No reg/ecc mem required..SLi
Now you can get 242 for 200 bones ea. and OC NF4...definity has cheap dually potential.

If it OCs Abit will have a definate winner on its hands.
lOOKS hot.. four phase pwr.. highend alum caps...I can't wait.:) Now all I need is some AU cored 242's...those are the CG stepped ie ~2.5 easy on air
:slobber: ABIT might be back in the game... It's even regular ATX form factor!
That is going to cost a mint. I wish I had a mint.
Nice board :slobber: , but i wonder this board can oc or not , if it can so we can take 2 CPUs on fly :toast:
that thing is awsome any idea what its gonna cost?...and i thought dual xeons were cool.....sli!! and two cpus!!
$225 for CG's hehe... I emailed ABIT for availability...and pricing

I hope some other manufacturers come out with dual Opteron boards that don't require Registered/ECC RAM. All I need is a single AGP slot of a single PCI-e. I cannot describe how excited this motherboard makes me. This is the future of computing.
With the advent of dual core CPUs on the horizon, software developers will be forced to make more things multi-threaded, so I'm going to wait and see for a little...
wonder how they were able to use regular RAM on that board...very interesting. Opteron+SLi=Very nice game play (if the game supports multiple threads)

Can anyone say Dual Dual Core CPUs
~Bob
yea, amd said that current boards will suport dual core, so that would be amazing!
no extra power connector on the board though, how is that pulled off?
It has an interesting power connector...eight plug... look by ide slot
What kind of PSU? Regular, or the type all dual ones use? This may be off topic but how much do opterons cost?
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...codevalue=4777
how's that, Newegg's Opteron area.
24pin main connector and that 8pin connector...I think thats on those server type PSUs. So it may work with a regular PSU...doesn't the ASUS PC-DL have that, but works with regular PSUes as well. So who knows.
jjcom
Two of those Opteron 250s would be sweet in that thing...
225 isnt bad at all, looks like competition for the asus pc-dl for dual xeons which is about 200 bucks.....only problem is i dont think ull find a pair of opterons that will do 3.0ghz for 100 bucks. anyone know how opterons oc or if they do at all. if they do its almost affordable. pretty cool stuff comming out lately, thank god im broke :DQuote:

Just set HTT to ~320 and you're golden if you got luck on your side.
The discount chips ain't the problem...Lets just hope the board is the shizzle.
Like the layout.... :)
4 Phase Voltage
2 socket
2 seperate dimm location
2 PCi-express
SLI ready :)
p/S; what does that mean ABIT SLI switch? :stick:

wow, that has potential!
this board is so sexy, real top of the bag work, but doubt it would seem any faster than a single cpu based system for the same price, pretty much for the full pocketed over clocker

Once you go dually these guys say you never can go back to single.. I want to see.. This is the first opportunity I may be able to afford to without wife noticing:)
Say board is $350, $200 x 2 processors..I already have mem since it only requires unbuffered... Only $750 for a dual operton, SLI screamer with FX type performance...
Is it possible to overclock a server?
Why do they build overclocker stuff in this board? :slap:
Who knows? D2OL anybody ;)
Still, if anyone gets this, can anyone find out what kind of overclocking it supports?
yeah thats what I'm thinking as well.

More Importantly does the Board support NUMA.. Must have NUMA...
More info and pics too http://www.pcper.com/news.php scroll down...
little birdie tipped me off with some new information on a NVIDIA nForce4-based dual Opteron board from Abit that is due to be released in February. The board specifications are pretty impressive, and include SLI support as well as 4 SATA II ports and dual Gigabit ethernet connections. Even more interesting is the fact that I am told that this board does not require registered memory and will work with standard non-ECC and non-registered memory modules, saving considerable costs on system. And with the prices of 200 series Opteron processors dropping to nearly $200, a dual CPU system could be reasonably priced!
Below I have exclusive images as well as the full motherboard specifications listed

If you read the AMD documentation for Opteron you'll find that its just a register value to be set from the Bios on the "CG" revision Opterons.Quote:
