Yep..... you lose the soundstorm audio though. it is really designed for the 8RDA... not the plus. I installed it, I still have sound, just can initialize the fancy doodads... I dont use them anyway........... heheh. It doesn't say synch anymore for the memory, you have to set it at 100% now........ n00b alert.. heheh
Cool......now, do these higher FSB options work? :)
Yep.. but having a tough time raising them for some reason....... get's unstable. Going to continue fuggin with it......
215 works ok..... going up............:D
http://home.attbi.com/~gpl08/216fsb_8rda.jpg
Cool. I think i'm gonna give this bios a try. If it means I will lose soundstorm then who cares for the minute, I just wanna see if it helps with my current overclocking woes.
220............
http://home.attbi.com/~gpl08/220fsb_8rda.jpg
Looking good there muzz :)
I wonder if 3DMark will bench at 220+ :p
see below
:slobber:
Gave up the ghost running 3dmark at that speed though... looks like I'm going to have to relax the timings a little.........:(
But I see a new AMD pifast #1 coming from Galifrey and his prommie..........:D
Maybe a little more vcore instead........:D
I think that was only 1.85 ......... 1.9 at the most.
Holy shat... umm I think I'm gonna sell my Asus NF2 and buy that!
Wow muzz......EPoX BIOS engineers making this thing more and more tempting...give me 3.2vmem and I might pick one up to play with :D
This one is 2-2-4-2 @225
http://home.attbi.com/~gpl08/225fsb_2-2-4-2_timings.jpg
I did make 1 run only - 3dmark( at these timings - not 100% stable I'm afraid. ) , lots of work to do still.
Still working on v adjustments for heavy benching, but heres a nice shot.. 230fsb @2-2-4-2 timings
http://home.attbi.com/~gpl08/230fsb_2-2-4-2_timings.jpg
wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh wanna such an sweet nf2 board (abit nf7-s r0000000lz ) =D
*sound of jaw hitting floor*
Me want! Must have! *drool*
Wonder how the Abit will do?
I know I have to really get it benchworthy, but these are nice........
232fsb 2-2-4-2 timings.
http://home.attbi.com/~gpl08/232fsb_2-2-4-2_timings.jpg
muzz,
Very nice, very nice :)
Gives up the ghost FOR ME after 235 synched memory. I dropped multi back easily far enough too. Asynch will go higher prolly.
Make a 3DMark run @ 235, muzz :p
Just got my other stick, and with my 8500 it wont be impressive. I did 1 @ 220 those timings @ stock rad speeds and it was like 10460... but I couldnt publish it for some reason.... that never happened to me b4. I am going to try 232 in 3dmark..... be back in awhile.
jesus, 233?
man, I was super happy when I reached 224, I can't believe you can get that high. thats cool...
:slobber: :slobber: :slobber: :slobber:
2....3....3....!!!
What memory are you using?
Excellent.....can't wait to see a published score.....I dun care w/ what card :D
This 8RDA+ is pretty sweet :)Quote:

Too bad my Corsair XMS3500C2 can´t handle even rated speed on 8RDA+.
I am going to get it RMA´d.
Anyway, when I run mem async the 8RDA+ shows it´s potential.
Nice Kent! :toast:Quote:

Would you recommend the 8RDA+ before the A7N8X?
UNF!? Hahha that is awesome! Please if you can, pcmark2002 mem bench!
muzz and caper,
Some benches there!
What videocard are you using? Not a 9700 or?
Also, is that with dual ddr or a single stick?
Since I haven´t tried A7N8X I can´t recommend you to buy the 8RDA+.Quote:

But have a feeling that if you want to OC, EPoX is the way to go.
Since I have to run my crappy XMS3500C2 asynced at those high bus mem bench wouldn´t be interesting.Quote:

But Muzz seems to have better memory, I bet he can do it for ya :)
I am going to RMA my stick.
I will put up some benches later when i got a decent gfx and decent memory.Quote:

For the moment I am using a GF GTS :slobber:
One 512 Mb stick XMS3500C2 wich I am going to RMA.
Doesn´t run advertised speed.
Wow I kept fuggin with the bios, kept getting kicked......... BLAMMMMMMMO!!! fookin memory errors fooked me up bad. Had to setup another user. I did get my best score yet copied b4 it got unstable... granted it is not stable here, but wtf... may as well show what it might be able to do with some more work..... a prommie would sure help!!!
http://home.attbi.com/~gpl08/2_Stick...-2_timings.jpg
I almost crapped myself. I mean I know it ain't intel, and it's not real stable here, but it was sweet to see nonetheless......:D
Now have to get it stable fellas cya in a few.
Thats 2 sticks @230 2-4-2-2
XMS3500c2 (2x 256)
muzz,
thats frickn awesome. Looks like I am out to buy me one of these babies.
Can you get the FSB higher with the mem async. Something like FSB=250 MHz, two sticks of mem at 80% (200 MHz). Would be really interested in the bandwidth benchies in this config.
I have epox 8rda+ and raddy 8500 too and can't publish my new scores :( I'm guessing it's TRAS set to 4 instead of 5 locking 3dmark... I'll try!Quote:

How did you flash this bios. I tried flashing it and said something about wrong part number. It did not work. I have the 8RDA+.
us amders are in desperate need of some DDR 500 right about now !!!! :)
atleast real ddr 466.... comon corsair! (i dont count anythin ocz makes as real ram)
i am gonna get some 466 when it comes out and use it on this board hopefully it will be able to do 250 fsb!
Well I have the basics loaded........ I used winflash from the cd to flash it.
I didn't have any luck with 2 sticks over 230 that time, with 1 stick I did 235 @ those timings, but Sandra actually went DOWN............ I tried a couple times same thing, then did the 232, then tried 235 again... less than 232 @ the same timings........mustve been maxed out at those timings/speed. Gonna keep working it . I never did a fresh install when I installed this board ( from a KT266a) feels better....... as only a fresh install will... ... I've always liked FRESH.........:D :p
The CD that comes with the noard has a program called Winflash. Do you flash the bios from within windows? or do you boot from a CD? I normally boot to DOS and from the a: drive type awdflash.exe ********.bin and it works. I was able to flash 8rda2c03.bin this way. Not this one though.....

To take full advantage of DCDDR mode, what slots should the RAM be in? 1-2, 2-3, or 1-3?
Yeah, WinFlash is used within Windows.Quote:

1-3.
btw, where are compare links?:D
very impressive.
this board looks like a good home for my xp1800 Tbred. ;)
What is the Vmem max for this board?
Well until you or DD design a mod... it's limited to 2.9 and I used it the whole time. Need more!!!:D
Ok, sounds like a deal.:) I am waiting for Newegg to replenish their stock.
Here is an interesting tidbit about flashing this board posted over in amdmb.com
Quote:
"Nvidia BIOS flash problems.
Dear All:
Our Nvidia based motherboards use a different style of BIOS chips than our other products. To successfully flash the BIOS you will need AWDFLASH.EXE v8.22a or newer. Older flash tools will corrupt the BIOS and leave the board dead. Please ensure to only download BIOS updates for our boards from an official EPoX website. Please note BIOS update files are not interchangeable between the EP-8RDA and EP-8RDA+.
Dunno whats up with that Ace..... I've flashed twice with Winflash ( comes on the cd ), without a problem. Seems like some folks have problems though.
I would say you were one of the lucky ones. I know TechTones got burned with his using Winflash. So, be cautious.
I cant speak for anyone else, but I go with stock speeds, and nothing running.
You mean doing the flash from within Windows? Always a good idea!:)
Well I guess I should post this here............ I did one 59.33 , but I cant seem to find the screenshot grrrrrrrr.... I won't update until I find it. So far this is my best.......... I need a new better cooling to run higher vcore.........
Not bad, but not where it could be with better cooling.............
http://home.attbi.com/~gpl08/2415_mh...-2_timings.jpg
I thought the 48.xx was the time everyone was interested in???
Dunno bout that bro..... heheheh
Well I ran it again........

My personal best so far. finally broke 59... woooooohooooooo
223x11 2453 , 2-2-5-2 timings.
That's the 3rd fastest Pifast for AMDs and 9th best overall ahead of a 3.58ghz P4 :) What speed was that at and timings? My guess is with a faster clock speed you could easily be #1 AMD, as the other two are only @ 211FSB.
Bushboy

The speed and timings are underneath the pic. And of course it's faster than a 3.58 P$ ( ooooops I meant 4 ... heheh ), If AMD could ramp up a little faster I believe they would take the crown np....... just getting the chips made and out to the public.
does this bios unlock the multipliers on the mobo?
Well the board will unlock certain multis according to your default multi on the chip. like 5-12.5 , or 13 up. Not both as far as I know. There is a thread on here about the whole issue.
Sorry I skipped right over the picture :p Well you're about 200mhz and 300mhz below the other two AMD scores and right up there. Is there no way to get a higher clock speed, that ought to do it for you.Quote:

This 8RDA+ has been great so far, just been a little disappointed that the Vmem only goes to 2.9v and th emod for it is like the mod for the BD7II. Apart from that and the multi unlocks, it's wonderful.
If you can slap a close up pic of the surrounding memory area, we can try some hit & miss troubleshooting technique to see if we can find that IC.
First, get your DVM lead on those Mosfet legs surrounding the dimm area to see which one is delivering the actual Vmem. The IC should then be in the general area of that Mosfet. If you can read the name on the IC, we can hunt for the PDF data file.
My camera is currently with another member of these boards unfortunately unless I would have huge pics up now to find the right IC. However I will use my multimeter to check the mosfets...It's usually the middle pin on them right, and then a ground?Quote:

I did ask DDTung about this and he replied -
"REfer to the BD7II Vmem mod. This board uses a similar Winbond chip(with 4 extra pins) but the Vmod is still using the STR1sense pin."
Now I'm not too familiar with that, perhaps someone else is? Either way it sounds difficult like the BD7II mod.
I've always found one of the 2 outer legs will give you the actual Vmem reading. Try all legs to see what readings you get.
Ace I have my waterpump and shi* in there, hard for me to move around much never mind take a few real good pics....... maybe someone else will though...................:D :D
Cmon guys someone????????????? Fookin nightmare in my rig.
Been trying some more stuff here and got my best Sandra mem so far pretty niice for an amd system:

I cant seem to publish sh*t on the onion... twice now I've tried. wtf is up with that guys.. anyone here ever have that happen?
