Man I wonder if DFI is just run by overclockers?
it seems everytime theres some weird little obscure thing us overclockers are oggling all over for from japan, DFI is all over it, with something.
DFI and Dothans sound like a winning combination to me :D
now just wait till fugger gets his hands on this stuff, since he loves the Intel stuff, and has all that cascade stuff ;)
i cant wait to get my hands on the DFI board. I've got all the components here beside me just waiting for the DFI board to be released here!! But yes, it will be fun to see what the hardcore xtremer's will do :D :D :toast:Quote:

I wouldnt get too excited ppl, the above is from an Anandtech Dothan Review in July 2004 and its getting its butt kicked consistently by a 754 a64 3000+. This is quite discouraging, as a 939 3000+ can go 2.6 on air.
I guess those 30Ks on 01se must've been the GPU power alone 'cause the 3000+ 754 is $161 while the Dothan 755 is $439 !!!!!!
That just sucks. Correct me if I'm wrong anywhere :(

X86 mentionned that they pushed DFI to produce a desktop mobo for the Dothan.
Seem's they also participated in creating a tweaked BIOS from one sent to them from DFI.
In my opinion,they are the best harcore hardware review site in the world,but this little cooperation with DFI will make it difficult to beleive X86-Secret will be unbiased with other mobo reviews.
The one thing that can make this board flop is the hard to find socket 479 Pentiums M.
Pentium M 765 are $637 each in quantities of 1,000,no one seems to have them.
The cheapest I found for the Pentium M 755 is $429.00
Looks like socket 479 Pentium M is a rare bird and pricey to boot :(
As for the mobos Epox and Aopen both have a desktop 855GME board comming out.

The sock 479 mb HS hole spacing looks like it could fit a waterblock for video cards,the holes are 41mm c to c.
Anyone got a idea what vid card waterblock could fit ?

I think Dothan for desktops is the greatest threat, the Pentium-M Centrino 2mb cache. some manufacturers having already announced shipping them!

You need not worry though. Monarch Computer is also ahead of the pack in online computer hardware (first to get 939 Winchesters) and it remains a competitive choice. The biggest advantage to you however, is that it ships to Canada at relatively low rates.
As for the Dothan you were asking about, it currently has the Dothan 745 only (1.8 Ghz) which is not bad in itself btw. Here it is, and you can get for $300 ($1 more than Newegg) and $20 S&H to Canada !!!

I actually cant understand the question but I can answer it I guess. According to the Processor Finder at Intel Website, none of the current line of dothans (1.5 - 2.0) will be H-PGBA -> They will ALL be PPGA.Quote:

However, coming first quarter 2005 probably, Intel will release the a dothan clocked at 2.10 Ghz which will be available both in PPGA and H-PBGA flavours.

Aaah...I guess we're all a little confused in our own way...
855 (855GME to be exact) is the name of the Intel chipset that supports the Socket 479 Pentium M Dothans.
For example, 875 is the chipset that supports Socket 478 Prescotts and Northwoods and in the same way 855 was created for the 479 Pentium M.
Currently, only Aopen and DFI have desktop mobos for supporting the 855gme chipset. However, Intel will most likely go mainstream with the Dothans in mid-2005 - right now a Dothan system is not that feasible (dont tell Kyosen I said that though :D :D :D )

yeah I know what you mean. Dothans maybe fast, but if your like me just can't spend 600 bucks or so on a highend processor. But those things overclock like mad....:D
I just thought as to why Intel is waiting for Dothan to go mainstream. I just thought..."hey, ~22W @ 2.0ghz=very high qulity core" So I think that may explain why they cost so much.
They might be nice once they get on a 875 chipset. If only. I can dream can't I? Anyway...what are Intel's plans for these 533mhz FSB Dothans? Are they going to be on a 935 chipset or something? I know their on a different one with...what is it? PCI-E, DDR2...both nice additions to the already powerful core. Somehow I think the chipset is limiting that processor...I find that a scary thought. Just think what one of those would do on a 875 board. We'd be seeing 1066mhz FSBes....that would be very nice to see

Yesterday, I touched DFI's sample board for a while.
My first impression is, the performance seems almost
same as AOpen's board...at least, at SuperPI again :D
Memory interleave is not available on DFI' board, it seems.
So I feel that 25s@2.8G is difficult and mysterious...

I confirmed 3.5V over by only OCZ booster, without Vddr-mod, on AOpen.
BTW, be careful...I strongly recommend NOT to use OCZ DDR booster
on DFI's i855 board(& also 875P-T)...you'll see burning booster :(

I find that the Doom3 results are rather strange. At 640 x 480 LQ, it should be CPU bound and not gfx card. However, I am rather sruprise that A64 4000 only manages a paltry 87.8 FPS. The test did not state what gfx card they are tested with though. Neither did they state which demo they are using.Quote:

yeah it seems the P-M will be good for gaming, but not that all 'round preformer like the P4. Seems like a few core tweaks and a higher clock would make it better, but this is Intel....so who knows.
a 2.4ghz stock with a better core design, not focused solely around heat, but other preformance things as well. I wouldn't be complaining about a 100W dual core myself.
