And I've been saying it since I received my 1.5GHz Dothan notebook a few months back. After running a 51s SuperPi at the stock 1.5GHz... you knew these chips would be good if they scaled... and they do. ;)

hrmmm do you need the actual pins from the socket as well? I remember ripping apart a bad board once and using the socket as a pin straightener (at the time I had dozens of chips that I needed to straighten for someone...long story).

Anyway, I know when I ripped the socket from the board the actual contacts remained w/ the pcb...

Is it only me, or does the Dothan scale bad?
At around 2.5GHz they own A64/FX clock/clock.
But now, "only" 25 seconds at 3.2GHz.
(FX 3.35GHz = 24 sec)

Impressive results! I just hope to see some DC boards coming out.

Yes, this board has AGP/PCI clock option in its BIOS,
which is selectable from 66/33, 75.43/37.72, 88.00/44.00,
and we have to set 75.43/37.72 or 88.00/44.00 for fixing AGP/PCI clock.
If we choose 66/33 setting, it behaves synchronous in case of using
AOpen's clock-mod soft.
Now Mr. abo's SetFSB is also available for modding clock ;)

Hmm, I've not tried Dothan water cooling, but I expect that
there is no significant difference of max clock between air and water.
From my friends, I've heard that PenM725 goes over 2.6G,
and PenM765 goes over 2.7G. Both by air cooling and with Vcore-mod.

Only a few pre-production/sample boards were shipped last week,
and they say that formal shipping starts from mid of this month.

With the Aopen board u can only get 1.45v for the vcore with a mod???
I hope with the DFI and another mb we'll can have 1.5v and more :D

i'm not sure if DFI has voltage options or whatsoever at all.
that 64bit PCI slot (or is it PCI-X?) tells what market they are aiming for.
and DFI board doesn't have standard mounting holes :/

but only time will tell..

it also appears that banias/dothan bus is not compatible with "p4 bus".
it uses lower signalling voltage plus some powersaving features and
has extra signal paths/pins for this.

so it would need big manufacturer to produce non855 board and
apparently it would come with a price :/

holy cow, that chip rox! 3.3 ghz dothan is equal to a 4.4ghz P4 probably.

for 3dmark scores, i'd say a 2.6 dothan is equal to 2.7ghz fx, 2.8-2.9ghz nonfx and 4.2-4.3g prescott ;)
don't know exactly about EE.. but in 2001se, prescott needs plenty of mhz
to take 3.3g dothan down ;)

In AOpen mb, SuperPI time is same at any memory configuration,
256MB x1 or 256MB x2 or 512MB x1.

I regret to say that FSB 178MHz seems to be almost limit of this mb.
Over 180MHz is difficult...
I don't know DFI's mb case, but I think it is indicating something that
x86-secret shows PenM765ES running at 2.8G=175x16.

But i855GME motherboards are running at single-channel DDR, so,
low FSB clock does not matter, maybe...
For example,
3G=FSB150x20@3:5 -> FSB(QDR)=600MHz, Mem(SingleDDR)=500MHz
3G=FSB176x17@3:4 -> FSB(QDR)=704MHz, Mem(SingleDDR)=470MHz
the former may be slightly faster, I think.

Yes, in case of over 1.5V, the system goes down as soon as
starting calculation.
Vcore FETs of AOpen's mb are smaller than usual ones.

I think that AOpen's engineers choose stability rather than performance...

multi is downwards unlocked. feature of speedstep ;)
i don't know if aopen has speedstep (mult) controls in bios like dfi,
but aopen has a nice utility for changing multis and stuff in windows.
another option also is to use proggie called "cpu msr"

Anand mentioned that this was the board already developed. He suggests that the 915 version is coming in the future:

I did. There is no diff between aircooling and watercooling for P-M. Maybe becoz the CPU is barely warm in the first place. The heatsink felt really cool even though both BIOS and AOpen monitoring software reported idle temp of 39C(water) and 43C(air). Room temp is 26C.

With unmodded vcore, my 755 maxed out at around 2.5GHz SuperPI 1m benchable for both setup. I probably should have used lower multiplier to allow RAM to run faster but Booster is not here yet. So, I have to make do with stock vcore and vdimm. :)

which bios are you using there?

P.S. did you set 33 lock PCI in your bios? :)

I am using BIOS r1.01a now. I did set 66/33 (or, the other two options as well) but SetFSB does not seem to detect the lock. But, I think it's working otherwise my system has been hosed already.

Yes, i am thinking along the same line. If the x86-secret can use a normal NB HSF then I should be able to use NB water block. I do have exactly the same NB HSF from MicroCool so I'll give that a try first. Although water and air are really giving about the same clock from my CPU. Let's see if this is the case with DFI tomorrow.

Mr. abo could lock at 66/33, but he decided that the system runs
at synchronous mode in case of 66/33 BIOS setting.
This behaviour is same as AOpen's original clock-mod utility.

OCZ DDR BOOSTER is fully functional at AOpen's i855GMEm-LFS!!!

Booster on DFI's i855 mb(sample/pre-production version) causes
Booster burning.

So,

Don'y worry about AOpen i855 mb + OCZ Booster.
There is no problem in this combination.
My OCZ PC3200 EL Platinum Rev2 are still alive ;)

Yes.

SetFSB has also AGP/PCI clock selecting function,
So you can change to 66/33 after OS booting,
though it sometimes causes system freeze;)

I am using SetFSB version1.5a and there are some questions that you may be able to answer as follows:
1. What is the ULTRA option for?
2. The UP/DOWN button next to AGP/PCI can't be clicked. Is this by design?
3. The number 76/370 next to AGP/PCI and UP/DOWN button. What does it mean? You can click LEFT/RIGHT button and the effect is the same as moving the main cursor that control FSB/RAM/AGP/PCI
