2. changed bios from 310 official to 414-3 beta bios allowed me to use Bank Interleave Enabled :cool:
3. changed psu from 580W Topower 686P6 to 650 Silverstone PCI-E SLI psu
4. change Forceware drivers from 76.10 to 71.89WHL
5. change everest home from 2.00.292 beta to 2.00.323 beta

Yep that is a Newegg typo; I bought a set from them a few days ago, and it says 2-2-2-5 on the heatspreaders :)

PC4000VX is guaranteed for 250, PC3200VX is only guaranteed to 200 2-2-2 but many do 230-240. PC3200 Gold BH die is only guaranteed 200 2-2-2 2.8V and only warranted to 3.0V :eek: ;)
Value VX is guaranteed 200 2.5-4-4-8 2.6V..if they run there no RMA.

I just threw my modulesin and im burning them in. So far, just at 220 mhz with your timings, im only off by 100 pts on 3DMark05 from my TCCD modules i was using that were at 275 mhz. The lower latencies make a huge difference. Will be cranking it up later today.

Eva, quick question; Would the A64 tweaker settings you used for that ram be a good starting point for my classic BH-5? Just asking cuz my Venice arrives tomorrow and I'm going to be setting my new AMD rig so I was kinda curious.

Or if you could point me to some baseline settings that work with BH-5 then that would be great.

Hmmm...I've been wondering...the new Bh-5 sticks need 3.6v for 260...whereas the VX needs only like 3.4v on avg for 260...opp got 265+ with 3.6v .

So VX > Gold BH-5 then ??? cos 260 @ 3.6v is really no big deal afaik...yes dual channel 1gig, but so is VX... :confused:

Either way though, they are very good performing modules, will probably run tighter timings than CH-UTT (Trfc ;)), they are at a great price point, and best of all (for me at least) they still come with OCZ's damn good customer support backing.

Im stuck at 2,2,2,7 @ 240 with 3.1v. I get tons of errors if i run more volts through them in memtest. How long does burn in take eva?

averages mate, averages, averages of new BH-5 seem slightly higher than VX when you take into account average vdimm used and remember this is untested bh-5 versus binned GoldVX

personally i like OCZ PC3200 Gold more than my OCZ PC3200 GoldVX as it's 260mhz 2-2-2-5 vs 240mhz 2-2-2-5 respectively for me. But still my OCZ PC3500 Plat LE BH-5 DO 266mhz 2-2-2-6 at 3.6v

as to A64tweaker settings it all depends on cpu/board/bios, as you can see the differences i had from part 1 vs part 2 of my testing on this ram with different cpu/bios etc

Rabbi, these modules are US$173 at newegg cheaper in USA heh

as to burn in i haven't burnt this ram in yet properly, but normally takes 8hrs to start seeing less errors in memtest per pass and 12-24hrs usually.

I have OPB's 4000+ san diego coming soon so will retest the ram at 11x260 or maybe 12x260 :D

Well I imagine its dependent on the mem controller as well....Though the thing is lol you seem to be the only one thoroughly endorsing it...like for example, when 3200 came out, lol OPP himself got excited...and I've seen higher than 260 on VX more often than on this new bh-5 ...heck this is the ONLY thread with Gold BH-5 results, and there arent that many. Which isnt a surprise considering they are EVP protected to a meagre 3.0v by OCZ whereas the VX are protected till 3.5v !!!

I have no problem believing you on your results eva ;) ...but I'm quite sure VX doesnt require ~3.7v to hit 265 at 2-2-2...And yeah I'm talking about 3200 VX...

I just going by my own experiences with both PC3200 Gold and GoldVX :) OCZ themselves has said PC3200 GoldVX expect around 240mhz.. yeah but lack of PC3200 Gold results except with other users in this thread..

Plus Australia doesn't get many different brands of ram to choose from. Here PC3200 GoldVX costs AUD$379-389 and PC4000 GoldVX costs AUD$419-439 vs Gold PC3200 BH-5 AUD$315-319

I would be interested to see some more 3200 gold results myself. After the VX price drop, the difference in price between 3200vx and 3200 gold is only $32 Canadian.

My goal is 260 @ 2-2-2, which has a better chance of reaching this with an average pair?

I understand what you're saying there...its the cheapest good ram ever here in Canada @ $220 for 1GB kit...which is amazing...but unless you're eva 2000 ;), its really hard to convince yourself that A. You wont burn it with high voltages or B. You WILL get results over 260...

Though, are you sure 3200 VX doesnt do 260+ on avg ????...I mean 4000VX isnt using any different chips...

The PC4000 GoldVX are much better than PC3200 GoldVX usually talking less vdimm to do same clocks but even than 265mhz ain't the average for PC4000 GoldVX, more like 255-260mhz.

Don't confuse semi-stable or 3d benchable screenie shots of ram at 265-266mhz as fully stable :)

yeah if warranty is of higher priority than results then PC4000 GoldVX would be the choice... but best to try both

of course the rare best pair of PC4000 GoldVX will do higher than best PC3200 Gold BH-5

Heh yeah the problem with 4000VX is there was no price drop and its $100 more than 3200vx. If I was going to spend that kinda money on more RAM I would just get a set of OCZpc5000DFI or Gskill 4400LE and would have an option of running 4x512 in the future.

However, I am too greedy to pay $400 for memory now, I paid that for my 3200EL Rev 2 and it has dropped like $100 already =/

I am looking for a 2x512 that will do 260 for $250 or less. Too bad it's impossible to get TWINMOS around here and I already had bad experiences with Mush Blue.

OT - Perk I know what you mean, I am from NS so I am loving 10% less tax here :) Helps that one of the best computer stores in Canada is in town too so I don't have to pay shipping.

Ok here is my take on the gold3200 Vs VX debate.

The gold 3200 is a BH die, it does 2-2-2 at lower voltage than the VX at 200fsb, infact some modules do 2-2-2 at 2.6V easy but we spec 2.8.

The VX is a pure enthusiast part, we gave the option for value VX so that you could take your own chances with overclocking but the price is real cheap. The 3200VX is tested 200 2-2-2 and we make sure of some headroom, the 4000VX is a ddr500 part 2-2-2 and the warranty reflects this.

So...we had some changes to the gold definition, gold is gamers, good performance and good price, issue is some is as good as the platinum but thats just OCZ being generous as usual ;)

Now I know VX is fast..but the 3200Gold can be too...it all depends on how much and how far you push ;)

Did you have to have Trc & Trfc that loose?
Usually BH dies do Trfc a fair bit tighter than CH dies thats all

i could tighten them but that usually means more vdimm than what i used above .. i could do superpi 1M to 8M at trc 7 and trfc of 15 but superpi 16M and 32M needs to loosen when only 3.64v vdimm is used.

Been playing with my new set of PC3200 GOLD after the first set turned out to be faulty...

I noticed that with any of my Winchesters I could only get 220 max, no matter what volts were applied...

My 3500+ Winchester was less than 220 & my CAA2C 3500+ would not like these PC3200 GOLD...

Just got a 3200+ Venice earlier this week & the results amaze me...

With just a different CPU I can get more MHz from less voltages...

Been up to 240HTT 1:1 now with the settings in my sig... I tried last night to take it further but it seems my set is just average... It won't reach 245 even with more volts... Errors pop up rapidly in Memtest...

Funny thing is: I sold my 2x512MB XMS3500 for AUD$330 & bought some VX4000 (faulty) for $420 & ended up getting my money back & getting these PC3200 GOLD for $320... Big merry go round... I only sold my XMS3500 because it didn't like my K8N neo2 board... Maybe I should've kept the XMS for the DFI...

Either way, I ended up getting back my best results with the PC3200 GOLD as I got with my XMS3500...

I am using the vdimm jumper trick and tweaking the PS pots for volts from 3.3v rail. I am using a multimeter and find the voltage is very stable and the BIOS is almost perfect in measuring the volts on the 3.3. After 1 night of testing I have 240Mhz @ 3.4v stable so far. I am letting it burn in all day and will prolly have the RAMs limit tonight. I haven't tried any dividers yet, you didn’t have problems with dividers and stability? I know with my Value VX the stuff won't run a divider at all, no matter what the BIOS :(

My results are notthing extraordinary, but I think they are pretty good for only 3.0V. I am going to push higher, hopefully they will scale well with voltage.

I have tried 240 with up to 3.2V (using 3.3V line and no tricks), but it can't do it. The 3.3V line is just not enough, doesn't deliver good voltage. I have had this happen to me before with CH-5/UTT sticks, couldn't get past 220 with 3.2V, but when i switched to 5V line, the same sticks went as high as 250 with the same 3.2V.

What do you gusy think of my results and the timings so far?

If you bump voltage to 3.4v you should be able to get 240-250Mhz+. Timings look good, but you may have to loosen trfc a bit to 16 or so. For me, this RAM scaled with voltage like this:
3.4v 252Mhz
3.5v 256Mhz
3.65v 260Mhz

Yep, I can post my settings when I get home from, but I have flashed in 0310 and am using TCCD atm so I dont have a tweaker shot. What I can do is load my settings in the BIOS, write em down and post. Hellfire BIOS worked best for this RAM for me, I tried many others and didn't have much success >240Mhz. I ran at 260Mhz with Hellfire for 5 days without a hitch.

I found it took a ton of tweaking to get this RAM to run well and the strange thing is Eva2000's settings did not work for me at all. You just have to keep playing with tweaker until you have success, the same settings do not work for everyone :)

Mine are doing 250 MHz 3.2volts, w/310 BIOS, 2-2-2-5 still burning in.

thx man. wanted to see some of your values and mix and match.

my ram just wont cross ~247 at 3.4v. i need 3.5 to get 250-251. i just got it 2 days ago, so maybe if i keep burnin them in they'll loosen up.

I have the twinmos bh-5. I have been burning it in and got my venice up to 2.7 and tight timings but I have trouble with the dividers and using the 9x multi.

Do you guys run dividers with OCZ or other BH5?

Why use yellow slots for hellfire bios. I am using 510-2 should I go with the hellfire-2?

Also I wonder if the -3 bios might be better to get bh-5 higher and looser? Any help with those questions would be great.

Dividers do not work for me with any UTT or any BIOS, I have to run 1:1 =/

Both yellow and orange work w/ hellfire BIOS for me though. BH5 doesnt really clock higher with looser timings, just with more voltage. -2 or hellfire both good, its based off -2.

P.S. Your settings are really helping me get to my goal of 255FSB for my 3700+ SD. This RAM is great but I am having a helluva time getting it stable.

Right now I am burning in with at 245 MHz and 3.2V, 2x512 in DC with:
2-2-2-6-1T-07-14-2-3-1-2-3120-A-E-A-000-5-2-7-F-5.0-016-D-16x-7x-D

I did an hour of test 5, then half an hour of test 8, looped std tests for 3 lops, and back looping test 5. It has been running for about 5 hours no errors yet. Once done, i will get some screanies and 32M runs.

I was testing each stick separately 2 days ago, and one of the sticks did 250 with 3.2, the other one had trouble getting to 250, but did 245 (both Memtest86 and P95 stable). My target is 252-255 with as little voltage as possible.

this ram hates me...i keep get'n errors in test #7...what does that mean
i tried everyones time'ns here non of worked for me.. right now i'm running them at stock 2.6v 2.5-3-3-7 :(

Hmm I burned mine in for 24 hours, 3.2V @ 2-2-2-5, 200Mhz and so far I can get 240Mhz at 3.2V. I switched to 5V rail just for Memtest and could only get to 250Mhz. Had about 64 errors on 1st pass of #5 at 260Mhz, 3.5V. Upped voltage to 3.6V and have 5000+ errors! :confused: BH-5 don't like voltage, or maybe it's getting too hot? I have 92mm fan sucking air from RAM (case ceiling fan blows air towards RAM and mosfet)

Have you tried using different Drive Srength/Data Drive Strength values? Try:

trc = 9
tref = 3120, 2560 (not sure if 2560 is the correct one, something close to that)
Drive Strength = 5 or 8
Data Drive Strength = 2

Stock is 2.8V, 2-2-2-5, 200 MHz.

hey hovo73 thanks alot man.... i've tried all that but i got it to work with your first crazy :) time'ns at 230 at 3V's :)...seems it doesn't like 3.1 or 3.2 volts for some reason...anyways thanks alot man i'm happy now :banana: :banana:

i tried your second time'ns at 245 at 3.2v's didn't work but its all good :toast:

You have CPU multi 10x right? This will work:

HTT=253, x10, CPU=2530, RAM=230, Divider=183
HTT=270, x10, CPU=2700, RAM=225, Divider=166
HTT=280, x09, CPU=2520, RAM=229, Divider=166

hey hovo what psu do you have...thats very nice over clock for 3.2v's...is that the 3.3 rail.....

i think i found my problem...when i set my ram to 3.2v's in bios it says 3.17v's in bios but right now i'm at 3v's at 230(thanks to you :) ) and check'n smartguardian to see what the atx 3.3v is at and it says 3.24 :confused:

why is my ram gett'n undervolted is it my mb or psu or bios(5/10-2)

what does you ram volt in bios say?

nice going so far hovo. it takes me 3.5 to get 250 on the gold modules. nothing i do can get that down. but then again, everything in my board needs more juice, cpu & ram wise. oh well, what can u do..

ninja_xxx, mine is Enermax Noisetaker 485W and I am using 5V rail. I also get about 3.17V if I set it to 3.2V if I am using the 3.3V rail, but it goes to about 3.23V if I am using 5V rail. Basically the 3.2V is very unstable if you are using 3.3V, I basically almost get no increase in voltage from going to 3.1V to 3.2V.

Thanks pershoot, my target is 252MHz with as little voltage as possible, So I can run with 183 divider with my CPU at 9x280. I am also going to try some TREF settings that were discussed in another thread in this forum:

Thats pretty sweet but how long have you been runnin ur ram like that? Hopefully it will not burn out like a lot of the UTT lately.

Less than 5 days :D I am no stranger to RAM death, both of my TwinMOS got canned on this board. I had been off of 5V line for a while, I just went back to it a week ago. I am crossing my fingers ... :D

hey hovo from what i read on dfi-street and here its not good to use less then 3.3v's on the 5v rail....anyways i'm not use'n the 5v rail till dfi says it ok to use and wont kill ram and mb.

ps. has anyone tried the jumper trick without an adjustable psu and see if we can get full 3.24 volt on the 3.3 rail. maybe you should try this hovo i'm too lazy :)

Yeah, but [3.2v on 3.3V rail] != [3.2V on 5.0V rail]. They are really two very different beasts. When my TwinMOS CH-5/UTT sticks were still alive, they could only go up to only 215-220 with 3.1V, changing to 3.2V made absolutely no difference, but when I changed to 5V rail, the same 3.2V took it all the way up to 255 MHz (memtest and p95 stable!).

Yeah I am aprehensive about using 5V also.

No haven't tried it, I really don't see how it can help without modding the 3.3V line, given the fact that going from 3.1 to 3.2 VDIMM doesn't make any difference.

this is the best i could do in win, so far w./ 3.45. ram is ~2 wks old. memtest #5 & #8 to 250 (30-40min. test each). in win, memtest win32 errors on 248, and 249-250 i get resets. guess ill let it sit for a few weeks and revisit. hopefully they will loosen up.

have you not tried trfc at 14 or 16 for more stability?

anything but 12 causes instability for me, from initial observation.

i've never been able to pass test 7 in memtest without getting at least 1 or 2 errors, now with trfc at 12 i made 2 passes error free :woot:
after 3 weeks of banging my head against a brick wall im finally getting somewere.

I tried the jumper trick, got the same results as with using the 5v rail.

arent they?well i ahve an example right here that they arent, at least in this case.tried 2x512pc3200 and 2x512pc400 all togethher in this dfi=no boot. then i go to cpu-z and guess what the mems show up as having different SPDs.I then get a mates 2xpc4000 ans guess what? 4xpc4000 all work and have same SPDs but different to the PC3200s.maybe an OCZ guy would like to explain this?

P.S. also tried 1xpc3200 with 1xpc4000 and no boot, different ICs and thats with BIOS reset in case you think of timings or CPC etc.

@pershoot have you tried Idle Cycle Limit lower?With these 4xpc4000VX I get faster SuperPis the lower I got and just as stable at 0 than 16.

yea. only 16 and 128 work well.
