P4 3.73EE a beast in 03, 19K cracked on single card!

First night of benching 3D with the new chip... this chip is a killa in 3D mark 03... ran at 14 x 400 -> 5600, Ram @ 300 cas 4, 4, 3, 3 ....

19K with a single card! Look at the killa GT1... just to be sure it was no bug I reran it many times.

Sad thing is that though its ran on offical 66.93 it can't be published for some reason... gotta bug Futuremark about it.

Only 3D mark 01 can be published... the CPU and GPU aren't exactly made up for 01 but 37K with an Intel is still the fastest on the ORB :)

If it was running at ATI X850.... 20K should be taken quite easily with a single card ;) If the guys had used this CPU at Dallas.... 20K on single card must've been history :D

Kanavit... the X850 would own the 6800U by well over 700 points when clocked to the max like this, based on the 66.93 drivers.
The 3.73 is on loan from Intel :D

Yes the P4 really gets a kicking in lobby high and to some extent car high by Fx-55 but that is still a great score for 3dmark2001 and a single card :toast:

I just wish I could get your card clocks out of nvidia :)

thats cause ati cards are faster than nvidia cards even in the cpu tests. You lose fps, even in *car high* with a 6800 series card vs. x800 on any cpu!

What i thought as well, but the 660 I've got clocked pretty bad compared to this chip, took more voltage to run spi 1M @ 5600 so I put the 3.73 back. Funny thing is that the temp reported by the 3.6 is 10c lower than the 3.73 when above ambient.
FUGGER is that a Gallatin? I'm gonna try booting in at low cpu clock and uguru her up to 5.6G with multiproc acpi procesor selected the next time round of 01, this was with a 400FSB bootup.

How tight is your ram running also? It was ran at c4,3,3,9 @ 300 for mine, pretty bad timings for 300 mem

im gonna be benching my 6800GT on cascade soon, it does 425 benchable with nv silencer, on a hot summer day. would something in the 520-550 range be feasible?
temps somewhere from -60 to -80 depending on how well kayl tunes them :D
also have you any tips for agp 6800s? oes forcing the 3d performance level in Rivatuner work like it does for heat throttle?

My guess is that he used an Asus card or another card with an asus bios to get rid of the cold throttling problem.

Btw Lard, how many volts on the gpu? 1.75V?

No throttle at all no need for Asus bios as its a Asus card ;)

Heh, yeah LardArse also got me going here, I just sold my 3.4EE and I might just get the 3.73EE. But it doesn't appear to be easily found in any online stores around here, so I might settle for a 660 instead. Gotta have something to play with...

Wonder how far I will get with my Mach II GT as well, but with the overclocks seen on the 6xx chips around here on air/water, I think 5 Ghz (and a little more) should be within reach.

Great results there LardArse, very impressvie 2001se also with a 6800U crd, with a x850 you'd most likely be the first P4 system above 40k... Not that being the fastest P4 in the world is too shabby either though.

Have you tried pcmark04 or don't you run that? I would love to see how that score would be, I'm betting you'd rival the top dual Xeons for the first place on the orb as well. Actually I'm pretty sure you'd beat them.... :D

Yeah. Though, by the time ATI brings "it" to AMD, Nvidia will have brought it to Intel and AMD already, at the current rate anyway.

But yeah thats a very nice CPU and, though as Kunaak pointed out, it may only be an OCed 660, I think it may well be a worthy successor to the 3.46 EE.

However, that brings up another point, how much WILL THIS THING COST !! :eek: !!

Problem is with Intel's pricing, and knowing that its still chipzilla, it doesnt really have to compete with the FX-55 pricepoint so you'll find a 55 for under $900 on pricewatch and the 3.73 will probably cost around $1100 :(

Yeah but I envy the EE owners because of it :) THe FX-55 IS the be-all and end-all of cpus which seems more like a wall than a doorway to me cos back in the day when we didnt have "xtreme" cpus like FX or EE, we knew that the guy with the best rig on earth had to work just as hard to get a good benchie. Hell the only chips you'd drool at was a p3, if you had a p2 and a p4 after that, if you had a p3.

These "elite" chips create a performance vacuum that means that its pretty much useless trying to compete for the top spot with a "normal" chip. And its not the price difference I'm talking about. As long as there will the FXs and the EEs, the chip manufacturers will always have an excuse NOT to add the latest stuff on the mainstream cpus so we can drool over the elite ones. (My 0.02)

Yes that is absolutely correct. The same thing happened to my system with a P4 EE @ 4.4 Ghz when I benched with A Gainward 6800U card. Even in car and lobby I lost a lot of fps. About 60-70 fps in both car low and lobby low, and sligthy above 20 fps in both car high and lobby high.

Its true for all drivers save 75.90's, which are by leaps and bounds the fastest for 2001 in my testing.

Save Nature, just about every test increased, most noticeably Car and Drago H/L.

That I cannot answer, I think 4.3G with default cooling easily.

Reviews say 4.3GHz was mostely max on air with this proc.

I seem to get a massive boost in nature on 75.90 but crap in all the other benches with these drivers .. :confused: That's ona P4 rig at 3Ghz though, will try them tonighjt on AMD.

There is a setting in rivatuner for that where you do a percentage, but it always seems to make the bar much bigger. Powerstrip seems to be able to fine tune more though.

hmm, Power Strip only gives me 532mhz for core, Riva gives me 600mhz, and driver settings give me 800mhz!

Of course this doesnt really concern me, but... I made it though '05 once at 519, thats about it, lol.

rivatuner is the only 1 for me!
uncheck the ocing box, then recheck and it will set your current values as the starting speeds

19k with nV card could very well mean 20k cracked with ATI :D , once ur done with the vmods that is :rolleyes:

only with volt mods will it go higher. ive read many a posts of peoples GTs stopping at approx 420core, mine is one also, i get about 425 stable.

There goes my 3dm05 record for 6800u :)
I'm on aircooling so it had to happen sometimes.

Unfortunately NV shot themselves in the foot this time around. Word spread of cold throttle beginning last year with shamino's record setting 600+ core runs. Ever since then, people dont even want to bother with this problem whether it exists or not.
The x800s are just more overclocking and freezing friendly.

That's what makes freezing these cards so cool. And I still don't understand what Asus is doing that makes them not affected.

Hey Shamino your scores are coming up "6800 Series" i.e. SLI. But you ran a single 6800U right? I'm just saying cause right now you are sorta misrepresented on the ORB, I mean you took down my 7.3K in '05 but it's not showing up correctly. It's showing SLI instead of single card. Same for that epic 19k in '03. You're showing 6800 Series instead of 6800 Ultra. Sorta unfair for ya :stick:

Alternatively, there are now 11 SLI projects in front of me shown as single 6800 Ultra. :confused:

drcrawn, whether with the Asus A8N or this Abit AA8XE, the driver displayed is 6800 series even with a single card. I have no idea how some of them get 6800 ultra. Are they on the 66.93? Anyways with Intel, and 925XE displayed in the settings, anyione who knows about hardware knows its a single. Intel SLI would be with something like an Nforce5?

Nvidia is equal in game test 1, with Ati, and stronger in troll and proxycon. ati wins by quite a few fps in nature but the middle 2 seem to be weighted the heaviest.
we found this out by studying reviews and ORB compares, i dont think its new news.
Lardarse, when the cold bug happened on your innovision, is it like the neo2 and the card doesnt even work, or just doent work at full speed? if its the latter then rivatuner will fix it.

From what I've tested, GT1 and 4 is faster with ATI, looking at scores i 1 thing, but you must also take into account overclocked speeds and how far each card goes.
It throttles at default, still runs. I can't be sure tuner fixes that since it didn't have the option when I used it back then.

hmmm. yes GT1 would be faster since its cpu based and the advanced shaders seem to slow 6800 down in this respect.
6800s may be better in 2 and 3 becasue the ram clocks higher, nearly all GT ram (2ns) reches 600 easy but it seems to be difficult for an x800 to do that.

I'm just wondering if anyon ehas done any tests with DDR2 timings, say cas 3, 2, 2, 9 vs cas 4, 3, 3, 9 what difference would it make in 03.
