it is so ugly though, i would buy it maybe if had sleeved cables and a nicer look like pcpc or OCZ. for 300$ i think the consumer is allowed to expect a little more than just performance.

This is the best psu so far. the one with 45A at 12V. If your mobo have 24 pins atx then you dont need a converter. Other than that you need eps female to atx male converter(neo2). I tried Enermax 660w and it still gave me blue screen, but with this monster I can bench at 3.42Ghz no problem

i actually separated the vapo from computer ups wise. i've got the vapo on a 350VA backup and the rig on the 1500VA all by it's lonesome. with the specs in sig it's running at 23%.

yea, it looks like very precarious work, i wouldn't try that, they are right in the middle of all the guts. and i wouldn't want to get electrocuted, or worse, wreck a 300$ psu :p:

This is the PSU I have and it is huge, I have it in a Chenming Black Full Tower case, Model "901AD-BLACK-0" and it still takes careful planning of optical drive placement. The wires are also very long so you need space for them. I thought my DMM was broken at first, it never moved off of 12.10v :banana: But while rebooting it did jump to 12.11 and running two instances of F@H it will sometimes drop to 12.09v :eek: :p: This is with 2x200MBSeagates, 1 IDE 60GB Seagate, DFI 875P-T, 3.6@280FSB(14x), 1GB GSLE, NEC 3500, DVR-Rom, floppy, 2 FFB1212EHE's, 3 TFB0912GHE's, and a 5900>5950u.

doesn't matter what the rating is, you don't draw 700W all the time cos its a 700W psu. efficiency will make a small difference, but if you run same rig say on a 400W antec and this 700W zippy at same clocks same amount of time it will cost almost exactly the same amount to run.

The Magnum shown at the CES appears to be a prototype. I think the final version will be pretty powerful.
As for now, a Zippy seems good, but pretty noisy.

Zippy / Emacs are very good power supplies, I love my 460.
They are not known to be quiet or come with any fancy bling, because their main market is very serious servers.

yup 400 euros, heck $308 at newegg is closer to £165 here, 400 euros is closer to £280-300 iirc. well i e-mailed this place xcase in the uk as they have some smaller and 2u psu's, but they do a range of antec's, thermaltakes and stuff so they might be able to get them in i guess.
Well, considering I'm only going to have one WD Raptor HDD, zero optical drives, zero fancy raver lights, and just 4 low-powered quiet 80mm fans, I'm pretty confident the 6700 will be a beast in my upcoming rig. ;)Quote:

Yep, my system never this stable. I used enermax660W before zippy and it was ok, but it was never 100% stable at 3.4Ghz.

Thermaltake just came out with their power PSU . It's rated for 680watts and it has great rails . Its about 160 bucks which is not bad . Not sure how the quality is inside that PSU but 680watts sounds impressive.

thanks dissolved. i picked up a multimeter and the rails are fine, 3.39,5.12,12.19. like everyone's said the bios/software readings were waaay off.
Got mine - opened it - and the three rails have their own stabilization and trimming circuit.........5V and 3.3V rails have their trimmers next to each other , 12V rail has it's trimmer way off and about 3 - 4 cm away from the others.........MAX trimming was : 5V = 5.37V , 3.3V = 3.55V and 12V = 12.42V..........Not that bad..........BUT as I said before I've GOT to mod it........ :DQuote:

the issue with the zippy and dfi board is well known now, zippy's won't startup the mobo in the 4v vdimm setting. does anyone know if there's a way around this? i've got some ocz vx/utt that is begging for the zippy.
if there's no way to fix this issue i guess i have 2 options, turn up the pots on the zippy or wait for hipro maximizer! is there any danger to other components if i turn up the pot to 3.55?
finally, some comments on the zippy's appearance. i like the silver look, goes well with lian li cases. i also like the fact that it comes completely unsleeved. i like wiring my rig with the power cables running behind the mobo to keep the motherboard side of the case clean. with the main 24pin cables sleeved, it makes a lot difficult to do this. i'll take some pics with a digital camera to show you what i mean.
In order to switch the fan, I think your better off just vutting the wires on the current fan soldering the new one in. I dont think you can just plug it in.
