Hehe so FEDEX tracking has my X2 4200 scheduled for delivery by 3:30 on Tuesday. I'm not planning on going crazy with it right away, but I do like to feel out the limits of new hardware when I get it. ;)
Long term I'd love to get a free speed grade out of it. Based on Venice OCing, what do you guys think of the X2 core potential????

Wow, one left looks like and a new one showed up as an auction (my purchase was buy it now).
There was a different store selling 2 of each 4800, 4600, 4400, 4200 - but they were asking well over $1200 for the 4800s and not much better for the rest.
Is e-availability that bad? I really didn't take a look around the sites, but I was planning on buying a Venice 3800 when lo and behold......X2!

monarch emailed me the other day about pre orders. they will be shipping on or a little before 6/16. slight price gouging. the 4400+ 2mb l2 looks like the best buy at around $50 more than the 4200+ 1mb l2. was going to order mine now, but i pre ordered a venice and after getting it wished i had waited. winchester/venice = no difference except lower temps, slightly less bandwidth. x2 will def be better performance but i will wait for gouging to end and also see which are best steppings.

I too will be using a SN25P to overclock my 4400+, I've got 2GB of OCZ Platinum PC3200 and will be picking up a 7800 card when they are released....hopefully this system refresh will keep me going strong until this time next year!

I think I got lucky. The 4400+ are sold out at Komplett. I got a reply from them today morning when i re-ordered saying they've allocated one for me, there were only 3 left then and they've all been pre-ordered now. Looks like a lot of people are betting on the 4400+ to be the best bet in terms of performace/price.Quote:

Sounds to me like "unconfirmed" is just a delay get out clause.. people don't like to preorder but effectively what your doing is just as bad - ordering without an ETA.. having said that ETA is "expected" and just as bad..

I did experiment with my x2 and my gskill FF's @ cl2. I had a helluva time finding stable timings with low latencies. It partly was due to the fact that I rarely run my FF's @ cl2, but the x2 seemed to respond better to more relaxed timings. With the mem. I can still run the CPU higher with a divider. My #'s are practically the same with/without using a divider. It might actually get close to 250Mhz with like 3-4-4-8. UK people who have ordered an X2 from komplett - have you had an email to say it has been reserved for you? I ordered a X2 4400+ from them on the 12th June, it says confirmed in 'my account' on their site but I haven't received an email saying for def.
I have an OcUK confirmation of the order but as per normal (which does not indicate a reservation of stock) I'm assuming I'll just get the second which will be shipping email when it's sent.Quote:

7) Gaming didn't degrae much at all (other than that 200mhz lost...) in fact with higher multi available than my previous chip, I got a little more bandwidth out of my memory (10mhz) and nothing noticebly bad in gaming aspect so far. I've always had issues when e-mail came in middle of CS:S where it freezes for a second and problem still persist... I think it is more issue of network than CPU utilization now.
Yes my chip defaults to 1.3V (1.26V Actual) as well, with my DFI LP UT.
Putting a fan over the PWM area stabilized my overclock greatly.
I think OPB mentioned this as well; he was noticing higher than usual evaporator temps once he took the Vcore over 1.5v.
CPC defaults to 2T with 4 sticks of memory, nothing you can do about it :(

Yup, that is a good tool for stability. I'd still like one SuperPI to run multithreaded so that I can compare the results with singlethreaded scores. That would give me better idea about the performance gain. Sandra's synthetic bench is quite useless (exaggerated).Quote:
