HT Multi changing works in either of them?
1003-03 does.... gonna try 1003-04 soon. Newer is better right? :) Time to really test this pair of memory, etc now. Think I will have so much fun once the mach II gets back to me (tomorrow or the day after) and this 2x6800gt :)
PS) Both bioses has lock on LDT now. With clockgen handy I think I am quite happy now. Until I find major flaw which I haven't yet other than LDT and crappy oc'ing utility, I am quite happy now :)
the liks are down

Works here too.
HTT no good for me with 1003.004 - but OK with 1003.003! Go figure!
Both bios files have working PCI lock now.
Good news.
So how high are you guys clocking to now? Im assuming that those people who were stuck at 240(ish)htt with decent ram are now a bit happier?
Anyone got any results, screeny's would be good. :toast:
Not according to OPBs NF4 Clockgen, or Ntune or my system falling over they don't - at least on both of my motherboards! I'm coming to the conclusion there are two versions of this MB going around - those with, and those without!Quote:

I had the HTT on 3x316 en worked fine
Thanks to Mcklain, for putting me onto the track of how to lock the PCI with 1003.003!!
Now here's a screenshot - which one is lying?

another funky smelling ASUS board? Anyone remember the A8V Wi-FI??
C
Remember it? I owned one! I have this habit of not looking before I leap, but hey, I wish I could have got the FSB up to 290 on that system!Quote:

Is it possible to mod the bios so you can set 1.7Vcore or higer ??
You mentioned something about mcklain showing you how to lock the pci!Quote:

set in you bios in jumperfree on manual and set the FSB on 201 or higher and the PCI lock works
Anyone know if OCT DDR-Booster works on the A8N?

NEW BETA BIOS 1003.005
Nice! PCI lock is actually a seperate setting now! select either auto, track cpu or 33.33.
Now all I need is to be able to get vcore above 1.5 on a winnie!

Asus has excellent tech support.
Strange thing going on with the vcore setting! Set to 1.650 I get 1.42! Set to 1.6350 and get 1.5! Set to 1.6000 and I get 1.568-1.582! Sorry If this has already been posted! It's good to know Asus are listening!

I installed the BIOS but I restored it to 004 because I couldn't after 5x reboot no longer come in to windows with OCed settings
What do you mean?Quote:

did you try to set de FSB on 201 MHZ or higher and looked then in nTune ??
I read a thread in the overclockers.com forum and someone reported that Asus is using the A02 revision boards. Maybe that would explain why some ppl are having the problems that are reported. I heard A03's are the ones that will not have the issues that the A02 is having. Maybe someone can clarify this.
I Have a A3 version with no problem (exept some bios bugs)
Yes, and also tried setting pci-x to 101mhz. nTune reports pci-x fixed to 2500 or 2550mhz but touching the slider freezes the system everytime. I'm getting 3dmark and vid card driver crashes from fsb 230mhz, but superPi and prime run stable.Quote:

You shout leave the PCI-e alone but what says nTune when you set de fsb to 201 or higher.
If you set de FSB to like 210 and the PCI goes UP then your PCI lock doesn't work and I advise RMA

It's printed under the blue pci-x slot, next to the mobo sticker.
So if it's 1.02, it's an A02 revision? I thought the revision # is written on the chipset, which is covered by the heatsink?
My board revision is 1.02. My nforce chipset revision is A3. Those are seperate things. So wich one were you talking about? (Are there even nforce4 A2's?)
Same here, my bro's board is version 1.02 with chipset revision A3.
Well, I'm stuck. nTune and Clockgen both report locked pci and pci-e clocks, I can set them without prob in windows now, also htt can be set by nTune (not bios tho). My cpu and ram are tested on another board, both are 100% ok and still far from their limits. Still this damn thing keeps crashing down around 234 fsb.
Going to sell it as soon as I find another nf4 board.
Hi,
Well just flashed to 1005 and this bios seems to be thes best one yet.
Know you dont need to use 201fsb to lock youre pci to 33. The option to lock pci is right in the bios so thats good news for that.
The htt also works well in the bios once you save and exit!!
Mcklain
Mine does not like TCCD.
Tested 4 sticks now(all good for 270+)
Cant get ovet 240 on the A8N.
Hurry up MSI.
My FX has also been tested in a NEO2 and does 15x200 at 1.6v and it's a no go on the A8N.
Too quirky for me and will have to go!
1003-005 is a disaster for me when I try to boot into windows is cost me 10 min  so I flashed back to 1003-004

I've just flashed to BIOS 1003-006: first impressions:
I set the CPU voltage to 1.600v on my Winchester and rebooted. This reported 1.58-1.59v in the BIOS Hardware Monitor! Setting it to 1.65 had no effect - stayed at 1.58v.
The full-screen BIOS logo now looks prettier :D
Others have reported fans running quieter on GeForce 6800GTs at bootup - haven't checked this myself yet.
I juist saw it can only be updated with the new ASUS Update tool (wich can't be downloaded yet)
Don't worry - download the older one (or install the one on the CD that came with the board) and it will update itself to the new version when you run it.
This is the best Bios by far for me. Still have problems running my RAM (TCCD) 1t, but other than that, this BIOS is great.Quote:

No, not for me at least. I have ended up running my rig at 312x9 with devider at 266. This gives me 2.8GHz on CPU, and 400 on memory. Can run it at cl.2 -2 -2 -10 1t there. But hopefully a new bios will fix it so I can run devider at 333 so the memory will operate at 510 with cl.2.5 -3 -3 -10 1t like it did on my K8N Neo2.
cas 2.5 still unstable, even at stock 400. So I'm stuck with dividers as well.
Will try with som BH-5 tomorrow. But without Booster, so I don't know how far they will go. 3v isn't enogh I'm afraid. But I'm planning on running 330FSB with 200 devider. That will let the memory run at 430MHz If I can get it stable there with cl.2 -2 -2 -5 I'll be happy.
the 1003-007 bios is out...
From what i have seen is that you do not try that bios
There is also a leaked 1003 final here
Cyrus the virus can tell you more
Thanks,
flashing to 1003 final now...
(from 1003-7) <== seems to work ok
DON'T use 007 it has big problems. 1003 works fine and memory speed and timings are getting better
running 1003 but my board refuses to do 1T @ 200 bus...
I'm begining to think it's the memcontroller on the cpu
What exactly does the 1003 final change? I just flashed to it and I do not notice a difference from 1003.008?
1004.001 beta
I hope this will fix 1T issue... Somebodey try it :) couse i have a non deluxe...
ftp://ftp.asuscom.de/pub/ASUSCOM/BIO...e/1004sd01.zip
DLing it now. Can't possibly be any worse than running with 1003. :(
dling now too, hopefully these are better than previous revisions...Quote:

I wish they'd get the 1T thing worked out. At least they are still working on it.
I haven't had any problems running my ram @ 1T (even at high speeds)Quote:

Lets face it 260 is no big shakes for TCCD especailly not being able to get any better 2T. 1T I couldn't get above 233 with OCZ 3700 Gold rev 3 (hynix), but could get it to 265 2T - and sometimes higher, but it seemed flaky, sometimes fine, others just didn't want to know. On a cheap gigabyte NF4 board this memory will do 250 1T! So there are definately issues with the Asus.
I'm getting 310 on TCCD 2T, but only 245 1T...Quote:

I agree. I'm very disappointed with this board. My G.Skill LE has tested 280+ with 1t. I can't even boot at 240 1t with the ASUS right now. I tried the chipset mod (1.57v) still no dice. Time for another one. If I could find one in stock (in Canada).Quote:

If asus don't fix the problem  I'm buying DFI :stick:
Just wanted to share with everyone that after I set the Marvel lan to DISABLED in bios, my 1T @ 200 problem evaporated! I can now run my BH-5 2x256 kit @ 244 and my 2x512 kit to 238, selecting 3.0V in bios. I'm in the process of moding the Vdimm and Vcc to improve my clocks...
(I might as well, @ this point I replaced/added the boards CPU and RAM area cheap capacitors with same or larger Rubycons and the dinky and LOUD stock chipset cooler with a high pressure bolt through passive heatsink I made out of a pII-450 heatsink complete with it's own mini motherboard backing plate...)
Now off to try the new beta bios
Hello DoGMaN, congrats on The Crucible one of the days i should register and start posting instead of just lurking..lol. I'm in the frenchie part of the country the one that always want's to sell itself to another country.Quote:

(I hang around Bleedin Edge normally btw)
C U soon, hopefully I make it a mandate to register on the crucible, (hope your back is better).
Cheers.
i flashed beta bios 1003-007 and saw the final bios that been around. so i decided to flash it and i couldnt. it seems the 007 bios corrupts your eeprom. so i cant flash a bios at all using asus update, how can i flash not using a floppy. i heard you can do it with cd-r but i dont know how always flashed in windows
you can use the ASUS CD but it didn't work for me so you wil have to use a floppy or a bootable USB Stick.
I had the Marvell disabled from the beginning
Hey thanks. I've already spoken with them. Not really allowed to discuss that/my place here. The management here doesn't like me too much so I just keep things quiet and they put up with me cuz I've been around for a while ;)Quote:

I mailt ASUS Holland about the memory problems so If we all sent some mails tot ASUS HQ they maybe wake up and fix the damn problem
does it have bank interleave enable?
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...chmentid=23230
ur mem is not running at 285, half multis never give half dividers (they don't exist). try CPU-Z 1.26. They probably run at 250Quote:

Looks like no memory interleaving according to what TicTac said in his post.
