TCCD Memtest86+ Entry Guideline
** This entry guideline is written by my friend Chonshon.
Testbed:
CPU : K8 S939 3000+
CPU Cooler : XP-120
MB : DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D bios:310-1
RAM : G.SKILL TCCD-LA 440 256MBx2
Power : ZIPPY 500W
VGA : ELSA 6200TC
H.D. : Seagate 160GB 8MB
OS:windows sp1
Get in the bios Dram section first
Set the proper parameters:
http://myweb.ncku.edu.tw/~e3490211/001.jpg
Vdimm choose from 2.6v
Enable the memtest86+
http://myweb.ncku.edu.tw/~e3490211/002.jpg
Now set the timing of your ram, I set from the most aggressive options:
http://myweb.ncku.edu.tw/~e3490211/003.jpg
http://myweb.ncku.edu.tw/~e3490211/004.jpg
save bios and leave then system will boot into memtest
we can run the test 5 first
**note: When you run test 5, you need to give your system good air flow. this test product lots of heat.
If you are not aware of this, then the test is not going to be acurate!
press "c" enter to the menu:
http://myweb.ncku.edu.tw/~e3490211/005.jpg
then enter 1
http://myweb.ncku.edu.tw/~e3490211/006.jpg
press 3 get in to test menu
http://myweb.ncku.edu.tw/~e3490211/007.jpg
press 5
http://myweb.ncku.edu.tw/~e3490211/008.jpg
http://myweb.ncku.edu.tw/~e3490211/009.jpg
enter 0 to start the test you choose
http://myweb.ncku.edu.tw/~e3490211/010.jpg
so for the 2.6v apparently is not suitable for this.
************************************************** ***************************************
So now, we will need to back to bios and find the proper Vdimm for that.
http://myweb.ncku.edu.tw/~e3490211/011.jpg
get 2.7V:error on the 21st round.
http://myweb.ncku.edu.tw/~e3490211/012.jpg
2.8V:error on the 1st round, see, higher voltage is not really useful for TCCD
http://myweb.ncku.edu.tw/~e3490211/013.jpg
2.9V:error on the 5th round
http://myweb.ncku.edu.tw/~e3490211/014.jpg
From the results above, we can choose the 2.7v for you to test on the DDR600 2.5-3-3-5.
Now we're gonna find the dram drive strength
http://myweb.ncku.edu.tw/~e3490211/015.jpg
all the tests above I was using level 5
now we can try level 6~8
level 6
http://myweb.ncku.edu.tw/~e3490211/016.jpg
level 7:error until 36th round
http://myweb.ncku.edu.tw/~e3490211/017.jpg
level 8: error until 25th
http://myweb.ncku.edu.tw/~e3490211/018.jpg
so now, we decide that we can pick the level 7 as dram drive strength
