[Team MXS] 9600 Series 0wned - WR in all 3DMarks

Finally got #1 in all 3DMarks at last weekend with Saphire 9600XT under cold water from waterpipes :banana:

3DM01: 20210 3D Marks http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8620818

3DM05: 2661 3D Marks http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=4055309

Got great performance increase in 3DM05 with new 5.6 driver (about +100 points), but for 3DM01 5.3 faster than 5.6. I tried DX8.1b+4.12 but got less than with DX9.0c+5.3.

why are you running the ram at 217mhz but with insane timings, wouldnt 272 2-2-2-5 (ie using the 183 divider) give better results?

nice score but you could do better, I beat you in every test even car high on my 2.6GHz winny. You really need some tccd ram=big boost!

Because my BH-5 runs @ 2.8V not more than 217MHz with any timings (2.0/2.5-x-x-x). 2.8V is max vmem on not vmoded Epox 9NDA3J and I can't do vmods on not my own hardware.

Yes, tccd is better than bh-5 with only 2.8V and if such ram will be available for me - may be I'll test this 9600XT again.

Unless you beat S_A_V in every test with a 9600 that is irrelevant.

Also, Geforce, why do you say this everytime someone posts a score with a different (weaker) card than a 9500np->9700 (presumably the score you keep talking about).
Well I've got news for you....I completley 'pwned' your best GF4mx score with a 6600GT. Does that mean anything?

I just replaced default Saphire 9600XT timings to timings from HY5DU283222AF-28 memory datasheet (RFC=17, RAS=10, RCDRD=5, RCDWR=2, RP=5).

try the GC-25 setting. same chip, binned higher, looser timeings, rated to 400mhz.

have you tried the latest drivers?
here's my 1st test with 9600xt - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1261394
03 was ~5400 with the same clocks and the same driver.
considering it's an old win (since dec 2004 :)) and been through a few mobo changes and a p4->dothan conversion, i think it's a good score..
and i suspect the new drivers gave nice boost.

saw you had pretty low vgpu - i bet you're also suffering from vddq drop when too high vgpu?

also one reason those aren't visible on the ORB those drivers arent futuremark approved..

Latest drivers that I tried is 5.8. It's fast drivers, but I got better result at 5.7 (Omega drivers v2.6.53) in '05. Don't know about 5.9. For '01 and '03 - 5.3 still best drivers for me.

I tried rise vgpu up to 1.65V and can run gpu at 710MHz, but even when I set vgpu higher then 1.55-1.57 I got BIG lost of memory overclock. So I can get clocks like 710/350@1.65V-Vgpu or 690/410@1.57V-Vgpu and I choose 690/410. Vddq not drops, but it rise both with Vref (Saphire non-BBA have one voltage regulator on PCB for both voltages - ISL6522) and when Vref > 1.45V I have big artifacts both in 2D and 3D mode.

Congrats caater, amazing 3DM01 score!

I tried catalyst 5.10 in '05 and find it much faster than 5.7/5.8 (just got ~2704 with stock aircooled video 675/793 A64@2700 and mem@180) , so may be I try it with cold water soon :)

i suspect that 05 is easiest score to overtake, 03 also because of relatively low cpu clock of mine :-P
i did just quick 05 run with 725/414 yesterday, but it crashed in GT3, wasn't too motivated to try it again as i realized that 3k was anyway no go with these drivers.
i removed all mods from my card and i'm gonna install a simple passive cooler on it, so gl for 3k :)

Done at abit av8 (k8t800pro) mobo that can't stable in 3d after 273MHz FSB with this card, so 2730MHz@cpu max with this combo ("k8t800pro+9600XT"), but I rise all voltages on 9600XT higher than I can do with "nforce3+9600XT" combo.

dunno.. i'm under impression that even with 9600xt, 2001 is heavily handicapped by gpu.. i forgot to test 01 with the same drivers and dif cpu speeds..
but a lil more clocks and you'd be hitting gabbax's DI 9600 oc numbers :)
