i'm currently rewritting the vmod guide ( since a long time, but i have ton of work at university : / )
it will be in french in the first time but i will try to translate it during the next week ;)
I read that post, to be honest, it didn't help me, cause the entire post looks like a huge mess, and half the people aren't even talking about volt mods... so it's extremely haphazard to find any useful info in there.
I can do the mods, but I just don't see what I am suppose to do, from that post...

Have did the memmory cap mod, but it didn't help my overclocks :( , but I haven't have any blackscreen since that :) and more stable volt won't hurt either ;) . If you do the voltmod the memory I think it will help more.
The mod is easy to do too. If you get worser overclocks try to change the direction so you wil have the "-" to the TP holes insted of the "+"

we haven't searched for pencil mod on the old topic, i think it's possible but i dislike this kind of mod because it's not "clean"

yes it's a 2 cap mod, one for GPU and the other for memory, each + legs must be soldered to each blue points, and ground to any ground point of the board ( molex is the easiest soldering point ). After the achievement of this mod you will have clean voltages on GPU and Memory like this :

6.3 will be ok ;) i think you are not going to run your gfx card with more than 6.3 V for your ram or your GPU ;)

kinda like using the good stuff, before digging into the cheap (radioshack) ones.
it will be ok, but 3000/3300 seems to be the best. On first topic about 6800 zadah have said 10 000 µF must be the maximum, bigger capacitor will result in a crash of the board.
Ah I see. But yeah I have 3rd on the ORB for 6800 but its you and zakelwe ahead of me with those dual molex GDDR3 cards :stick: so I consider my self the true 6800 record holder :P

PFFFFF, just put the card back in and the screen just freeses when the windows logo apears artifacting like hell, did this a few times but the same all the time.
I took the card out, removed some dust and greas (from manufactoring ?) and now it work like a charm again.

If you doe the vgu mod, will that take away the stress of the mofsets and other stuff on the card ? Just upping the voltage by bios higher than 1.3v isn't a good idea because the chips to regulate the voltage and the mofsets doesn't like that on Asus 6800NU and other cards.
The most important thing for me is a vmem mod and a cap-mod for the mem, maybe a vgpu is nice too but upping the vgpu from 1.2v (1.23 in smartdoctor) to 1.3V (1.38 in smartdoctor) by bios didn't gain me much, so I think the voltage gets unstable above 1.2v also because it's overvolting at 1.3V.

I think isl 6522 is used for memory voltage regulating, try to mod it by adding a VR between leg '5' and ground. Because i can't mesure anything on your board, i can't say "use a VR of XXX Ohms" but using a 100 kOhm must be sure enough ;)
to figure out where are voltages reading points and cap mod soldering points use this datasheet and try to trace back vout on your board ;)

You are correct, the vmem mod can be made by soldering a 20K VR set at max between legs 5 and 7 of ISL6522CB :) As for vGPU, the RT9202 Definately controls it. Solder a VR from leg 6 to leg 3 (GND) of RT9202, lower resistance for more volts. I will post a picture and VR values in a few minutes.

BTW Del gro, not to step on any toes here, and u did a GREAT job diagraming these pics, but there is a better solder point for vgpu. As shown in this pic:

That point is connected to an SMT resistor on the board. The pad pointed out in your diagram is hard to tin and solder to for n00bs compared to an SMT w/ solder already on it. Just pointing out an alternate solder point :P

Gnd is ground, and vout is where you can mesure 'true' voltage for GPU or memory, this is why voltage reading point can be capacitor's legs ... but sometime, other spots to read voltages are preferred ;)

well, if you done exactly the mod as it is explained on the pic, so you don't need to ground the VR to the molex cause they are already grounded ;)

Bringing back an old thread! Anyways, I was thinking about doing these mods to an old Chaintech 6800 non ultra 128 meg that I have laying around and I was wondering what you guys thought of doing it with 10k vr's.....they are the only vr's that i have around at the moment.
Please can I get an answer...I;m trying to be patient but in truth I have none! ;)
I guess I'll ask this question once more....Can it be done with a 10k VR....sorry to beat a dead horse, I am just a bit curious.
