New 3DMark05 WR with LN2 cooled SLI-setup: 12483

Hello everyone,

Today we finished our 3rd testing day with my friend Kamu and finally broke WR in 3DMark05. We managed to get the score of 12483. :toast:

We cooled XFX GeForce 6800 GT graphics cards down to -90C with LN2 and were able to run em GPU 575 MHz and memory 1300 MHz. We could run the cards even higher but the scores dropped a little bit. Athlon 64 FX-55 was cooled with VapoChill LS and it ran @ 3184 MHz (14 x 227 MHz).

So was it the increrase in memmory speed who did the boost since from last time? It sounds a bit too much, anyting other that gave the boost?

Well it says 0 for agp because it's not agp obviously, so maybe it has to do with that, or maybe it's because it's running in SLI and can't detect the cards right?
Those are my only guesses.

Honestly I don't know, maybe because I've just copied 3dmark05 from other harddrive and not installed it. I'll try to ask from Futuremark.

I sometimes have troubles getting Nvidia cards to show the proper clock speeds, if it shows them at all. sometimes I get crazy clock speeds like 1 mhz for the GPU and 5 mhz for the Mem...

I never found a solid way to fix this, but I have gotten lucky a few times, by uninstalling the videocard drivers, rebooting, install the MB drivers again, reboot, install the videocard drivers again... then look at the 3dmark details, and there it is.... sometimes ;)

Congrats, that will be a top score for a while I think. :toast:

I still find it funny that all that could only manage 38fps in GT2. :hehe:

If you do it that way it wont install the 'entech detection' stuff which is required for reading video card clocks. So nothing mysterious there really.

Although our FX-55 isn't the best overclocker but maybe it could run @ 3,3 - 3,4 GHz. Cooling two graphics cards with LN2 is a quite hard task, that's why we cooled CPU with VapoChill LS so we didn't have to worry about it.

Cascades are just too easy... ;)

Easily is not a good term there at all :D
Try cooling two video cards w/ LN2 and then tell how 'easy' it would be to add yet another ln2 container for the CPU ;)

Good luck, you need to be an excellent OS/Driver tweaker as well. Not to mention not being afraid of frying your HW.

XFX is just funny - Now they have to begin sending you guys items, otherwise their Press Release is complete :bs:

It would be awesome if you used two separate brands of Ultras when you do this again... I'd like to see the manufacturer claim that record! :p: Either that or see if XFX will send you 2*6800 Ultras, if they are going to milk you for publicity. :cool:

Thr last XFX I bought the fan did not go around and the Molex did not work but I did manage a good score with it before it died.

card temps and clocks were totally unforeseen :D
The first run of the evening gave 12001 - after that we had some 20 successful runs w/ higher clocks ;)

I was too drunk to find the sledge from our lab...
We had nearly 100kg of anite (ammoniumnitrate) in hand thou ;)

I also recon that it´s "a bit" easier to accuire a weapon in Texas, than in this nothern county of ours :D

Sampsa&Kamu started the tests with Dryice - the record scores are done with LN2.

The final runs were done w/ LN2 on video cards and dryice on CPU.

I'll guess 635 / 1430.

Assuming you edged up 5Mhz at a time for core and 10Mhz for RAM and did 20 runs.

Mind you that would have probablly given you better than 13k and I can't imagine you are keeping a 13k under your hat.

Beer plus LN2, you be careful up there, wouldn't want a very cold eye wash now or frostie toes / fingers ;)

Yeah Im with Zak that either your at 12.9k looking for 13k or 13.4k looking for 13.5k. :) I know you guys like round numbers, lol. 14k is just too far away to be got IMO atm.

No. I have tested FX55 at 3400 mhz and 6800U SLI default clocks
that gave me 10.025
Same at 3600 mhz was only 10.123...

Fact is, you want to be on the front page and you want the recognition of having one of the fastests PC's on the planet you gotta fork over the cash. Having the same equipment as the best overclockers in the world does not automatically guarentee you the top scores but it will at least give you the same chance and starting point.
