed if that happened to me....Quote:

dunno, but looks like ill have to RMA to newegg for another one. Im really afraid it will die too because something in my system is killing it (like PSU) but I have no way to know, so kinda scared to try another.
Really feel for you peen i killed two cards in a week, stuck with my gf4 mxse i got for £12 (gonna volt mod that and fit a tec).
I might get the lowest 3dmark 03 ever.
What Power Supply and Motherboard do you have?Quote:

wow not alot of people. Who's playing with 800xl? I have a feeling charlie's gonna bust in here and kill me. Anyone try 5.7's yet?
I had an X800 XL that was able to beat charlies, I just didn't get a chance to run it in '03 because I needed to give it to someone who bought a X800 XL from newegg through me and the one from newegg came DOA. I needed to give them my really good X800 XL as a replacement.
I'm officially out too, the new X800 XL hasnn't come in from neweggs RMA yet.
has it been a week?
not yet, doesnt it finish on sunday?
Can I use any FM approved drivers or just the ones for my card? The ones for the FX series...are well...horrid. :(
jjcom
Stuck with the 9500pro now :(
When does this race end? Sunday evening/Monday?
:( Dang i think i'm outta the comp, my Ti4600 still ain't here, and my 9700pro is long gone... DAMN USPS!!!!1
any drivers you want as long as they are approved.Quote:

Heatwaves suck, I wish it was winter :)
has anyone thought of the categorys yet?
ARG!!!!!!
ok, about 3 weeks ago I got a new to me 9800pro, it had a few stability issues, but nothing too serious and there was still many things I could try to get it run smoothly. This aslo gave me a chance to Vmod the crap out to my 9600XT and hopefully have a great showing in the grand prix. on the third day (or so) of testing I got a BSOD with the error Driver_IRQ_not_less_or_equal. then my computer restarted. OK, go back to cat 4.12's or some other drivers and problem will be solved right? no, it's still there....hmmmm, Well I'll go back to my 9600XT and research the problem. WRONG same problem. ok on the secondary rig, research shows that it is a memory problem, memtest shows one bad stick, ok, RMA it and run on the good stick right? nope, still there, BIOS flash? still there, ok reformat is needed. oh, yeah, WinXP/2k ISO's are on that computer and it's not stable enough to get them off. OK, so I got a buddy to send me his copy, but it won't be here till monday. And to top it all off, I swaped back to my 9600XT last night in the hopes that I could get one run off ans send it in to stay in the competition. well I broke off a cap off the 9800pro in the process and now 3d looks a kelidascope(sp) and the 9600XT randomly died (the cap nearest to the VGA output heats up to about 10,000 degrees and smells like burning).
so unless I can swap my entry to a 1.3 ghz celeron/512mb PC100/9600se I am out until further notice.
p.s. I am sad :(
ARG!!!!!!!!!! indeed.....
went to reinstall my XP, all of a sudden I can't select any partitions in the installer, I can't boot into windows no more, my old install btw (I just put in my XP CD and rebooted to start installing)
I can't do doodly squad!
Seatools running now still needs an hour to complete. My HDD is recognized by seatools as one with a 80GB partition and a 900GB partition.... File system is all :banana::banana::banana:ed up, ......
no probs with mem or IDE controller nothing........
Goddammit. Why now, I REALLY AM P I S S E D AT THE MOMENT!!!!!!! :slapass: :slapass:
setting up my fig for a final assault now using 5.7 cats for the hell of it (core screwed anyway) WERE IS MY RMA ARGH.
PLZ DO A CPU TEST NEXT. I,M OUTTA GPU'S
Same here, I just thought it was because I'm using a FX series card...interesting.

I'm having problems with 3Dmark03 recognizing my cpu speed. Anytime I get over 320fsb it reports the cpu speed wrong. The bench runs fine and I get a score and publish it, but it shows my speed as a lot slower than it is, the faster I run it the worse it is. At 320X14 is shows the correct speed, at 325X14 it shows around 3.2ghz, and at 330X14 is shows 1.5ghz  Is anyone else having a problem like this, or can anyone help me figure it out???
Could some of us be permitted to supply our stats today? Just got my comp up and running again. DX 9.0C is being installed as we speak annd next up is 3Dmark 03.
I can supply the scores in an hour. It'll be an untweaked run but at least I'll still be in the race :s
Considering I am not ready to start the next event and you are not alone we will allow for one more day of entries.
Are you guys ok with a late entry from shinymod? He was having PC problems entering in time but he submitted a score.
late entries are ok for me as:
1) I have problems myself
2) as long as it isn't like a week overtime.... who cores :)
the grandprix is just for fun and I'd hate to have to drop out just because of a stupid disk failure :p:
Thanks fugger!!!!!!!!!
score commming up for me....
I am going to change my entry slightly. I am going to run in the single card class instead of the sli class since the sli 7800s are still buggy and you cant even post a score over 30k yet on the orb.
Pics to come real soon, just have to upload them from camera
Gryph
late entrys are fine by me toooo.
Of course late entries should be accepted...it'll just allow me to get closer to 20k single card air cooling. :D
@ the moment I'm top of the bill for AXP :D
show me that hardware please :p:
First time I'd ever win something if I can keep this up. Today I noticed my card IS a decent clocker ont he GPU if teamed up with my Room fan :slobber: :D
Could it be the soft mod or possibly the time you got the drivers. I recently grabbed the 77.72 when they first were released but weren't WHQL yet. Each time I installed from that file I got the non whql message. Downloaded a newer copy and all is well with those.Quote:
