Soon you will be able to enable 64 bits for any Sempron just in double click using CBId tool =)
Well seeing whom it's coming from i'de say it's no joke :toast:Quote:

hows that useful? obviously you'd have to boot to a 32bit OS thus making 64-bit useless anyway?!Quote:

or make a program that loads before windows which will switch it on, same way the KTxxx PCI latency patch worked I believe.
yeah can you please give more information.
Exactly!Quote:

any asm code for that patch... would be nice if you can patch it on bios level :yepp:
It's not a joke, of course! The final version of CBId 7.5.0.7 is ready, but its time hasn’t come yet. Anyhow, it will be the real sensation! I promise!
Goddamnit, you give us that tool right now! :D
Don't make us wait, or do we need to beg? I will you know :p
What about multiplier ? :p:
only 2600 and 2800 are locked down-ward
goddamn it! GIVE IT TO ME NOW!!! and very many thanks for making that, I thought the sempr0ns 64bit instructions were hardware disabled. must piss of AMD haha well thanks anyway both of you :DQuote:

SOURCES CLAIMED AMD is close to releasing a whole set of cut down Sempron microprocessors which will include iAMD 64 bit support.
That could be as early as the middle of July, according to people close to AMD's plans in Taiwan.
The E6 stepping will use socket 754 and if you want to you'll be able to overclock them to your heart's desire.
The same sources claim the 64-bit Sempr0ns will be released at 2600+, 2800+, 3000+, 3100+ and 3300+ numbers.
Of these the last three will have AMD's Cool and Quiet technology. Nothing more than a simple BIOS update will be needed, it appears.
-----------------------------
And here is a link to a picture of the Socket 754 Sempron 3300+ running Windows, note: 2GHz clock, 128K L2, 90nm. And this was an E3 Sempron 3300+ purchased from Newegg! (code "BO", vs. the Rev D "BA"). So they've turned it on early in some E3 parts...

I wonder what they meant by "you'll able to overclock them to your heart's desire."...
unlocked multipliers... :)
AMD said they were going to offically "support" overclocking. So, who knows...we can hope.

Interesting news about enabling 64 bits on sempr0ns :)
On June 27 only! :)Quote:

If they put Sempron on 939, there would not be enough distinction, especially with overclocking.
well as long as the name sempron is asociated with budget why would it matter if it was 939 or 745? it would be better for amd to have it 939 cause then they can up the rp rating on them wihtout actually increasing the speed. i dont see why amd would try to keep an old socket around, it just doesnt make any sense. amd is even moving some opteron's to socket 939 so its not like they are trying to keep each line of processors to its one socket.
I think it is available nowQuote:

That software would be awesome if you could unburn fuses... *smacks forehead*
I wonder how it'll be till vendors have them.Quote:

No, they are S754 only.Quote:

Moving 1xx Opteron to 939 is in fact related. Uniprocessor servers and workstations need to be cheaper, and 939 infrastructure is much cheaper than the 940 stuff.
Now, with Socket M2, next year, both Sempron (Manila) and A64 (Orleans) will be using it along with 1xx Opterons, (A64 starting in Q2) so they've obviously cooked up enough differentiation elsewhere by that point.

yeah, but someone who knows abit about computers will know to look at a review of the processor. AMD's chips do take a hit from less cache, but not a huge hit. So single channel, less cache, and less clock speed works well to keep the processors seperate.
jjcom
overclocked half the cache wont matter much but we have to realize overclockers are only a small amount of people. at stock there will enough of a difference that someone building a gaming computer will want a venice instead. you really cant look at this with the point of view of an overclocker saying oh ya half the cache dont matter at 2.8 itll more than make up for it.Quote:

Frankly speaking, I dont know. Maybe I will wrote a small patch which can be loaded via AUTOEXEC.NT :confused:Quote:

I believe AMD is doing this so they can have the advantage that they were first to the market.
To be honest, the best solution for this would be the BIOS, share the info with people who make moded BIOSes, this way you can enable the x86-64 extention w/o the need of an OS or anything.Quote:

Anyway, you can disable mmx and others, and they go disabled.
Doesnt work :(
He..he..you can try with AthlonXP and they work?, i can enable everything,Quote:

Not working for me either.
Hmm--
--Anyway, these s754 64-bit semprons look promising. Maybe I will buy one as a spare proccy/OC with it.
Wonder if the tool will only work on more recent Semprons?
jjcom
I tried 64 bit extension on my 2600+ s754 sempy, and no success.Quote:

i thought the semprons were going to be released today... i cant find them anywhere.
so, generaly this is a big dissapointment? :(
You mean CBiD ? Not at all.Quote:
