Wow...just...WOW. I can't believe Intel did this. Oh, and the new Intel 955X chipset board has OCing options built in. Adjustable VID (up to 1.5V) and FSB (given in % OC), mutli adjustments...wow. Intel just became my hero...no more ES chips for me I guess.
Holy crap, xtreme bandwidth may no longer be an amd thread :stick:, this should be a fun proc, maybe it will be the one for my next rig instead of an AMD like i orignally planned

yes but i would rather some very nice bandwidth then lower latencys, especially if the latencys wont be effected that much.
They said that they'll launch the CPU Q2-05, and they did, but mass production, well, it will take a while. Not to mention the chipsets and motherboards based on those chipsets.Quote:

I don't know about you guys but thats an AWFULL lot for a chip thats mostly likly gonna get his butt handed to him by a chip made by AMD which costs like 1/10 th of it's price and clocks way better and colder :slap:
I'm not an AMD FANBOY (well maybe a bit because I really have good experiences with AMD) but those prices are outragius

Intel said that they would cost $999 USD. All past EEs have retailed at this so why change now?
This chip is shipping in Velocity Micro's new PC, its is clocked at 4GHz under water! Thats pretty damn cool to have a dual core 4GHz.

I'll believe these processors are unlocked when I see it...Intel has screwed us too many times in the past to get any sort of hopes up about this.
downward unlocked would be nice, upward is pointless, want some nice high FSB for good memory performance
Upward is NOT pointless...eventually you WILL find the FSB limit of a board/RAM. Being able to increase the multiplier to max out the CPU at that point would be a blessing.
A fully unlocked CPU is far from pointless. An upward unlocked multiplier is ideal for finding the top clock speed limit of the CPU, while not stressing the board/memory (guaranteeing that they aren't the cause of the instability at high clocks).
Once the top clock of the CPU has been determined, the multiplier can be dropped to the lowest value and the FSB increased until the limit of the board is revealed. Then the multiplier is raised so that the final clock is close to the top speed of the CPU and the final FSB clock is close to the top speed achievable by the board/memory. This, IMHO, is the ideal situation.:)
With the locked multiplier, enthusiasts have been relying on careful selection of the CPU (and it's multiplier) to attempt to get as close to this ideal situation as possible. Unfortunately, often the CPU maxes out before the board or vice versa...leaving some, and perhaps a great deal of performance untapped. For example, my P4 3.0E E0 stepping processor under the Mach 2 maxed out my motherboard easily at stock voltage. I have no idea what this processor is really capable of under vapour-phase cooling... and I won't be finding out on my current board.:(
why not try bumping up the volts a bit, that should help you get to some higher clocks, pressies dont mind a little more voltage.

well intel suggest it to be below 77C. so 50C to me is preety cool. my highest was like 110C with to much goop. lol, was like 215F. very F*ucking Hot! and my load temps are (when playing games) 64C (highest). :woot:Quote:
