That just looks like a normal AA8 with an oversized version of OTES :/
if it could unlock the multi then i think many faithful amders like me would grab a cheap 3.0E or something and this board, but ive sworn never to go with abit again. although many swore to stay away from dfi...
Abit are resposible for the best Socket 478 and Socket A motherboard around though. IC7 series and NF7 series are both great.
that looks like one nice motherboard. SO what if Custmer service ain't the best. If that thing works then it will be a great time to overclock.
I highly doubt it would actually unlock multipliers, just do the 14 multiplier trick for the 3.4 and 3.6 just like Asus is doing right now.
its still better then being locked to one multiplier though.
I wish I could say I was excited about these boards from Abit, but it's been so damn long since they released a good solid, reliable board, that I just lost faith in them.
once they released K8T800 pros... which are suppose to have locked AGP/PCI speeds... and it didn't. that was pretty it for me and abit.
its been one flakey board after another from them, and they keep taking multiple revisions, to do, what should have been done from day 1.
I find the same thing with Asus. My experiences with the IC7 series have been better than that with my Asus experiences. Almost every Asus I have owned has been flakey.
I've got one bad ASUS board, but newegg took it right back. never have had an Abit before but was looking at them.
trust me after the nf7 and ic7, they went from hot to not as they realeased their latest boards.
that's because Oskar Wu left Abit and joined DFI to make the LanPartyUT 250gb :banana4:Quote:

yeh, i also jumped ship!
also dfi have forums with actual employees that post, much like ocz do
no offense, what the hell kind of name is that for a motherboard?
DFI looks like it will be my next board too....
is it just me or, ok i guess with 775 unlocking might be more useful , though people are hitting 280mhz fsb anyway right? for me that on 478 always meant i could max cpu out anyway. you just buy the right chip to match what ram you can do IMHO. WIth amd i tend to max chips on stock multi(lately with the ath 64's) most chipsets i've had get iffy past 260-270Mhz(939 boards). I don't see the big deal.
EIther way, if this board does let you use say 3v for mem(ddr2 so plenty) and, well really all boards are ok on voltage as they don't take too much? that will be about all you want from the special "unlocked" bios. But if the code you need to unlock is unique to each chip(difficult but possible) then not many people will want to void warranty completely just to get a bit more vdimm. Most people will just voltmod and remove it and try to rma if it breaks.
THe otes thing isn't an awful idea, just hope they 1, get the heatsinks to contact the mosfets/anything else and use actual thermal adhesive and 2/ try to fix the design so you can fit a heatsink before they release it.(ath 64 max 3)
those little fans are gonna be sooo whiny
right now im looking at the ecs 915P-A board. it has DDR2 and AGP! well the agp is actually a blend of the bandwidth from 2 pci slots. looks interesting maybe someone will make a good board on this chipset, the ecs doesnt have raid
Hmm wtf. is this: :"Upon request, the users will receive a “special” BIOS or unlocking code from ABIT. After the users unlock the code or flash with the special BIOS, they will have unlimited overclocking options for their boards"
Unlimited overclocking options. I highly doubt it.
So how will they keep the "Special BIOS" from spreading around the net? Is it based on a specific board by board or what?Quote:
Unlimited Overclocking options – users who purchase the Fatal1ty boards can register with ABIT. Upon request, the users will receive a “special” BIOS or unlocking code from ABIT. After the users unlock the code or flash with the special BIOS, they will have unlimited overclocking options for their boards.
That sounds extremely stupid IMHO, ultimited OC options, lol. Special BIOS for every buyer, yeah, right.
I'm going to guess that when you registure something is going to be send to Abit like a BIOS code or board code or something. That way it will only work on that board. I expect that BIOS "hackers" will be able to circumvent this however.
EDIT: Why are we talking so bad of Abit? We have not seen this board. From the pics it looks a little weird. but it appers to have better cooling. This board MAY REALLY work

Regarding this special ABIT BIOS, again, sounds like marketing, but then what is Asus doing? Their much adverstised "AI" is also nothing else than hocuspocus for nOObs.
if the registration for that special bios is free then nobody has anything to worry about, all you have to do is register.
i refuse to upgrade from my ic7 max3 it works a treat.. :)
dont know about the ic7 but the nf7 is NOT the best socket a board! never! and its not the best nf2 board!Quote:

mop you had a flakey asus board? ive heard many things about asus boards, many of them oc bad, but i never heard they were flakey. my a7n8x 2.0 was the most stable board i ever owned!
and i heard if you get the bios and use it you lose all warranty? :stick:Quote:

All those lame fans around.. seems so noobish. I want a good solid board without flashy names and flashy fans that do nothing but increase the noise and run the air around.
but it does seem to make sence. I mean, its a good design concept I think. Get air moving over the Mosfets to help cool them. Noise doesn't bother me...My computer isn't quiet at all lol
jjcom
A good design concept is large, effective, PASSIVE heatsink over anything that is hot. A good case will take care of moving the air over them if the user wants it.
Also, cooling the caps is stupid. If you care about them being hot - why not put a higher capacity, higher voltage ones there? It will probably cost about the same as those crapolla fans and might also deliver more stable voltages without making any noise :stick:
Their design solutions are more for show-off :banana4:
I actually like it and i do take interest, but i have 2 problems
1) Intel is not the gaming/benchmarking king ~ that is what i do
2) i dont wanna flash a BIOS to unlock special options... even bugging them for a pass word is annoying, i want it out of the box
....pressies run hot too so WC or better aircooling would be a must
though i may still buy it for giggles
hmm i think their even usein smaller mosfets and useing the fan to keep them cool to save money!
yeah, playful_buffalo I know what you mean...at least Abit is going to make a Fatilty board for AMD. That should be interesting to see. This board for Intel is pretty nice so I guess we can hope the same for the AMD board
