Looks good Charlie. Did you at first have the zalman 7000cu on? And if so, how much of a temp. drop did you see going to 7700cu?
I was able to run some TCCD ram at 280mhz 2.5-3-3-7 on my 730 setup,....but had to use a 9x multiplier :rolleyes: ......

i still am using my aopen 855gme board w/ dothan 400fsb part and my everyday setup gets me 29sec superPi@ 135 fsb@ 2.7gz. I'm more than happy with it. :)

How about watercooling? Is there a block in the market that fits in?
Here are a couple of pics of a XP90C mounted on a CT479. I bent the holding arms with my hands and then attached the hsf. I did some measuring and calculating before I installed it. I was being careful of the core. I also took the shim off of the original hsf and put it on the processor. This is a 740 on P4C800E DLX.
My temps aren't near as good as Charlies. I'm idling at 50c @1.55v :slap:
Watch your contact...with these improvised cooling solutions, it's a real hit or miss thing. These CPU's run REALLY cool. Any word on the 1.55v++ issues?Quote:

sorry, no my prescott does idle around 38c and loaded 45c-48c depending on the barometric pressure. I used to get those kind of temps when it was winter and my temp in my room was only 60f but now that summer has rolled around and the heat has started my temps are getting out of hand.Quote:

I did try vcore up to 1.7v + with these mods. I will try higher with better cooling.
The vid pin wire mod is a breeze.. The vcore #8 pin mod is a bit tougher. The tiny legs on that chip are close together. It might be easier for you to solder onto the resistor. I did include pics in my post above. ;)
Could you tell me the difference betwen vid and vcore mod?? :slap: What are the improvements to be awaited??

A little update, I got the Vcore mod working, which is good.
OTOH, when I was doing the Vcore mod, I had the hs/f sitting on the table... when I was finished soldering, I just reassembled everything without cleaning and reapplying TIM. Well I tore it down later because I was getting bad temps, and I had 2 small chips on the FACE of the core... probably from a couple specs of dust!
It still works fine, so I don't think it damaged anything, but it just reminds me how FRAGILE these things are when you're trying to get a good contact! Oh and BTW, also found out that when you install Dothan + Zalman 7700Cu in a CASE, the weight of the HS/F pulls the base offf the core slightly, and there go your temps. It's because the Zalman uses only 2 anchoring points across the very small width of that core....
We need some good shims, or a real IHS...
Anyone have an old P4 IHS to try and see if it fits??

I noticed that you aren't going down below 11 multi (which would make you run the RAM asynch, lower than the FSB, right). Do you have stability issues when you try this? I am totally unstable when I do it, so I can't use 10-8 multis. Aren't some guys making this work?
So I think on stock Vapo, 3000 @ 11X is about max for me.
Will also be interested in your extra volts (>1.6v) results under phase. Can't get to it right now, but if it works for you, I'll do it when I plug in the cascade to the CPU...

Im not quite sure about that mobo, but P4C800-E Deluxe don't like UTT/BH5 chips at all. TCCD should run nicely, though i haven't try, just heard. You should check that dothan sticky thread. Or both of them. There u should find out how to work with that mobo... But biost update is needed for sure.

Guys i know this is a pretty old thread. But im looking to mount of previously used p4 zalman 7700cu onto my dothan on the p4c800 e-deluxe using the ct479 adapter. Do i need shims to mount the zalman cooler? Im still not very sure about how to mount this thing safey. If anyone cares to provide some instructions it would be greatly appreciated.
What I would do is just remove the rubber shim from the stock CT479 heatsink and place it around the CPU. As for mounting the 7700Cu, just inverse the mounting bars without using any screws or anything. Works great.
Are the shims required though? Can I mount the zalman safely without the shims?
Also regarding the screws, what do you mean not using any screws? How does the 7700cu stay on without them?
