Any successful high HTT clocks on the Asus A8N Sli board? I can't get over 245HTT no matter what settings I use. This is on an Athlon64 3000+ 0440SPMW CPU, which on my Neo2 can get well over 300 HTT no problem. The bios is the beta 1003 bios.

wierd.. the sli boards are supposed to get really high htt... ur sure its no ur memory controller?? i know u said u had it on a neo2, but it cant hurt to mention it.
If the chip has been stable at 300htt+ on another board than it's not the memory controller.
Probly need a new bios....I think OPB mentioned about A8N SLI, I forgot which thread....
I'm on the newest bios... I havent' heard anyone with an Asus SLI board hit high frequencies yet. I've seen high multi clocks though...but I only have a 3000+
i have the same problem! Bios 1003.01 242x13 1/1 or 282x11 but memory at 333 pass 245 i have more than 15000 errors at memtest with my former Neo2 i can bench at 300 with that ram! Shamino did his record at 279x11 so he has a solution...
man, where do you all get the nF4-boards?!?!
sorry....double post
Max vcore is 1.65V? Until bios revision, prolly vcore mod?Quote:

would the two cards need to be the same exact clocks when in SLI setup? or would the load balancing be able to compensate for the lower clocked card.
yes they would need the same overclocks..
eh..what the reason ? :confused:Quote:

I can see that now... the bios is crappy. Hopefully it'll shine with a bios update.
 he also said that about the epox board, and that board is pretty good after allQuote:

They tried to rush new mobo to retail channels. I think thats why dfi kinda late to release nforce3 GB cause they made sure the bios is at least workin 99%.........
Is like release new mobo, gain a momentum in sales and work on bios update down the road......
Well just like many reviewer's if you noticed, OPB gets stuff from these 2 companies before anyone else here really does. MSI, Gskill. Also, if you noticed, his overclocking for each of these parts are unmatched by others.
Can we say cherry picked? :)
Of course, his input will be biased since cherry picked ones will do much better than luck of draw.
How can you explain the shamino's overclocking with "Asus sucks" kind of comment?
Right now, I am more interested in benchers who have to get their stuff with their money giving comments on these rather than manufacturer supplied ones. We see TCCDs barely going from 260-320+ mhz!!! I wouldn't get TCCD based on idea that it will most likely do 320+... nor most of you. These kind of variance exists on all components we buy (hopefully not the PSU and few other core ones which we don't over clock :P) and can't be decided based on single unit comparison.
We shall wait and see as more of these board make it to hands of bleeding edgers who were quick enough to get their hand on few outlets such as directron. (out of all the places, they put it in stock like 2 hours after I checked the site... lol)
At least I know that zippy700 won't let me down :toast:
Edit: Its on the way to feed my starving cpu and other components.....(sorry oot)
The 'crappy' bios on the Asus wont put me off. Im after one here in the Uk once they become availilbe.
btw does the booster work on the A8N-SLI?
stable at 350X5 here :)
I find that hard to beilve, 750Mhz overclock on the HHT, making it 2000MHz defualt and 3500MHz as yours. Sorry i don't by that.
Should be back in stock soon - but if you want to use the OCZ booster, just wait for the DFI! 2.1 vcore and 4.0 vdimm :toast:Quote:

let's forget this board
when my htt gets 250 or even more it goes to blue screen
Tops out at 315 htt for me - but that doesn't mean I love this board!
i mean 250-260 1t
dazzXP are you serious??? @?!? You do realize there is a htt multi. You turn down the htt multi when u do high fsb. I can do 360mhz htt on my neo2... but the acutal htt speed is like 700-800mhz.
The board just can't do >250 HTT with RAM 1:1 at 1T timing. I have tried and many of my friends have tried and none can do that. Same CPU and RAM managed to run the same setting at even higher HTT (300+) on MSI K8N Diamond and DFI SLI-DR though.
Asus has some really sh*t board this time around. BIOS is the worst I've seen.
well hopefully they will update the bios and fix the issues with the board. If not, i would say ebay the pos.
That is what I am going to do I will wait till the DFI boards are in good stock and if asus has then (let's say 1 to 3 months) I will put it for sale (or keep I as reserve)Quote:

That said, after reading all the negatives about the Asus, I found that I like the board. Mine is humming along at 270HTT 1:1 1T. She won't due much higher than that though. But that's not bad considering the horror stories I've heard.
I'll still be going with the DFI when it arrives.
More of memory incompatiblity than anything else. VX and TCCD don't play nice. BH-5 Does though. Gotten pair of it up to 265 1:1 on quick testing :PQuote:

doing rockstable @ 266 1T with my OCZ El r2
doing nothing @ 268 1T with my OCZ El r2
doing great @ 315 2T with my OCZ El r2
they really need to fix this problem, but it's a nice temp solution untill the dfi comes in :toast:
give me your email mate ill send you a couple of pics of the desktop sandra, cpuz but it will have to be from my mobile cause the home pc doesnt have internet yet... :))Quote:

Though I live in Luxembourg I don't understand german, I will give you a link to a good translator:

I tried myself and I had the same result, I must ask my wife she speaks german
ok she says it's "fast delivery", but if you are interested in the DFI you must wait, I don't think they're available
Gskill 4400 running at 2.8v on beta BIOS 1003.006. Timings at 2.5-3-3-7 1T.Quote:

Just outta curiosity, did you measure your chipset voltage with a MultiMeter?Quote:

My chipset seems to be running a tad lower at 1.52v and I also have problems running my TCCD at 240 1t. It can work all day at 239.6 @ 1t or 295 @ 2t...
LE.Quote:

Great board-mediocre oc!! Oh well, as Chris Rock said in Dr Dolittle "you can't save 'em all Hasselhoff"
Any idea what Corsair PC4400 uses? I can't seem to do 240MHz FSB or more :( even at 4x HTT although at the moment it is doing 230x11 @ HTTx5 which is really impressive to say the least. Also i can't do even 230Mhz unless my Marvel LAN is disabled, it simply freezes as soon as it get into windows, 240Mhz FSB and high simply blue screens. My memory is rated for 275MHz and i have had it do 300MHz so i know my memory is fine but if it doesn't like the chips it uses then there can be problems. However i am very surprized as Corsair memory is ment to be 100% compatible with ASUS products!Quote:

I loaded the AiBooster and dnld`d the latest beta bios on the asus site, set everything to auto in the BIOS, set the max memory speed to DDR500, and the MB booted itself up at 250fsb. Wonce into windows AiBooster showed a multiplyer of 7, so I use the utility to change the multiplyer back to 10 and it off at 2.5GHz....on-air!
1gig kit OCZ PC3500EBs
Yeah my A8N doean't detect the multiplire correctly either, my MP is 11 but if set to auto it picks it up as 10 :(
Got my A8N non-deluxe today :)
Currently doing:
300HT*9 with a 3xHTT multi
Asus do a real crap job with the cooling on the NB, when i removed the HSF i found that it had a thermal pad and paste at once :stick: I put alumina in its place :toast: Not only that but that little rubber mat they put around the core was shifted to the left and was actually sitting up on the core which would have made the HSF loose some contact.
what lock setting should i use to lock down the PCI-EXPRESS?
waiting for my videocards tomorrow :)
When I read all these messages, I see the same pattern of the A8V which I have.
Rock solid board, 1st version has some problems in the bios, which will be fixed with a Rev 2 in a few months, not the best OCer.
In my case on my A8V, I'm stuck at 230mz, but think I have an "unlucky" cpu.
I'm just pointing out that I'm seeing the same pattern in the A8N as the A8V.
Personally I don't like the bios very much but I can do 13x230 1:1 1.5-2-2-5 3.0v with my level2 bh-5 with that "limited" voltage and 11x275 1:1 2.5-3-3-7 2.65v with g.skill LE with my fx-55 on water and both at 1T.
On my Neo2 I was running strictly bh-5 and a booster at around 12x260 1:1 1.5-2-2-5
I'm definitely grabbing a DFI board... :D
When I was OCing my A8V I noticed one of the SATA banks was not tied to the PCI\AGP so I was able to run up to 265fsb 1:1(Can`t remember which set of sata connecters it was now, I`ve moved the drives to another machine). If you have any SATA drives laying around, might wanna try a RAID set-up in there.Quote:

Yeah i had an A8V rev1.0 still got it infact a friend of mine will be getting it since he doesn't like overclocking.
On the plus side this board hasn't been too bad, i am suprised i have manged to get my 3500+ stable at 2.62GHz with 1.63v lol i needed 1.77 on my NEO2 to become stable lol Although it won't past prime 95 i can play games and Super Pi without crashing so who cares about Prime solong as it does everything i want too. But this board really does need more voltage. Also i see the same pattern as with my NEO2, if i use the max voltage on the board my PC will shut it's self off hence it is 1.635v rather then 1.65v :( The board really really does need more voltage options 1.75v i would say is the min for max voltage.
I am still running more test to make sure it is stable enough @ 2.62Ghz before i get my hopes up :o
Are you running 1GB kits or 512mb?Quote:

Maybe I am having probs going over 240 1:1 @ 1t w/ my TCCD cause I am using a wnichester?
Edit: Changed memory speed from 204 to 240, my bad...
2x256MB he's got, from his benchmarks. I have noticed people have high benches all have 256 or 512MB ram.
Sweet so far i have ran 3D mark 2001, 03 and 05 and none of them have crashed one after the other. Looks to be stable at 2.62GHz :)
there is a new bios from asus 1003-007 but DON'T DOWNLOAD IT, IT CORRUPTS YOUR EEPROM  luckyly there was AWDFLASH in dos
Wahh thaks for that i think i will pass it then.
link from german forum for final 1003:
http://rapidshare.de/files-de/400827...Final.ZIP.html perhaps you have better luck with it. my old P4t533-R has nearly the same problems and Asus never fixed it.
