Hi, vdimm is done by ocz ddr booster, but i NEED more voltage to the cpu!
Can it be done? Has anyone done it? Pics?

Yes this should be the mod altough it is extremely tiny ..... damn ...Quote:

This works:
VR 20k ohm, turned to about 14-12 k ohm.
It will give you a little under 1.85 volt. If you try going higher the OVP shot down. Then go a little back. Then you have your max corevolt.
;)
Nice thanks tom this is far more easy to solder than pin 9 :D  :banana4:Quote:

Thanx :)
Edit->
Nevermind.. I took a look at my board and this is WAY to small for me to solder....
Will try, since no bios released yet...
Are you sure about the 20k ohm VR? Anyway, I will be buying the 20k VR tomorrow and wait for your reply.. Could you also please explain how you came up with the 20k VR? This really fascinates me and I would like to know a little bit more in detail.
Thank you!
john
Please post pics of your mod!Quote:

I am supposed to unsolder the C5 capacitor and solder the 20k ohm VR instead? Or connect it parallel to the C5 capacitor? Just need this info and I will get going with the mod ;)
Fast relies are welcome,I am just waiting for this info...
john
You connect one end of the VR to the pin marked on the pic and the other end to a ground point (e.g a screw/mounting hole)
Has anyone tried this mod, and does it work? If I do it. Should I just watch the voltage in bios while I turn the VR. Set it to max in bios, and then turn it until it shows 1.7v. That's the max I want to be able to give it. A bigger picture that shows me where to solder would be nice. The small picture is good, but I have no idea where on the mainboard it is.
It works! right to 1.85 volt. Then OVP shoots down.Quote:

The area on the small picture is close to the CPU

Okay, Thanks Tom :)
I'm always nervous when vmodding
Will try this mod this weekend. Other then the low vcore, I really like this card. Will also (hopefully) get my second 6800Ultra this weekend. Looking forward to running some benchmarks :D
Good! Please post pics! I'm probably even more nervous then you.. ;)Quote:

Turning the 20k VR while in BIOS I get to around ONLY 2k and the OVP shuts down my PC - but I can't see any increase in voltage at all? Neither CPU-Z nor BIOS info screen show any increase in voltage.. Have I done something wrong?
Oh yes, be carefull when soldering - by mistake I unsoldered the C5 :)
Well ppl, so can someone enlighten me what could be wrong? Other than that, the MB workx fine even after the solder job..
john
Hmm that sucks.. I just got myself a 20k VR today... :(
Edit:
@JohnnySK: Perhaps it is not connected to a good ground point?
Well the OVP does power-off the system so it must be doing something.. Any gurus can help??
have you tried reading the voltage using a DMM? You could also check with a DMM if the point you solder to on C5 is connected to pin 9 on the chip.
Yup,it's connected to pin9..tried that after I soldered the whole thing. Where from should I read the actuall voltage? Could you post a pic plz?
You should be able to get a reading from one of the inductor legs around the CPU socket. You could also try to get a reading from one of the MOSFETS, but the voltage might be slightly lower than the true Vcore. If your careful, you might be able to get a reading from pin 16 of the IC too.
TBH, after looking at suggested circuit diagrams in the datasheet for the voltage controller I'm a bit doubtful about the mod using pin9 (feedback) because it doesn't appear to be connected to the output voltage in any way. To me, Vsense (pin12) would be more logical to use becasue it is connected to the output voltage, but that might depend on cutting traces. It depends how closely the motherboard designers have followed the refence circuit diagram tho.
If it has been said that the mod works tho, I guess that it will work ok using the feedback pin.
Got it to work yet?
Just to clear things up...
Pin9 of the ISL6566 regulator is marked wrong in the pic above!
Here's the correct solder point and some shots of the finished mod.
And by the way, here's the 3.3V rail vdimm-mod:
Thanx buddy! :toast:
Heh.. so that's why it didn't work ;) I will try this tomorrow.. anyone care to comment whether this is the FINAL version of the mod? So that I won't have to solder again.. :)
Ok, so I've re-done the whole mod - and now it seems to work properly.. My temps rose from 42C to 45C :) Anyway,I didn't have time to measure the voltage with a DMM but I will try that today, it seems that BIOS/CoreCentre/MBM all give false info about the current voltage.
I second that.
According to vcore in bios the max i could reach with the trimmer was 1.70V.
At 1.71V the ovp kicked in and switched off.
Can't tell if these values are accurate b/c the mobo is already on its way to a friend i did the mods for and 1.7V is plenty for him to play with. ;)
Set vcore volt to the max in bios and go from there?...
I did! ;)
Don't ask me what bios ver. it was, but i maxed out both settings for vcore and didn't get more than 1.7V outta it.
Your Right OneProdigy, thanks M8 :toast:Quote:

Where is the vdimm sense???
Just user a multimeter on pin7 of a unused ddr slot to monitor vdimm. (pin1 ist vtt btw)
Teukka76: With the rail mod max vDimm will be ~0.05V below the 3.3V rail.
So if you mod your psu's 3.3V rail you can actually adjust vDimm with your psu.
You can find a nice guide for tweaking your psu here: ;)

With this mod i was able to go up to 3.8V on the memory.
Ok, thanks
Hey Guys, this is going to be my first attempt at voltmodding
What does that yellow line Represent? in the picture of the vcore mod?
Also i assume this is same for Platinum and Diamond Boards?
Keeping this thread alive.
My DFI nF4 Ultra-D didn't perform anywhere near the MSI Plat/SLI
DFI lost 100 MHz in OC regardless of voltages over the MSI,even with 1.55vcore on the MSI.
Gonna do the vcore mod on the MSI and send back the crappy DFI * that took 2 days to get to boot :cussing: * suffering from 2 dead fan headers.
so just have to connect those to components, with between them a multimeter so that you can adjust the voltage right???
but what if i solder really bad? can i fry everything?
Are any of those parts heat sensitive. Basically do i have to worry about using a low wattage iron? i just dont want to fry anything out, and same for the vdimm mod. http://www.rhcf.com/sis-bin/ultimate...1;t=000164;p=0
im planning on doing all this when my waterblock comes in in wed, might as well while i have the board out, i also plan on soldering an inline jumper as an on off switch for the vcore and as a off-3.0-3.3 toggle on the vdimm. Am i thinking along the right lines here?
heres the VDIMM mod for Neo4 SLi, will be installing tomorrow
can someone tell me where to read Vcore from K8n sli platinum? i have some Vcore fluctuating (according to cpu-z) and want to know if its real or its bad software reading like all sw voltage readings :)
same problem here,my vcore fluctuats about 0.03 volts.Quote:

currently my max vcore is 1.42 (1.3+9.9%)MAX :(
i have an x2-3800 E6 core
please help me past my 2680 barier :toast:
edit/maybe it would help to increase the 3.3 volt line to stabelise the vcore, anyone ?
